Love?
Oh how I love
Yet this love is nay returned
Nor shall it ever be
And happiness, that fleeting ghost
I know happiness
For it beams on her cozy smile
Yet nay for me
And sorrow, anger, torment, pain
Those brothers I knew in ages past
A drink to them I shall purchase
For they are not with me any longer
Nor is she, nor am I, for that matter
In humble fashion do I take my leave
Making not a scene to call upon eyes to look on me
Acquiescing promptly and with much haste
As night will bring about the dark
Concealing me in its wonderful, tender grasp
Bringing on familiarity, comfort, and peace
No more living on edge, wondering
Dying at her words, longing for something never to be had
No bitterness, hate, or things of regret
For the energies woven there can be put to better use
And silence?
I know silence
For it is that friend that makes my acquaintance most
But this silence, so deafening
Shall be my bride
My new and truest love
And forgoing death, we shan’t depart company
