Horror Shoot:

02:48 Aug 31 2006
Times Read: 653

Well, things didn't go exactly as planned, but they went well enough. I'll start from the top and work down from there.......

It's 230 and technically we're done work, so I should be home around 3...... not happening. The concrete wasn't dry enough to cover and rain was threatening to come down... now I get delayed till 330, not to mention the fact that with traffic, I get home at 355...... the threat of rain can still wipe the shoot out.

It's now somewhere after 4 and I get a phone call..... the person who is supposed to be backin up the actress for teh shoot ( in the event of a no show) and also supposed to be helping me with the makeup and effects is still sick and suffering from a fever. I was really counting on her being present but alas.... one should know better than to rely on undependable people.

540: One of the cast members is running late so we're all going to be late. He shows up at 610 and we have to rush... luckily, we get through the heavy traffic and arrive to meet the actress I just met only a few minutes late.

700: We take the wrong road and wind up walking about 3 miles before asking a cop about the place where I wanted to shoot... he says its back in the direction that we didn't take. I say screw walking back and then shooting... we're losing light and I've got makeup to do.... I could've been doing the walk through with the rest of the cast but instead was creating a sliced throat out of latex and powders.

730: Really late, in the wrong place, tired, hungry, and a little frustrated, we find a suitable place and go for it. We're really out of light by now but we proceed.

The good news is that everything after this point went pretty well. We ditched the original ideas we had ( some of them) and adapted the film. It went in 2 takes.

I'm wiped out, exhasusted and have no clue what the film will look like, but I'm up for a reshoot if it turns out bad. I really enjoyed working with everyone and it was a tremendous amount of fun. I'll edit over the next few days and get the footage up on youtube so that everyone can view. That's all for now.

Short Horror Film Shoot

03:03 Aug 30 2006
Times Read: 657

We will be filming a horror short tomorrow night that will really put my skills to the test. I've casted mostly friends but did manage to get someone who has done acting projects and modelling for one of the roles. Wish me luck as this will be my first shoot of this kind and although I directed a feature length film, I'm nervous as hell. I guess I'm gonna have to break out my JAY COOL mode and run with it.

So here's a bunch of stuff that I threw together from the last Monster Mania convention of the year. I stayed mostly behind the camera and let me little kiddles pose with the stars.

This is probably the last convention I'll hit this year, unless I wind up finding one after Halloween, so there will only be film production shots from here on out.

Feel free to message any comments to me.

Bored

01:18 Aug 28 2006
Times Read: 675

I'm sitting here, in limbo...... I feel like time cannot move fast enough for me. It's Sunday and I've got a script to finish and I've got work tomorrow. I'm tired and at the same time, I'm wired. I'm trying to schedule a shoot for a short horror film this week yet there are so many things that factor into it....

Weather, Actor Availability, 4 different locations to pick from, and always the intangibles.

I've phone calls to make and messages to return. People to get together with and work to do.

The worst part is, I'm bored. I don't feel like lifting a finger to do any of it.

First New Vid......

04:21 Aug 22 2006
Times Read: 692

Some of you may already know that I did a feature length film a few years ago that got tied up in legal drama and wound up collecting dust on a shelf. Long story short, I wrote it, produced it, directed it, and even wound up doing a small role in it.... casted it, did spfx, lighting, sound, catering, set design, costumes, etc. The one thing I did not do, was work the camera. Tonight I used my new camera in a still setting to do a quick little introduction video which is now available to watch on youtube. If you'd like to check it out, here's the link....

I guess that's the right link. Have fun, enjoy it, laugh at me, and feel free to comment about it. Thanks.

Bitch and Complain Mode.......

04:17 Aug 22 2006
Times Read: 693

Do you ever wonder if it's you that brings out the worst in people or is it just that you have too many expectancies from others? I've come to realize that I'm not taking shit from people any more and that's final. You wanna be in my life then prioritize and get a fuckingg clue as to what my personality is like. I'm stressed right now as I've got a lot of things going onj and if you're going to dick me off or sit on the phone and wait til the fight starts before saying you had a bad day, or whatever it was that caused you to do what you do, then don't bother making plans with me or picking up the phone and dialing my number. Have some common sense and realize that you're not only wasting my time, but your own time as well. Anyways, that's my fucking "get it off my chest" rant for today.

FILM NEWS!

