I'm a Southern girl living in an area where there is no vamp or even goth scene. Finding like-minded individuals isn't easy. Heck, finding goth clothing doesn't even exist here and this isn't some small town out in the sticks! Therefore, I devote my time to completing my education, music, and work.
I'm a fashion design major and I take all of my classes online as my school is across the country. If anybody who reads this is considering taking online classes, please heed this warning: they are EXTREMELY time consuming and require absolute dedication. You cannot try to skim by with assignments and studying like in traditional classes. Though the information is prepared for you, it is your responsibility to study it, learn it, interact with classmates and professors, and complete assignments and quizes/tests on time. Each class requires several hours of work per week. If your social life is more important, don't take online courses as you will have little or no time for much socializing.
Sorry for the public service announcement. I just want to be helpful to all of my fine fanged friends. ;*)
Fashion design is completely opposite, in most respects, of where I began my academic career. I was a student at a prominent university in Florida...ahmmmGoSeminoleshmmm...which I won't name. hehehe... I majored in chemistry with a minor in math, but I had to leave school during my senior year. I got very sick and had to have emergency surgery. I wasn't able to go back to school there because I lost my in-state status and other various reasons.
Alas, I wanted more in life than to spend my life working some mundane job that I hate and not making beans to boot. So, I decided to go back to school as my health improved and I wanted to find something that I could do, even if I was sick and had to stay home. An online education sounded perfect, but there was a problem; what what field would make me happy to work in for the rest of my life? I suck at computer stuff, as some of you already know. :*) There was nothing in the medical field that interested me in available online programs. I didn't want to be a paralegal or get some other technical certification either.
Then I came across fashion programs that were offered online. I had designed my own formal gowns in high school, but somebody else had to actually make them because I didn't know how to sew. I had even designed an entire apparel line for a friend's business when I was a freshman in college. What a perfect fit! So, that occupies most of my time now.
Now that I have bore you to death with my education novel, I'll fill you in on some more personal things.
I began my awakening in high school, but didn't understand what was happening to me at the time. I didn't believe that vampires were anything more than myths, legends, and fictional beings created for entertainment. My strict Protestant upbringing made me even more jaded on the subject. As I grew older and more intellectual, I began to think outside the box and committed myself to research in my spare time. I came to a few conclusions as a result:
1.) I've never been able to locate in any version of the Holy Bible claiming blood drinking to be a sin.
2.) There is no proof that God hates vampires. (or Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, blacks, whites, hispanics, Catholics, Protestants, prarie dogs, snakes, popcorn, underpants gnomes, etc.)
3.) Humans make up so much bullshit to conform not only religion, but society, politics, etc. into what a select group think is right.
4.) The sum of all variables means that I am a living, breathing vampire and God created and creates everything.
As it stands, I am Catholic (I converted) vampire among what seems to be a minority of Christian vamps. I keep this part of my life "on the D. L." as it is much easier to deal with others when they are ignorant of this fact. Also, my private life is just that...private. I have never tasted human blood because I don't trust people when it comes to something as sacred and personal as taking into my body a part of theirs. There are way too many scary diseases that I prefer to stay away from. I have developed some tricks and methods to keep my thirst at bay which is quite helpful.
I suppose that's about it. The only other things about me is I love to read, I play several different instruments, I love to draw and paint, I enjoy learning and challenging my mind.
I will shorten this later. Sorry for the flooding of thoughts that I seem to have typed out.
Special thanks to my brave protectors:
