some other time i will add again some more details-visit my portfolio to see some pics of me
THIS PAGE IS.....ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!!!!!!!
NAME~USERNAME
‡MY NAME‡
my greek name is Δήμητρα (ΔΗΜΗΤΡΑ in caps and the spelling is dimitra) it is from the ancient olympian goddess Dimitra (or Demeter) beloved for her service to mankind in giving them the gift of the harvest, the reward for cultivation of the soil.she was thought to be responsible for the fertility of the land, and the only one of the greek goddesses who could truly empathize with the human experience of suffering and grief, having experienced trully herself.
anyway, friends and family call me just Demi!
‡MY USERNAME‡
Astarte — The Lady of the Beasts. Along with Lilith she is one of the principle Elohim of the Semites of Phoenicia.she is here depicted with two foals in ecstatic dance, her typically upraised arms grasping serpents. She was the Great Goddess, Lady of Byblos, one of the oldest forms of the Great Goddess in the Middle East, all-powerful, creating-preserving-destroying, an embodiment of Mother Nature. Also known as Ashtoroth, in some poses she is identical with images of Kali, while in her role of virgin she is an ancient prototype of Mary, one more goddess/deity that later was used by christianity.Queen of the Stars, Mother of all Souls. Lily was Her flower. The White sow. Dove, Her bird. Womb. Her colors were red and white, Acacia and Tamarisk are Her trees. Sometimes depicted with the head of a lioness. In some pictures She stands small-breasted and naked on the back of a lioness, with a lotus and a mirror in one hand and 2 snakes in the other. Considered by the Romans to be the same Goddess as the Roman Diana.( Roman Goddess of Light, Moon Goddess, Queen of Heaven, Lunar Virgin (note that to the Romans, “virgin” meant a woman who had never been married or pregnant, not a woman who had never had sex), Goddess of Wildwood, Divine Huntress, Protector of Animals, Lady of Beasts) candle colors: pink, green, red, and silver
-in ancient egypt:shewas a warrior-goddess,who was considered to be a daughter of Ra.In the Egyptian pantheon to which she was officially admitted in Dynasty XVIII her prime association is with horses and chariots. On the stela set up near the sphinx by Amenhotep II celebrating his prowess, Astarte is described as delighting in the impressive equestrian skill of the monarch when he was still only crown-prince. In her iconography her aggression can be seen in the bull horns she sometimes wears as a symbol of domination.
i found this information from many different sources and i combined them with the things i already knew.but still, i cant say all about these two great goddesses, i am just mentioning some details.a few details.
anyway, some may think about the demon astaroth (male, not female) but as i am refering to astarte, the goddess, i wont say here about astaroth.
MY MUSIC
i love music and i have a lot of favourites, very different from each other.i basicly listen to metal and rock,so on my shelves you can find......a black metal cd,next to a gothic or a classic rock one!!i wont write down a list of bands here now, cause my favourites are not limited to a list of names!so i wouldnt call myself a goth..i'm also a rocker,a metalhead,a...punk...i just love music!BUT there is one type of metal i really don't like because i think it's boring....progressive metal.....yuck!!lol
But many of you ask me what i listen to...ok ok i'll put some bands here, but they are not only them!
didnt know with who to start....so,i like theatre of tragedy,i prefer them with liv kristine and also when the death vocals were more!one of my fav albums of their is velvet darkness they fear..
also whitesnake of course!! i love that rock-hard rock music they create!! dave coverdale's voice is one of my favourite voices..
they are great! a death metal band with so nice melodic vocals too, they are very original, but i prefer them as they are ,not with melodic vocals only.
apocalyptica.i love the sound of their electric violins. i like classical instruments' sound in rock/metal songs,i like piano and flute too..
dimmu borgir!i like them!! although i dont like many bands of norway-black metal bands-cause they have too many blastbeats, this band is my fav of their kind.
in the 80's bon jovi was a top band, i believe that they are ones that deserve to be on top till today. but not really their latest albums...
i could say the same for these guys! no i wouldnt forget them!! iron maiden is one of the most famous metal bands and that did not happen by accident!AND judas priest....what can i say?? leather rebel!!! they rock
black sabbath and ozzy osbourne..i like sabbath very much, and the solo career of ozzy(no comments for his latest choices)
as i am talking about the sabs,i can say that i also liked them with ronnie james dio.i love his voice, has given a lot, his personal band, dio,is wonderful too!and with rainbow of course!!(second pic) a great band too.
