Chapter 1

There is a saying that there is to be a Queen, but not of race anyone acknowledges. They say when she is born she will change the society and the rest of the world of different races. She will instill courage among her people and her people always awarded. She was destined to become a Queen of a race of beings known as Nightwalkers. They take to the elements of Earth, Air, Water, Fire and many other elements. They have the ability to teleport with a smell of sulfur behind them, they can read minds and heal the sick or injured. They are telekinetic, psychokinetic, psychic, telepathic and empathic. They can be conjured by a race of evil people known as witches who can use them by transforming them into the Demon inside and forcing them to do the things they'd never do. When they touch a being known as a Druid they become attracted and mate, but if they touch a being who is human, the result can be deadly.

~~~~~~
Natalyana woke at the sense of darkness and the cool European air that filled the room through her open window. She got out of bed and dressed in the finest silks and robes she was given as gifts from her people. She knew she was special, she knew what her future spoke of, but she knew that no matter what happened in her life thee would be some type of war, whether it were between her country and another, or between her and her people. Walking down the long spiral staircase to the ground floor, the staircase made her dizzy as usual. As she descended the last few steps she heard footsteps coming from the great hall.
"Princess." a gentleman said bowing to her.
"Good Evening Michael." she said with a small curtsy.
"Did you rest well?"
"Yes and you?"
"Not so much."
"Nightmares again?"
"Aye."
"Any news from the council?"
"Not yet, but your mother would like a word with you."
"Thank you I will see to her immediately."
"I shall see you later on in the night then take care."
"You too."
He bowed one last time in respect, turned and left. Walking through the great hall with ease she went to the large door of her mother's study and knocked.
"Come in." a female voice said from inside.
Natalyana opened the door and walked in closing it behind her, "You needed to see me?"
"Yes."
"How is father?"
"His health is fading, he is dying slowly it won't be much longer til he is gone."
"I understand, why did you need to see me mother?"
"Your father wants me to read you his will."
"But no-one is supposed to read it until after his ceremony."
"I know this, but it is his wish."
"Yes mother."
"Please sit with me."
Natalyana sat across from her mother's desk as her mother picked up the envelope on the book she had been reading. Her mother sat down in the chair on the other side of the desk and opened the envelope pulling out a piece of paper with her father's written words.
Then, after a moments hesitation, she began to read:
“My darling daughter, to whom I love very much. I know I am to leave you, it is Drenna's wish that I go soon. I want you to know that when I pass part of the kingdom is yours. You mother will lead the council while you lead the others. My most trusted companions will help you because I will not be there. I trust that they will help you on your very long journey and when your mother passes the entire kingdom will be yours, but I hope she is there to help you along the way.
I wish you to marry someday and have children, tell them stories about me and your mother and how we ruled as long as we did. I know I will not be there to hug them or read them stories but I will always be watching. I haven't much time left so I leave you with this; there are many races you need to be aware of, some you may have heard me speak of and others you may not, but I am sure that they will help you on your way through life.
Marcus, the Shadowdweller King, has already told me he will do his best to watch over you and he will send an aide to help you when you need it. Luciana, the Lycanthrope Queen, has told me that she too, will send an aide to help also. My child, my dearest daughter, I pray that your life is filled with happiness and joy. I leave my library and den to you and I give you my seat in the council.
I love you my child, Your father.”
Tears streamed down Natalyana's cheeks as her mother put the will away. Her father had been her lifelong hero and now that he was near death she didn't know what to do. She had the idea her father had put this together long before he was to die and now he lies in the next room on his death bed.
"Mother, may I see father?"
"Yes dear."
she got up and followed her mother to the next door. She put her hand on the door handle and turned the knob opening the door slowly. she could see her father's pale blue eyes in the dim light of the room as she walked to the side of his bed.
"Father." she whispered kissing the top of his head.
"N...Natalyana is that you my... child?"
"Yes, it is me."
"Did...you mother read my...will to you?"
"Yes she did."
"I'm...close to the end I may not make it much...longer...but know that I have...seen you I will go in peace."
"I will tell my children about you and mother and how you ruled, how you would take me places I'd never been to and I will take them there and tell them stories from my childhood."
