The Screaming Banshee, an omen of death. The Banshee sometimes called a "bean-si" or a female dweller of a sidhe, is also referred to as "bean chaointe" a female keener with her wail so piercing it shatters glass! The Banshee can be seen in one of three stages, a young woman, a middle aged woman or a hunched over fragail old woman. The older woman is seen with long red hair, a pale complexion, in a long grey cloak, she is sometimes seen washing the bloody clothes of the the person who will soon she foresees dieing.

Many believe that the wailing of the banshee is a sign of an approaching death with in the family. it is said that the banshee is more often seen near a river or a lake.The wail can be heard by anyone in the family at any given time! It can also be seen and heard by the person whose death is being foretold.

The banshee can also take on a human form. One such case did occur when King James I of Scotland was told by a young woman that he would be murdered in 1437.

Many have thought of the banshee as a dark evil creature that appears when one is destined for hell, the way she works is a mystery and will probably remain so, she comes in many different shapes and sizes even animals.

In studying the stories of the banshee, being part Irish myself, I have come to believe in the tales of the screaming banshee. Many may fear her while others say it is something that just is. They seem to accept her in any form she may come to them. I myself do not fear her instead I accept and welcome her presents when it is my time or when she may tell me of a family members death that will soon occur.