deine lakaien...wonderful music with wonderful vocals!!i could say the same for wolfsheim..(second pic)
one of my fav bands with female vocals are the gathering(first photo-the second is of lacuna coil)idid not put them together to compare them(ok maybe!!)so many bands would like to be like them.lately too many bands with girls-wanna-be-singers came up. i cant say that lacuna coil are one of them, they are very nice, especially at their oldest albums,i liked their melodic death metal.
and here are paradise lost.they changed their style a lot from their beginning but i can say that i liked all of their styles!! yes, their death metal, melodic metal, dark rock or anythingthey called it!!
london after midnight also are very nice, although i recently found them lol..i also recently listened to diary of dreams (second pic)and i can say that i should have heard of them earlier!!
i liked sentenced a lot with their first singer but i think that they are very good now too....lyrics and music.
the mission are one of my bests!! definately!
I believe that kreator are better in their last albums,i did not like their first ones soooo much as i do now!i could not say the same for nightwish(second pic) their first albums were so nice but now even the vocals have changed a bit to become more commercial-and they managed it!anyway...no comments about that.
metallica and megadeth! these bands had to be put together lol.i like both bands but metallica not anymore,i dont know.
(sanctuary-nevermore-warrel dane)
i couldnt forget to put a picture of these guys here.....warrel dane is one of my fav artists.. i cant say that i liked his very first project,he was soooo young, but then, with sanctuary was wonderful,as he is with nevermore...this band is so great,i just love 'em-all my friends know that, many of them hate them lol!
oh i forgot wasp! they rrrock!
virgin black(first pic) is such an original band,i dont think that i've listened anything like this, and lacrimosa have a great combination of so many and different styles, lately i listen to both bands often.
there are so many others that are not here!! i even like some classical music songs,of course '80s music-disco, punk or even some pop-synth pop,i am very openminded with music.
But.............
lol
CREATURES
humanoid creatures..maybe weird or scary to some.
but definately beautiful.. real or imaginary,it doesnt
really matter to those who believe that have similarities with them.(the pic is Hajieelkhe by enayla)
i will start with faeries,i think these creatures represent me very much, they are free, belong only to themselves and to nature. they can only be seen if you really believe in them and then give you everything.they maybe be considered as very powerful but in fact they have the same needs with humans (i dont mean the physical ones)...they probably are powerful, but that is when they receive love and concern.they have the gift of forgiveness, which people dont always have,no matter if they do worse things to the others.
speaking of that....i do make mistakes.we all make.the thing is that i seem to find people that can make mistakes, terrible mistakes and hurt me badly, but they could never forget and forgive anything, even the smallest things.maybe i dont know how to make real friends. i may seem very pessimistic but,in fact,i am not.it's just a bad period for me.(some faeries by amy brown, jessica galbreth and darien gerke)
and now vampires..as you many times have asked here,no i am not believing i am one or trying to be!i a, not gonna talk about just creatures that are feed with blood.thinking of vampires,i am also thinking of eternity..etarnal life.humans are born to live..to get happiness and pain, but finally die.what would it be like if we could live forever?not necesarily feeding on blood, but just live?in a metaphorical meaning,a vampire could be a powerful human, wise through all eternity, a creature of the night who can see the dark beauty of nature...but with only one weakness..the same with humans.the need for food. i dont think that i would like living so long.i could not lose every human i love.i could not feel that pain for ever! maybe if i could feed on love then yes, maybe i could be one, i could live in eternity.with my beloved ones, without losing anybody.that would make me happy and would like to...try to live more.i would have the chance to seek knowledge, find all that i am looking for, feel free and full.strong.happy...
i dont know if it sounds too egoistic but i believe that humans are ones of the most beautiful and admirable creatures of nature...oh yes it sounds too egoistic......
THE....BASICS!
i dont really know which are ''the basics''...i'll just try to tell you some of the most usual things in my life, what do i do, what i am in..i dont know, whatever! just to...introduse myself!!