"Thank you...my child."
He began to cough, she could sense his life ending, but when he looked at her again his eyes were dull and lifeless.
"Father?"
He didn't answer.
"FATHER!!! NO!!!" she screamed, "PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME, NOT NOW!!! DRENNA WHY NOW?"
Her mother came in as Natalyana closed his eyes with her hand and covered his head with the blanket.
"Jack." her mother whispered, "I love you my dear husband."
"Mother." Natalyana whispered.
"Go tell the others."
"Yes." she looked at her father one last time and ran out the door.
Closing the door behind her she screamed as loud as she could, hearing it echo through the large room and the rest of the palace she knew the others would heed to her cry. Michael was the first to come in as she fell to the floor crying, the others soon came, they didn't need to hear her news as they saw her cry.
"Michael, father is dead. He died right in front of me I watched him go and I couldn't do anything."
"Shh," he said putting an arm around her, "it'll be OK we're here to help you and your mother with whatever you both should need."
"I know this. You know he gave me his place in the council."
"Really?"
"Yes, I would like his ceremony to be tonight."
"I would like that too." her mother said from behind her.
"Mother."
"It's OK he is with Drenna now she will find a place for him."
"Yes mother."
"Go dry your eyes and go to the human realm to find something black."
"Yes ma'am."
"Would you like an aide to go with you." Michael said helping her up.
"No I will do this alone."
"Very well."
The night air felt good as Nathaniel walked through the Manhattan streets. He felt good being at home again, it had been a long time since he had been back in Manhattan. New York was a big place, but it didn't matter there was always something to do and somewhere to go. The streets were deserted as he walked along Main Street, even though he felt as though he wasn't alone. He began to walk across the street as the light turned green a car he hadn't seen sped up toward him.
"Look out!" a female voice yelled from the other side of the street.
Before he could run he was on his back on the other side of the street in an instant and on top of him was a beautiful woman. Long raven black hair, a pale face, and sad, electric blue eyes, she wore leather and her rose perfume drifted through his senses. He felt a tingling sensation rush though him like a raging fire as he touched her arm.
"A...Are you OK?" she asked looking into his eyes.
"Yes thank you." he said staring into the eyes of the woman who saved his life by seconds.
"Good."
She rolled off of him and stood extending her arm to help him up. She knew what the tingling sensation meant as it went through her body, even though it shocked her. As he stood he kept his eyes on her, what is a beautiful woman like her doing on the streets of Manhattan at this time of night, he asked himself.
"What are you doing out here its dangerous." he said.
"I can take care of myself thank you and I should be asking you the same thing. An besides I'm looking for something black for my father's ceremony."
"Ceremony?"
"He just died."
"Oh a funeral."
"Where I come from it is a ceremony so that Drenna will find him a place beside her."
"I'm Nathaniel."
"Natalyana," she said keeping the Princess part out of the statement, "I must hurry day will come soon."
"What's so wrong with daylight?"
"I...I have a rare skin condition," she lied, "if the sunlight hits me I'm as good as dust."
"Like a vampire."
She stopped, he was right. The Vampire Race could not go into the light because they would turn into dust just the same for the Lycanthrope, Shadowdweller and Demon Races.
"Yes, just as the Vampire."
"Do you know any Vampires?" he asked.
"Goodbye." she turned and started walking away from him, how dare he, she thought, he knows nothing of our ways.
He grabbed her arm tuning her to face him, "I'm sorry, it was a stupid question. I didn't mean anything by it."
"Yes whatever."
"So your father, what was he like?"
"He was my lifelong hero, he helped our people in whatever situation, he was highly respected and devoted to his people."
"Sounds like a president."
"Not in my society, now that he is gone my mother is to take his place. He gave me his seat in the council and after my mother passes will be in control."
"It sounds to me like your royalty."
"I am."
"I'm sorry to hear about you father," he snickered, "Princess."
She slapped him hard across the face, "My role in my kingdom doesn't concern you whether I am a Princess of a higher race or not, so you need not snicker at what I say because I am glad I do not live around people like you."
