I am excited about Halloween. We have a party that night. VanDick is going as the Spirit, I'm going as a 50's chick. Just have to get the ponytail and all set. I love the poodle bag and saddle shoes. He wanted me to go as The Scarlet Witch, but I couldn't resist the monogram sweater like in Laverne and Shirley
It's amazing that they expect you to work miracles without anything. All I can say is thank God I found Donor's Choose. At first I went to Craig's list but the stuff has to be picked up and I have no car. Donor's Choose is like a dream come true. I just wrote up a new proposal for a listening center. Been asking for one for over a year. I'm using a boombox that works for CD's, not tapes. The sound is off for tapes so you have to hold the boombox up. WTF, how about some decent equipment? I'm tired of getting crap and the kids suffer. My hubby's idea was great to put the site on myspace and Twitter. Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus. It's called Donor's Choose.
These people are like Christmas and angels all in one. Last year I had no furniture in my classroom. I wrote a proposal to Donor's Choose. My son put it on his comic site and I was funded. Got my beanbag chairs. This year I asked for a printer. My hubby put the site on myspace and Twitter. A few days later I got my printer. Oh and now everyone wants to use my printer. Nope, tired of asking for shit and some people get and some don't. I always get the left over used shit. Not this time. I found Santa Claus. I just wrote a proposal for housekeeping furniture. I bought my own play sink and stove. Now I need a table and chair set. Think I'll get it from school. Hell no. It's ok , someone out there is listening. There are good people out there that care about our kids.
I've encountered such negative feelings on this new program we started. Everyone keeps telling me about the old ways and comparing past years and teachers before they even give this program a chance. The principal hated last year's teacher and wants nothing to do with what she was doing. It wasn't even Pre-K work. She had a fan club that won't even give the change or the new teachers a chance. On a positive note, the principal is all for this new program. There has even been talk about sending the new Pre-K teachers to Italy to see first hand the Reggio way. That's where it started. Why are people so afraid of change? Granted not all change works but damn, give it a chance.
