I wasn't allowed to donate plasma cause I am a gay male.
Decision is based on gay men are to high risk for HIV???
Are we stuck in the 70's people? People have been educated and grown in that matter of time. If they would read up on the studies of HIV they would find out thats its not "us" anymore that are high risk.mmmmm? This law and accussation definitly needs to be revisited.

I read about this a while back, and thought it was horrible.
Then again, I can't give blood for almost the same reasons; I have tattoos and they're afraid I'll pass on nasty diseases.
I'd like for this page to be longer though... just sayin'.

I,m sorry but this is wrong , there are test they can preform on the blood and plasma to test it , your sexual preference should not matter . I see not problem with gay men Donating either , they know what they have or don't have.

OMG this is just ignorant .. shouldnt matter if your straight , gay , bi black white purple or green .. they can screen the blood ..there are plenty of women who are HIV positive .. I hate ignorance , these people really need to get a clue .

Wow. That's really wrong of them. o_O I'm not one for donating blood though because of my blood disorder. You'd think that in this day in age people would have more of an open mind. I mean everyone has to have their blood tested anyway. I don't see why they make it such a big deal.

It's disgraceful to treat anyone like that, it should not matter if Your Homosexual, Bisexual, Trisexual or Tattooed to the hilt pretty much everyone has the information today to be safe. An yet the hospitals still say they don't have enough blood from donners BUT how can they complain when they are refusing perfectly good blood from a willing person because of their sexuality or tatts? Bigots they are so stupid and it really make Me mad they get away with this stuff.