She walked away from him this time leaving him standing there amazed. Women didn't talk to him like that whether they were a Princess or not.
"Natalyana wait."
He watched her turn around he knew she was pissed, he could feel the heat of her anger radiating off of her like a time-bomb. Then out of nowhere she fell to the ground as dawn suddenly approached. He ran over to her shrugging out of his trench coat and covered her with it. He looked at her hand, as the sunlight hit it, smoke began to rise.
"Darkness," she whispered, "I need darkness. I'm very weak in the sunlight."
"I'll carry you. My apartment is around the block, I'll make it pitch black for you."
As he watched her she began to Fade and then came back.
"Too weak...can't Fade home..." she looked at him her wide eyes dull and fading, "please...help me."
"I'm going to sweetheart don't you worry."
He picked her up, she was as light as a feather. He ran as fast as he could to his apartment the sun rising as fast as he was going. Finally, they reached his building he burst through the door and ran upstairs. He sat her down next to the door and dug though his pockets for his keys, pulling them out he unlocked the door picked her up and took her inside kicking the door shut. Sitting her on the couch he rushed to the windows closing the blinds and curtains on each of them to where he couldn't see a thing. He turned around and walked over to her, letting his eyes adjust to the sudden darkness of the room.
"There we go." he said uncovering her, reaching for the oil lamp on the table he got out a long match and lit it adjusting the flame to brighten the room.
"Thank you for helping me," she whispered, "I've never been so close to death before."
He took her hand, "it's OK your safe now, I'm sorry for what I said a little while ago."
"I believe I can find it in myself to forgive you."
"Is there anything I can get you?"
"No, I just need to sleep I will be well soon."
"OK, I will be here when you get up."
"Thank...you." she said her eyes closed and she fell asleep.
Chapter 2
Night had fallen when Natalyana woke up from her sleep, for a moment she didn't know where she was until she saw Nathaniel looking out the small apartment window into the cold Manhattan night. She stood silently and walked over to him placing a hand on his shoulder. He jumped in surprise and tuned to face her.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you." she said softly.
"It's OK, I didn't hear you get up."
"I am quite the silent type."
"Yes you are." he said quietly, "what are you going to do know?"
"I must get back to the palace I must see to my mother's aide and Joshua, our healer to make sure I am alright."
"I'm sure your fine I would like you to stay so I might get to know you but if you wish."
"I will come back to you," she said, "would you like to watch me leave and how I do it you can ask questions when I come back."
"Yes."
"OK." she kissed his cheek.
He watched he take a step back and close her eyes and begin to Fade and then she was gone.
"Princess." Michael said as she Faded into the palace.
"I'm sorry I could not come back I was trapped my the daylight."
"Where did you stay?"
"A man named Nathaniel helped he. I...I think he's a Druid."
"Really how could you tell?"
"I felt the tingling sensation."
"But do you know he felt the same thing."
"I think he did."
"I will keep this between you and I, you'll be going back to him?"
"After I check with mother and Joshua to make sure I am alright, yes I will be going back to him."
"Your mother is in her study she is very upset that you did not come home last night."
"Thank you I will see to her."
Walking through the palace she was overcome with sadness. These were the halls her father had carried her through. Halls that they'd shared hide and seek and many other games they'd played and now he was gone. She walked to the door of her mother's study hesitating before she knocked. The door opened before she could blink and her mother stood before her wide eyed and in shock. She took her daughter into a tight embrace.
"Oh my daughter, I thought you were lost to us."
"No dear mother, I was trapped in the human realm by daylight a Druid helped me."
Her mother stepped away from her surprise shown on her face, "A Druid?"
"Yes mother, after I see to Joshua that I am alright may I go back to him?"
"Has your skin touched?"
She nodded silently afraid at what her mother might say.
"You may go back to him," she said, "tell him of our culture and our ways. If he accepts you for who you are then tell him about the other races and you may bring him here but ONLY if he accepts that he is a Druid and that your touch was fate."
"Yes mother."
"Now off with you, go to Joshua, he will look forward to seeing you."
"Thank you mother."
Natalyana ran through the halls, left, right, up, down, every which way until she was at the healers room, she knocked on the door.
