Im uk based and can remember carving out turnips and swedes when i was little. I couldnt have told you whta a pumpkin was for. When iw as younger we used to travel to Pendle hill for halloween. We where taught old traditions. I have tried to do this with my own children but alas American culture seems to be seeping in. I have nothing against trick or treating but id much prefer to Sit on Pendle hill side, talk about pagan traditions and tell ghost stories...Ive put you a link so you can see it..

Interesting article.
but i hate the use of the term "The American holiday of Halloween".
it is not only an American holiday and Americans should realise that the world does not revolve around the USA.
(i do not hat all Americans... just the idiots in the majority.)
This is a very interesting article. Thank you for giving me something to think about. I'm rather amazed at the similarities between Pagan and Christian beliefs.
Very well thought and informative. Makes me want to scratch my brain.
I agree. Halloween should be restored to it's original traditions. Well wrote.
I always wondered what All Saints day was...my stepdad passed away on that day...thanks for the great article!

Thank you for giving an unbiased opinon on the subject. I have heard too many people complain about things of the past. Thank you.