06:34 Aug 21 2006
Times Read: 699

Well, I officially have a script in progress and it should prove to be quite funny, in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. I'm doing a comedic spoof of Night of the Living Dead and plan on replacing the zombies with..... well, if I were to tell you what I was replacing the zombies with, it might just cause you to not watch it. I should be finished scipting by next weekend (which is the weekend for a horror convention in Cherry Hill, NJ... just thought I would add that in case anyone wants to get together there) and then I'll be seeking out a final location for the main shoot. A lot of my friends have agreed to "star" in the film so the hard part of casting is already completed. Now it's a matter of figuring out my editing software (I've just gotten several) and then posting the damned thing up on youtube. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated.

Busy and even busier......

10:51 Aug 18 2006
Times Read: 707

For those of you who have been trying to reach me and have not been able to, I offer the simple explanation that I am very busy at the moment. I've not gone away from VR, just taken a small break to get some film stuff done. Remembr, I'm a microbudget company which means that I must conduct each part of the process on my own. That means that the scripting, casting, locations scouting, logistics, and everything else has to be done by me. I'm sorry if it bugs some of you that I've "disappeared" but this is something that has been waiting to happen for several years now and I'm not letting up until I get some stuff accomplished. Thanks for being patient and understanding.

Just finished with the first test run of the new camera and it rocks. I've been waiting to own something this good for a really long time and now that I do, I will definitely be following through with the projects I've had on hold. If you're in the Philly area or close enough and think you might wanna get involved in a film project, feel free to contact me.

Randomly Pissed Off......

23:17 Aug 16 2006
Times Read: 718

I picked up a copy of one of the largest circulated newspapers in Philadelphia and found something on the front cover that made me really pissed off. The main headlines in the news told the stories of our local football tam being ready to make a run at making the superbowl and another, smaller tidbit regarding the break-up of Kate Hudson's marriage...... OK

Why did I have to turn to page 19 to find local law enforcement stories, page 12 for other things that I deem inportant? Have we as a society really become so assheaded that we put sports and hollywood divorces abotu everything else? What the hell about the 3 wars going on right now that the US has their hands in? Yes, I say 3 because if any of you believe for an instant that we're not backing Israel, you're blind to the truth. Anyway, just thought I'd ramble about this as it really iced my cake yesterday.

Back in Business.... the Film Business

01:51 Aug 15 2006
Times Read: 739

I'm not going to mention names because I don't want a bunch of people harrassing a certain individual and asking for similar favors, but I wanted to post a very public thank you to a dear friend of mine. During discussions over how to get my film stuff off the ground, I let them know that the biggest thing holding me back was a new camera.

This person went to a great deal of trouble, mainly trying to do everything via the net and finally wound up just sending money. Tonight, I've just returned from the store with a brand new camera and can start production plannong on a short film that I hope to get into a Horror Film Festival being held here in Philly.

I can't begin to say thanks enough but I want to let this person know that they have helped me more than they can imagine. Thanks. You know who you are.

Amazing.......

05:37 Aug 14 2006
Times Read: 745

I wonder what it is that makes people so take things so personally. Like when you're typing and they ask what you're doing and they don't like it when you say I'm writing something. It amazes me further that when you do take the time to avoid being rude and it causes an argument....... You give them an idea of what the alternative could have been, something like "none of your fucking business" and they hang up the phone.

A word to the wise folks.... if you're a super-sensitive person who is prone to having their feelings hurt, please avoid contact with me. I have a tendaency to speak off the cuff and it will hurt your feelings. Well I've ranted enough and now in closing, I ask simply that you heed the above warning. I would hate to have to block more people or have them no longer exist in my mental world.

Torn

05:18 Aug 14 2006
Times Read: 747

I've really been looking forward to going to the ball, yet an opportunity is presnting itself that would force me to stay here in Philly and help with the construction of a haunted attraction here. The upside to this project is a definite chance to display my talents at building working specialeffects and making a profit at it. The downside is that I won't get to meet the people that I really wanna meet. This is a very perplexing situation that requires many more hours of thought. I'll have to ponder this and write more at a later time.

I Feel Like Such a Wuss

10:53 Aug 04 2006
Times Read: 760

Lately its been hot here. When I say hot, I mean high 90's and 100+ degrees, which is normal for some people's towns. It's not normal here and doing heavy labor in it has been taking its toll. I come home from work and wind up either bent over the thrown, emptying my stomach or simply crawling into bed and going to sleep. I've never been one to like the heat and this weather is killing me. I genuinely feel for those who have to deal with 110 degree or hotter days, especially anyone who has to deal with humidity or work in any kind of labor job. So this should sum up my lack of appearances on Vr and in the other places where I am commonly found. They say the heat is breaking and that we're going to be cooling off a bit. Maybe now I wikll have the energy to do something other than become comatose by 8 PM. Who knows?