"Come." a voice said from inside.
She opened the door and saw Joshua standing at the window looking out toward the lake his white hair glistened in the moonlight.
"Good evening Joshua."
He turned to look at her and bowed "Princess."
"It is good to see you my dear friend." she said walking over to him and clasping his shoulder.
"And you. So what brings you to me on this day?"
"I was trapped in the human realm by daylight some light hit me before I was covered by a man's trench coat, I just wanted to make sure that I am completely alright before going back."
"Lets have a look."
He pressed his hand to her forehead and closed his eyes seeing inside her then as quickly as he started he was finished.
"Everything looks fine to me."
"That's good, thank you Joshua."
"You're very welcome Princess."
"I shall see you soon. Be sure to make sure my mother's health is good."
"Will do goodbye."
Walking out of the room she shut the door behind her and closed her eyes.
Nathaniel looked out the window toward the dark streets when he head the pop of displaced air and the smell of sulfur emanating from behind him. He turned to see Natalyana standing next to the couch in all her beauty that seemed to light up the room around them. He hadn't known what to think when she had Faded for the first time in front of him or even why she had kissed his cheek, but he knew his questions would come and he hoped she had the right answers. He knew that somehow she was different from the other people he was around, but he couldn't tell.
"I told you I would come back."
"I believed you, why did you kiss me?"
"Because you helped me. I know your full of questions and they will be answered to the best of my ability."
"Yea, I just hope that they are the right answers."
"Yes," she said looking at the couch, "shall we get started."
"Sure." he sat down next to her, after a few minutes he began to speak, "Who or what are you exactly? Please tell the truth."
"I am a Nightwalker, or a Demon." she started, "Nightwalkers cannot live in the light, if the light hits us we're dead. I am of royal blood, my father was out King, but as you know he has died, now my mother takes over, she is slowly recovering from the death of my father. Once she has died I will be Queen of the entire Race."
"How many Races are there?"
"There are four but only one can live in the light. There are Lycanthropes, or Werewolves, Vampires of course, Shadowdwellers and Druids. Druids are the only Race that can live in the light, when a Demon or whomever touches a Druid they begin to feel something, a sort of tingling sensation within themselves and they are to be mated, if one is to be away from their mate for a long period of time they become weak, vulnerable, and eventually die."
"So you do know some Vampires?"
"Yes, very many actually, they are quite a nice Race."
"That's cool."
"Nathaniel, when I saved you from being hit by that car did you feel anything when you touched my arm?"
"Yes, it was like a tingle."
"That means that by that simple touch I woke your Druid half, it was fate that bought us together. Because I felt it too."
"So are we supposed to mate?"
"We are supposed to but if you wish not to then that will be fine."
"If you leave we both die, if I leave we still die, but I would like to mate with you. You are a very beautiful Demon."
"Every Race has beautiful people."
"Really?"
"Yes, all are born without any flaws."
He sat there and looked at her in amazement. He wanted to believe her, but it was so hard, no-body could make up a lie that good and yet be so convincing. He knew he had saved her life and that she was grateful, plus she had promised to come back and she had.
"Are you being absolutely honest with me?"
"Yes," she said simply, "how could you think I'm lying about my own culture?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way. Why didn't you tell me you were a Princess?"
"It is OK, I guess. And it wasn't important at the time, but my mother would like you to come with me."
"As in she wants to meet me?"
"Yes."
"OK I guess but what if she doesn't like me?"
"Then oh well."
"OK" he said.
"Shall we go then."
"Sure."
"Take my hand." she said standing up from the couch.
He stood with her taking her hand and he watched her close her eyes and he did the same. Then, he felt the darkness surround them and he felt weightless.
Natalyana opened her eyes to see her bedroom, looking beside her Nathaniel stood there with his eyes still closed, she let go of his hand.
"Open your eyes Nathaniel." she said.
She watched him open his eyes and look around her room, first, her handmade gold crested bed, next, her gold silk curtain, and finally the wooden finishing.
"If you would wait here I must change before we go to my mother, she doesn't wish to see me in this, she tells me I don't look like a Princess."
"OK."
