The waves crashed against each other as a lone man loomed off to the distance. The house before him was quiet and seemingly empty; save for the lone women visible in the closest window to the ground. Why the couple had placed her there he could never understand. Didn't they know, he thought to himself, that i would always be watching her? Always be there ready to take her?

He smiled to himself, shaking off the feelings that were creeping into his awareness, the feelings usually kept in the dark abyss of his subconscious mind. Kira...he thought to himself silently again...you left me for him....for that wretched healer...if I can't have you...I'll have the next best thing to you. And with that thought he swept his cloak around him and departed for the hill trail that would take him up to the front door of the house.

The gravel crunched under his shoes as the trek became more and more steep, they, his kind, didn't have the need for cars or driveways. They could fly or transport. He came to the point where the cliff began and unfurled his wings of dark ebony; lifting so easily from the same spot Kira had.

Sunday twilights often started as such; waking to the cool night, sea breeze brushing against my face...the seagulls singing to each other as they settled in to sleep. Often the sea would crash against the shore creating a song all it's own...but tonight it was silent.

The bed creaked as I tried to lift myself up, my limbs sore from the night before. Kichiyou mumbled something in his sleep as I climbed over him and off the bed. "Shh my love, return to sleep..." I soothed him, stroking the side of his face. He looked up and smiled at me, a heart felt smile that warmed my ruthless heart every time I saw it.

"Mio amore eterno, my eternal love, where are you going?" His voice was exhausted, (he had stayed up with me the night before while I finished my council duties), and it made me smile.

"You need not worry your cute little head my love, I am simply going to check on Isy." His smile widened at our child's name...our child...the sound of that still seemed like a dream.

I walked through the home that I had had built for me and Kichiyou when we first were married. The walls were starkingly white, well of what little there was left to see of the walls. Vines and trees that I had had placed in here to make it a perfect home, covered every inch. The apple orchid led the way to and from our room; into the front lobby.

The front lobby was piled high with rows upon rows of flowers of every species and color; trees with vines and hammocks lined the walls. Small alcoves with feathery soft grass for little Isy to play in. As well as little rocky nooks for Kichiyou and I to, well, be romantic in.

There were three different main hallways leading away from the main lobby.

One, the purple ivy vines that grew up the walls and hung from the ceiling led to Isy's room. Little canisters of light littered the hall to her door; thanks to a old enemy of mine she had become afraid of the dark.

Two, the apple orchard leading to Kichiyou's and mine bedroom; and three, the bridge arching over the well sized stream running through our home, (I'll show from where later.) Led to the bath house, where Kichiyou and I had spent most of our first days together.

I was pulling a purple and black iris to my face as i heard a small commotion in the direction of Isy's bedroom. Obviously, Kichiyou had heard it too and was right beside me, sleep long gone from his worried face.

"Have you checked on her yet?" His face never left the door to her bedroom as we made our way silently down the hallway.

"I was on my way to do so my love, but I was taking the scenic route...forgive me." I barely heard him say 'your forgiven' as the door burst open and Isy was standing there holding a demon, dead, in her hands. "Isy!" We both ran to her hugging her in one big awkward group hug. I pulled the demon out of her tiny little hands as Kichiyou scooped her up in her arms.

"Your sleeping in mommies and daddies bed tonight my little love." He carried her out and shut the door as I went to work trying to figure out what was going on. It had been happening for weeks now, since I had told council of little Isy's birth.

It had started when she came into this world; (I was unconscious at the time from giving birth); and Kichiyou and my good friend Pyro, (who i had requested be there at the birthing), had to protect the both of us. From the descriptions I had received from both Pyro and Kichiyou, it was a demon council or someone who used to be in council could send.

I walked along the room, sidestepping the vines and irises that Isy had helped tend to, and stopped before the window.

The window was wide open, the lock broken clean off; outside the sky reached out it seemed like for forever, to meet the horizon line.