(pic by gerald brom)
i love art.poetry,sculpture,music,painting,photography..just love art.human can create so many things, axpress his feelings through art,his beliefs or even hopes.almost everything is art on this earth.or everything?i paint sometimes.i mostly like the renaissance art,i love so many artists that lived in the middle-ages..especially sculptors and painters...ok and architects-i wont tell now that i am a fan of da vinci because he is...''in fashion'' now-i hate this, brown was not the only one who said these things, not even the first,ok,the book was quite nice.
i am studying public health here in greece,it is very interesting.I like learning all about health and also how the human body works and is.the most difficult is human anatomy.i've always wanted to learn about human anatomy..i think its so difficult but i am trying cause i really think that the human body is one of the most perfect ''creations'' on earth.
i can say i am shy! sometimes its very difficult for me to get closer to a person i dont know.ok sometimes happens to do it in the first day! but usually that doesn't happen. i am not waiting for the others to make the first move always, but,if they do make it its much easier to me!! as a little kid i had problems with that and was so difficult for me to make friends that my parents worried about it.i have changed it a lot but i think that there is more that i should change too! but when i finally meet somebody, get out, talk, have fun, i have nothng to fear and nothing to hide. i am always what i am.i am me. i am not pretending that i am something i am not and i'll never do that. i can be a great listener, give my opinion and help anybody who asks my help.i am sensitive in some matters. i suppose i can be a good friend as i can give, i want to give a lot to the others.
i like writing. i write a lot.not really poetry, this is very rare and i do it when i am really depressed or...excited with something! i write about parts of my life.different experiences that i had,i dont know why, but i used soooo many pages and ink for that! i also have several ''pen-friends'',only greeks though.i like that,i know some of them for many years and i think you can get to know a person very well in that way.i like writing down my thoughts and feelings.it helps me calm down and focus sometimes!!!
I have a sister called anna.to be honest, she is quite different even if she is only two years younger than me.she is a high school student. she only listens to greek music, a kind of music that i don't really like (i dont mean the traditional music-i can't explain the style!!) she likes to read poetry(ok that's the good part lol)
and tries to pass her feelings on the paper-although i haven read any writings of hers!
i like gothic dressing..rock, and even punk!i am not talking about music cause you dont have to dress in a specific way only because of listening to a type of music.i like that way of dressing.i cant say that i dress in a very extreme way though.i like sexy outfits but not too sexy!-then i like to see others dressing like that lol.i love boots, skirts, full maxi and short, and short tops, mainly in black and other colors i like are purple and deep deep red!and of course make up!!anyway i'll stop here cause i dont really think that this matters.
THE OTHER SIDE
we all have an ''other side''.maybe this is considered our ''bad'' sise or the ''hidden'' one.i am not really sure for which of these sides i am gonna write.maybe the saddest part of me or the weakest.its up to you to find out!(photo by lisa sweet, great photographer and artist..)
i suppose i am a loner...even if i don't want it i could say i am.
cause i've been alone for so many times.but i guess i will never get used
to that, everytime it is very difficult. i love people i feel
happy when i have someone to
count on.i wanna give things, i try to make my closer people happy,by giving them all i can.
when i love someone (friend or lover it is the same for me) i can almost do
everything.i can forgive everything.maybe this is the
biggest mistake i am making.always in the end they seem not to realise
how much i cared.and everytime i am breaking down i
cant anderstand it.this is my weakness.that i love,i give,i care,i feel..my biggest weakness.
right now i have no closer friends.no boyfriend.i feel alone
but i am trying to face the truth..i am not the only one.i will be better,
i should be or just give up.but even if i wanted it
so many times,i can't give up.cant give up myself, can't give up life.
there are some times that i need to be alone.i suppose after all
these years after all these hours i have spent with myself,i know
me very well. that made me a person that doesnt get easily closer
to the others but loneliness also offered me the chance to anderstand
who i am, to anderstand some things i wouldnt have seen if i
was not alone.so there are times that i just need to be alone.stay at
home.the people who know me well know that and i hope that they anderstand
it.its not that i dont wanna see
anybody,not really this.its
just that i wanna see me.
i have learned to control my feelings, sometimes to control
my anger and keep it inside me. i dont like fighting with my
friends/family/..beloved ones. for that reason i try to keep my bad
feelings in me, i have a great patience when i love somebody, i dont
think about me so much but i am trying to keep the relationship well,
no matter if i am so angry or sad inside.
of course i am human and i cant control myself forever.that is not an
excuse,it is a fact for everybody so its for me too.there can be times
that i cant take this anymore and finally i take these feelings out.then
the person who is to blame will be blamed, not anyone else. i
rarely take my anger out on somebody who has nothing to do with that,
and also i will not ever blame anybody for my own actions and mistakes.i am
not a saint (and dont really believe that anyone can be) and i cant
let the others take me down for the rest of my life.i said i have terrible
patience when i love someone but i can never say that i will let that
''someone'' to step on me forever! maybe once.two, three times, maybe
four....but not for ever. at least i want the others to appreciate
my forgiveness, my patience and try not to hurt
me again and again.maybe it is stupid that i let this happen the first time.
and the second one too..but i hope that the others will anderstand
what they've done and change it.