She left him standing there as she left the room and returned in an elegant low cut dress made of many colors of silk, it was beautiful.
She looked at him and said "Come my mother surely awaits us, but I must say you must bow as a sign of respect."
"Got it." he said.
She led him through the door and down the spiral staircase. They walked through the great halls of the palace passing all the great portraits, of Joshua their healer, Ian their Commander of Weaponry and Tactical Defense, her mother, her father, herself and many others. Finally they came to her mother's study and she knocked.
"Come." a female voice said from within.
Natalyana opened the large door with ease and walked in Nathaniel close behind her.
"Mother I have returned."
He mother turned to face her and they bowed in respect.
"So this is you're Druid?" she asked surprise shown on her face.
"Yes, it is."
"What is your name young man?" she asked gesturing them to sit at her desk.
"Nathaniel." he said sitting across from her.
Natalyana watched him look at her as she sat comfortably in the chair beside him.
"Well I am very glad you were able to help my child last night."
"You very welcome, by the way I am very sorry to hear of your husband. Truly I am." he said nodding his head mournfully.
"Thank you dear." she said, "Now are you two going to share a room or is there another room to which you would Nathaniel to stay?"
"He stays with me mother." Natalyana said aggravation in her voice.
"Very well, off with you," she looked at Nathaniel with kind eyes, "it was nice meeting you, teat my daughter well she's the only one I have."
"Don't worry Your Highness, I'll take very good care of her."
Nathaniel looked at Natalyana as she shut the door to her mothers' study quietly. As they walked back through the halls, he stopped at the portrait of her father. I wonder what he was like, how he treated his daughter and his wife, he thought, if only he was still here I could ask him.
“Why are you staring at my fathers' portrait?” Natalyana said from behind him.
“I was just wondering what he was like as a father.”
“Did you not have a father?”
“Yes I had a father, but he was not like yours. My father was an abusive drunk. He beat me and my mother half to death. When he finally died of alcohol poisoning I thought of it as a blessing. The only real reason I was in Manhattan was because I was visiting my mother.”
“May...May I meet her.”
“I think she would love to meet you. Your beautiful, smart, and very gentle. She's always told me, 'your a good man who needs a good woman and when she comes along you'll be sure to treat her with gentle hands and a kind heart.'”
“She seems very nice.”
“She is but she's dying. I only wish I could take the cancer from her I wish she didn't have to go she's my best friend.”
“Nathaniel, what would you say if I told you that we have a healer that can remove any illness even a tumor or cancer?”
“Really?”
“Yes, would you like to meet him?”
“Yes, do you think he could clear my mother's cancer if I asked him?”
“If I asked I'm sure he would but Joshua isn't very fond of strangers, I must have to warn you at times he can have a very nasty attitude.”
“Understood.”
He followed her through new and different halls stopping at another wooden door with a tree and leaf engraved into the wood.
“The tree is a symbol of knowledge” she said touching the tree, then she touched the leaf, “the leaf is a symbol of life. In our culture life and knowledge are to be praised it makes up every day. We have many cravings of them in a lot of different places.”
“That's pretty cool.”
“Yes it is.” she said as she knocked on the door.
“Come in.” a male voice said from inside.
Natalyana opened the large door and walked inside the room. A fireplace in the corner of the room brought a dim glow to their surroundings, oil lamps also decorated the room with many different colors. Blue's and pink's, yellow's and green's, it made the lighting very beautiful.
“Joshua, my dear friend, I would like you to meet my Druid Nathaniel.”
Joshua turned, his white hair changing to the different colors of the lights. A smile came upon his face and his mercury eyes lit up as he looked at Natalyana and Nathaniel.
“Princess, my dearest companion, is this true? This young man a Druid are you sure?”
“Yes it is true. Nathaniel, this is our healer Joshua, he is very good at what he does.”
Nathaniel held out his hand to the healer, “Dr. Nathaniel Truman.”
“Wait.” Natalyana said, “You never told me you were a doctor.”
“It wasn't important at the time.” he said mimicking what she had said only hours before.
“What brings you to me Princess?” Joshua asked gesturing to the chairs across from him as he sat.
