I have watched a tale so sad,
Even the Devil cried.
A girl so young,
Her innocence stripped,
By the lies she was spoon fed,
And the images placed in her head.

Her mother being unable to look,
The babe she raised into a Lady,
Her father unable to stomach,
The cruel seed he spread.

With a tear and a shiver,
She wept into her pillow,
Hoping she wouldn't wake,
Praying her life would end.

Years passed by,
Lady to Lady,
She finally wed.
No father to give her away,
No mother the curl her hair.
In a gown, matching her bride,
She prayed for a family,
Who would understand.

Created and built,
A life she was proud of,
Adopted a child,
She loved so dearly.
News of an accident crashed her reality.
Stopping her life as she knew it.
Mother and father both severely injuried,
Father with no legs,
Mother with no arms.

Uprooted, she moved.
Her loved ones had followed.
She cared for those,
Who refused to care when she needed them.
Father, so proud, bent his head in shame,
Afraid he got lost in his old world ways.
Mother, so sad, she regretted her choice,
She could no longer hold the daughter she raised.

Tragedy had formed a circumstance of change,
One that brought a drastic move.
Father became accustomed to no longer walking,
While mother got ill from a blood infection.
Shortly she died, in the arms of her daughter,
But not before whispering,
"I am sorry I didn't hold you,
I'm sorry I turned away.
You were there when I needed you,
And didn't turn me away.
I love you. I love whom you've become.
Never change, my Daughter.
You are my proudest accomplishment."

At her Mother's funeral, she cried tears that wouldn't stop,
She looked down at Father,
Who looked right back up.
In a whisper he told her something she never knew;
"We attended your wedding, the Christianing, the church.
We stood afar so you wouldn't be hurt.
Your mother, she wept,
She was beside herself.
She wanted to be there,
By your side.
To curl your hair and dry your eyes.
I watched you walk down that isle,
With my heart full of pride.
You are the most beautiful creature,
The best daughter anyone could ask for.
Please forgive us.
Please forgive me.
I turned you away when you most needed me.
You have been here, for her and for I.
If it were not for you, I would have probably died."

Weeks turned into months,
Months into years,
Father and Daughter grew closer,
He became prouder by the day.
A lesson was learned,
A gift was received.
A family reunited,
She finally found her dream.