But ok,even if i can be in some cases very caring and forgiving, there is a point
that i wont tolerate anything more.it takes me long to anderstand that its the
thing that i should do but when i decide that i wont give any more chances to
a person, then that's it! also when i dont like a person from the beginning its the
same! i am a little ( ok enough!) stubborn!!! who isnt anyway? they should give
me a reason, make me believe that they deserve that chance-but that could
be enough difficult sometimes.. i cant say that i could hate sb. i've never hated anybody.
just dont give chances to be close to me, get in my life, have things from me.

MORE THINGS ABOUT ME.......
reading is like travelling to other places to me,discovering different worlds...paths.. throught reading a person can gain knowledge, can relax, forget their problems for a while, have fun,be touched..imagine,dream,learn.every book can offer some things.in the first box i have the people i have...spent hours with..! reading their works, about them, trying to understand them and through these, my self.even i dont totally agree with some, they have offered me a lot, rejecting something is very important. it shows that you can think on your own, choose what you are and not put the thoughts of others over your own to feel right. cause in that way you are not right, you have no originality, you are not yourself. welcome to my mind......maybe this part of the profile shows better who i am. try to combine in some way all these and you will understand who i am...

they are all a part of my mind, of my life. i read a lot, maybe you can say i have an obsession with some things. if you have someone to suggest me to read, to give more attention, i would be more than glad.. lol maybe its the best way to catch my attention!
i am constantly readind the 4 more famous (maybe the most significant too..) books of Eliphas Levi. i found them translated in greek, at their first edidions (wow) and they are so old! lol maybe i prefer the new books, with better letters, colored pics and better layouts but they are so beautiful-and yellow lol. i feel lucky i found them!
before these,i was reading a book about mystical orders existed in the past and other ones which still exist in our days!it is very interesting, i find myself agreeing with many ideas/beliefs of those orders but unfortunately these days it is very difficult to find a true order and become a member-people put money over everything....
in general, i love books about mysticism, religion, hermeticism...i am in that stuff for several years-since i started being interested in reading i can say.
i cant say that i like novels (fiction) so much. it depends on the content, i don't know, i prefer books about something that is a fact with comments about it. researches, science, psych, medicine, theology, whatever!!! but i am very eclectic when i have to choose a novel. at least i want the subject to interest me a lot, the atmosphere maybe... i prefer myths, to be honest,i believe that they have something more to give./font

FONT COLOR="maroon"FONT COLOR="purple"INTRODUCTION TO POSTMODERNISM:/fontThe current Postmodern belief is that a correct description of Reality is impossible. This extreme skepticism, of which Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn are particularly famous, assumes that;
a) All truth is limited, approximate, and is constantly evolving
b) No theory can ever be proved true (we can only show that a theory is false)
c) No theory can ever explain all things
d) Thus absolute and certain truth that explains all things is unobtainable.
Isn't it right? we can't be sure for anything. we can make theories but who can tell that they are right? the proof is also given by humans.... /font

FONT COLOR="maroon"FONT COLOR="purple"ORGAN DONATION:/fontit has been almost two years since i was thinking whether i should or not become an organ donor. this subject distracted me a lot. i can't be sure that the reason of my hesitation is only that one i'll mention, maybe there are more reasons... i can say i want to be a donor. what if a shiny day a bright car passes over me?-and i won't have the chance to catch up the third decade of my life yet! it could happen any time, i could fall,it could happen anything! so, why a person who, for any reasons needs an organ to save his/her life, or just need it to improve his/her life, can't have it?i die and i take all of those persons' chances with me,isn';t it selfish? as an example, a person needs a kidney cause he/she may have only one.... why me, having TWO and healthy kidneys i am taking them to my grave and deprive them from him/her?i believe that you understood what i'm tryin' to say here...BUT(oh yes i'm not done with my macabre thoughts yet...)yes,there is a ''but'' here,on the other hand,(all of you who disagreed with me above, maybe now you will agree)i hesitate.i don't know if i manage to explain excactly what i am thinking but i'll try to.thinking not of my body at all,or maybe considering that it will be my soul's home (some here say ''cell'' but i don't want to put this word here-and,come on, this is an other subject!!) untill the day i die, considering that, i hesitate.i am dead,i am in my coffin and i have no eyes, maybe no heart, could then my soul be serened, tranquiled?could it be peaceful with my body defectived, imperfect?and also if i was the one who caused this?i cannot be sure and noone can...- i made it a subject for the forum, i really want to hear your opinion on the subject./font

FONT COLOR="maroon"FONT COLOR="purple"ANTISTHENIS:/fonthe lived in 445-366 B.C.,an ancient greek philosopher from athens.in the beginning he was sophists' student but he abandoned them to dedicate himself to socrates (an other great philosopher) and be his student.his teaching was similar to socrates',as he believed that human's happiness comes with the acquirement of virtue.BUT socrates believed that virtue relies on knowledge..antisthenis believed that it relies on self discipline.in his opinion, man becomes free when he is not tied or binded with the exterior goods (material things) and for that reason the superlative good should be frugality.as a person reduces his desires, his needs and passions, they become more perfect.maybe i can agree with this.for hes believes he was arguing with plato... he also teached that there is only one god when in his times polytheism predominated. i just say that he was a person who did not follow the ''flow'',the maze and used his own mind to think./font

FONT COLOR="maroon"FONT COLOR="purple"VLAD THE IMPALER:/fontVlad the Impaler, commonly referred to as Dracula today, impaled thousands of persons during his reign. At the time, Vlad was known as a hero and a good ruler - the severity of his punishments made him famous and feared. During his reign, a thief could be impaled just for stealing bread - or even worse - Vlad impaled many thousands of captured soldiers to inspire fear upon his enemies. The victim's hands would be tied to prevent any chance of escaping. The stick was fixed to the ground and it was too big for the victim's feet to reach the ground. Finally, it took many hours - or days even (depending on the victim's strength and weight) for the stick to reach a vital organ. There is no much evidence of the impaling torture being common during the Dark Ages - as a matter of fact, it was considered as the "Cruelest torture ever designed by the human mind." The most common way of impalement was through the anus - but variations existed. Vlad impaled people from the chest, legs, arms and; surprisingly, form the skull. Most of these were for decoration purposes, because, as noted above - Vlad impaled a whole army and his main purpose was to scare his enemies - he succeeded by leaving "A forest of rotting men."In rare cases, the stick would go perfectly from the anus to the mouth - in other cases the stick would stay stuck with a bone - it would go out through the chest or, more commonly, through the neck.Vlad was so cruel that he would sometimes impale children and then make their mothers eat them. At the same time, he would be having a feast while watching the victims be impaled right in front of him. For this reason and others, Vlad is known today as Dracula, the blood-thirsty vampire./font

FONT COLOR="purple"MEDIEVAL TORTURE/fontFONT COLOR="maroon"

a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"img src="http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h245/demoulaki/thumbscrew2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"/a
FONT COLOR="maroon"FONT COLOR="purple"The thumbscrew:/fontThe Thumbscrew torture was used during the Middle Ages, most notoriously during the inquisition. When a victim refused to reveal sensitive information, he or she would be subject to the thumbscrew. The victim's hands were placed in the device (see above) and the torturer would crush the victim's fingers slowly. Another common application of the thumbscrew was to crush a victim's toes. A (bigger) variant of this torture was used to crush knees, arms and even heads.
FONT COLOR="purple"The Pear of Anguish:/fontUsed during Medieval Times, the Pear of Anguish was an extremely painful device used to punish homosexuals, witches and women accused of inducing a miscarriage. The Pear of Anguish had the shape of a pear; As a handle was turned, the spoon-shaped lobes opened; increasing pain. Even though the Pear of Anguish was mostly used for oral punishments, homosexuals had it fixed in their anus and women in their vagina. Causing severe pain, after this torture was employed on the mouth; the victim's teeth would get destroyed; making blood pour out of the victim's mouth often causing death. If introduced in the anus or vagina, death was a step away. The Pear of Anguish was rarely washed, thus causing infections very frequently. If the victim didn't die by an infection however, he would die by other diseases caused by the severe damage of his or her intestines.
FONT COLOR="purple"Breast Ripper:/fontWhen a woman slept with a man, who wasn't his husband, she could either continue doing it until someone found out; or she could be sentenced to The Breast Ripper.Consisting on ripping a woman's breasts, this torture very often caused infections and death within a few months. If the woman was lucky enough to survive, she would never be the same. This torture was widely used in the Dark Ages and, mainly, in the inquisition.

''MATRICIDE''
hear our mother crying in silent tears,
for she can't speak, she only cries
she cries to me....
draw the final curtain,
for senseless thoughts and senseless hands
have shaped the future...
is it not what you thought would come?
or maybe people no longer care
for Mother Earth?
Earth Mother is screaming,
we can't live without her.
no time left for dreaming here, she knows
have we forgot our future?
Earth Mother, life giver
we can't live without her
so foolish man who say that they don';;;t care
they'll be gone anyway..
feel our Mother Nature, for we are children
suckling at her breast, she gives us life
she gives us all we need...
what do we give in return for life we take from her?
oh,forgive us Mother,forgive us
for we know what we do...
we've blistered and burned you
our kind may soon be through
we've raped you...
Earth Mother is screaming
we can't live without her
no time left for dreaming here, she knows
have we forgot our future?
Earth Mother,life giver
we can't live without her
so foolish man who say that they don't care

3.one of the most known wasp songs and the best ballads ever....
''THE FOREST WHISPERS MY NAME''
Black candles dance to an overture
but I am drawn past their flickering lure
to the breathing forest that surrounds the room
where the vigilant trees push out of the womb
I sip the blood-red wine
my thoughts weigh heavy with the burden of time
from knowledge drunk from the fountain of life
from Chaos born out of love and the scythe
the forest beckons with her nocturnal call
to pull me close amid the baying of wolves
where the bindings of christ are down-trodden with scorn
in the dark, odiferous earth
We embrace like two lovers at death
a monument to the trapping of breath
as restriction is bled from the veins of my neck
to drop roses on my marbled breast
I lust for the wind and the flurry of leaves
and the perfume of flesh on the murderous breeze
to learn from the dark and the voices between
This is my will...
The forest whispers my name...again and again
I walk the path
to the land of the Dark Immortals
Where the hungry ones will carry my soul
as the wild hunt careers through the boughs
Come to me, my Pale Enchantress
In the moon of the woods we kiss
Artemis be near me
in the arms of the ancient oak
where daylight hangs by a lunar noose
and the horned, hidden one is re-invoked
The principle of Evil
evolution has been recalled
Beneath the spread of a Magickal Aeon
I stand enthralled
...In the whispering forest
LINES OF THINKING
this is the paragraph where you can read the words of poets, philosophers, maybe some poems or anything that may have an inner meaning for me.enjoy.
(pic= golden by enayla
1.Jean Jacques Rousseau
Plants are shaped by cultivation and men by education. .. We are born weak, we need strength; we are born totally unprovided, we need aid; we are born stupid, we need judgment. Everything we do not have at our birth and which we need when we are grown is given us by education. (Rousseau, Emile, On Philosophy of Education)
but surely education with the right meaning... nowdays the education system has fallen apart. maybe the thing is that if we want to be educated WE must educate ourselves.seek the things we need, read, open our minds to the truth, not to be deceived.not ever.
2.Sebastian F.W. Nijhof
of all those who are born, most are so fortunate as to be sentenced to death...
for surely they are better off than those who are sentenced to life...
and yet...
noone are more free that they who in their lifetime rather than thereafter have found themeselves from a sentence to life delivered...
for these are the few that live to be granted redemption.
3.Ephelia
why do i love?go ask the glorious sun
why every day it round the world doth run:
ask Thames and Tyber, why they ebb and flow:
ask damask roses why in june they blow:
ask Ice and Hail, the reason, why they are cold:
decaying beauties, why they will grow old:
they'll tell thee Fate, that every thing doth move,
inforces them to this, and me to Love.
there is no reason for our Love or Hate,
'tis irresistible,as Death or Fate;
;tis not his face,i've sense enough to see,
that is not good, though doated on by me,
nor isn't his tongue, that has this conquest won;
for that at least has equall'd by my own:
his carriage can to none obliging be
'tis rude, affected, full of vanity:
strangelly i'll natur'd, peevish and unkind,
unconstand, false, to jealousie inclin'd;
his temper cou'd not have so great,a pow'r,
'tis mutable, and changes every hour:
those vigorous years that women so adore,
are past in him: he's twice my age and more;
and yet i love this false, this worthless man,
with all the passion that a woman can;
doat on his imperfections, though i spy
nothing to love; i love, and know not why.
sure 'tis decreed in the dark book of fate,
that i shou'd love, and he shou'd be ingrate.
The unexamined life is not worth living. ... Wisdom begins in wonder. ... There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.' (Socrates, 469 - 399 B.C.)
5.friedrich wilhelm nietzsche
There is nothing more necessary than truth, and in comparison with it everything else has only secondary value.
This absolute will to truth: what is it? Is it the will to not allow ourselves to be deceived? Is it the will not to deceive?
One does not want to be deceived, under the supposition that it is injurious, dangerous, or fatal to be deceived. (Nietzsche, 1890)
What if God were not exactly truth, and if this could be proved? And if he were instead the vanity, the desire for power, the ambitions, the fear, and the enraptured and terrified folly of mankind? (Nietzsche, 1890)
Do not allow yourselves to be deceived: Great Minds are Skeptical. (Nietzsche, 1890)
There is not one big cosmic meaning for all,
there is only the meaning we each give to our life,
an individual meaning, an individual plot,
like an individual novel, a book for each person.
I have not been unaware of the political drama
going on, but I have not taken any sides because
politics to me, all of them seem rotten to the core
and all based on economics , not humanitarianism.
The suffering of the word seemed to me without
remedy except by what we could give individually.
I did not trust any movement or system...
...nothing changes the nature of man. I know too
well that man can only change himself psychologically,
and that fear and greed make him inhuman, and it
is only a change of roles we attain with each revolution,
just a change of men in power, that is all, the evil remains.
Age does not protect you from love. But love, to some extent, protects you from age.
I postpone death by living, by suffering, by error, by risking, by giving, by losing.
I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me nave or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman.
10.thomas moore
From my rotting body, flowers shall grow and I am in them and that is eternity
Romantic love is an illusion. Most of us discover this truth at the end of a love affair or else when the sweet emotions of love lead us into marriage and then turn down their flames.
Wisdom and deep intelligence require an honest appreciation of mystery.
11.Donatien Alphonse Francois de Sade(Marquis De Sade)
Persecution
Miserable creatures, thrown for a moment on the surface of this little pile of mud, is it decreed that one half of the flock should be the persecutor of the other? Is it for you, mankind, to pronounce on what is good and what is evil?
Pain
There is no more lively sensation than that of pain; its impressions are certain and dependable, they never deceive as may those of the pleasure women perpetually feign and almost never experience
Government
The mechanism that directs government cannot be virtuous, because it is impossible to thwart every crime, to protect oneself from every criminal without being criminal too; that which directs corrupt mankind must be corrupt itself; and it will never be by means of virtue, virtue being inert and passive, that you will maintain control over vice, which is ever active: the governor must be more energetic than the governed.
Submission
Never may an act of possession be exercised upon a free being; the exclusive possession of a woman is no less unjust than the possession of slaves; all men are born free, all have equal rights: never should we lose sight of those principles; according to which never may there be granted to one sex the legitimate right to lay monopolizing hands upon the other, and never may one of the sexes, or classes, arbitrarily possess the other.
12.Mary Shelley
13.A reporter in the Guardian
The creation myths are based on nothing but the fantasies of the ignorant who lived long ago ... . To tell our children that ancient traditions, the dreams of our uneducated forefathers, and holy writings which must not be questioned or impugned for fear of blasphemy, are sources of authority about the world on a par with science, is a travesty.
14.Thomas Paine
"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church" (Age of Reason).
"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit" (Ibid.).
As priestcraft was always the enemy of knowledge, because priestcraft supports itself by keeping people in delusion and ignorance, it was consistent with its policy to make the acquisition of knowledge a real sin.
Why then should the tree of knowledge, which is far more romantic in idea than the parables in the New Testament are, be supposed to be a real tree? The answer to this is, because the Church could not make its new-fangled system, which it called Christianity, hold together without it. To have made Christ to die on account of an allegorical tree would have been too barefaced a fable.