“We have a favor to ask of you my dear friend,” she said sitting down, “Nathaniel's mother is ill, nobody can treat her, she has cancer and I would very much like to meet her and get to know her before she dies. We were wondering if you would come to her aide and heal her.”
“I would be more than happy to help.”
Chapter 3
Morning was still hours away as they Faded into the deserted streets of Manhattan across from his mothers' home. Nathaniel walked to the door, grabbing the key from under the mat he unlocked the door and let them in. The low volume of the T.V led them into the living room where his mother lay on the couch sleeping.
“Mom.”
“Nathaniel, is that you my boy?”
“Yes mom it's me and I brought some people with me.”
Natalyana and Joshua took a step forward as he helped his mother into a sitting position.
“Why are they here?”
“This is my...”
“Girlfriend,” Natalyana finished for him, “I'm Natalyana, I wanted to meet you ma'am, this is Joshua, he's here to help cure your cancer.”
“That's impossible,” she spat, “you cannot cure cancer.”
“Mother listen to me, he can help you,” Nathaniel said looking into his mother's dull blue eyes, “I know you're dying even though you haven't told me, I mean ma seriously I work in the same hospital you go to, your doctor is going to tell me everything that's wrong with you.”
“OK.” she said still sounding unsure.
“You can trust us.” Natalyana said taking his mother's hand, “We're not going to hurt you, but my friend is going to take away your cancer.”
“How?”
“We're Demon's, Mrs. Truman that's how we're going to help you.”
She looked at them in shock, Natalyana could tell what she was thinking and she looked at Nathaniel.
“OK do what you can.” she finally said with a sigh.
“It's OK mom you'll be good as new soon.”
“You think so?”
“I know so.”
“Mrs. Truman all I need you to do is lay down and relax.” Joshua said stepping closer to the couch.
“OK.” she said laying back.
Natalyana and Nathaniel stepped back as Joshua began to heal his mother. Nathaniel looked out the window, he didn't know when Joshua would be done but he knew the sun was coming up fast, within the next hour and a half the sun would light the sky and make everything bright. Somewhere Natalyana and Joshua could not survive. Turning he saw Natalyana standing next to the fire place her eyes watching the flames dance, she held her hand into the fire and absorbed it into herself nearly putting it out.
He walked over to her, “what is your element?”
“Fire, if you weren't just watching you'd know that.”
“Your right.”
He took he hand which was still warm from the flame, “daylight is coming fast.”
“I know I can feel it approaching we must leave soon.”
“I know I wish you didn't have to though.”
“But you can always come with me remember that.”
“I have not forgotten.”
Nathaniel looked into the living room where his mother lay and Joshua at her aide finally he stood and walked toward them.
“It is done Nathaniel your mother is free of the cancer, but I must stress she will need to come to me for a check up Tomorrow.”
“I will come for her.” Natalyana said quick to volunteer, “We must leave Joshua.”
“Aye we should.”
Natalyana turned to him and looked deep into his eyes, “are you coming?”
“Yea,” her said, “I'm coming.”
Natalyana Faded into her room for the last time before the sun had fully risen, bringing light into a dark world. To her left stood Nathaniel and to her right Joshua. Joshua bowed to her and without a word left the room. She sat on her bed and looked at Nathaniel.
“It was nice of Joshua to heal my mother.”
“He knows you are my mate 'tis why he did it. Besides anyone will here will do as I ask because they care about me and my happiness.”
“Not the fact that your a Princess?”
“Not at all.” she said laying back onto her bed, “You may wander around if you wish but I am going to sleep.'
“Alright,” he paused for a minute, “I will stay with you until you go to sleep.”
“Alright.”
Nathaniel watched as Natalyana slept, she's so beautiful, he thought as he moved a strand of her raven black hair from her face. She turned her head slightly and with a sigh went back to sleep. Nathaniel stood up from the bed and walked to the door of her room and carefully opened it so he wouldn't wake her. The halls were empty, no demons walked for the sun was out. Nathaniel wondered what they did for fun o if they even had a library where he could read. After passing a few more doors and descending down the spiral staircase he made his way down a long hallway and finally came to a stop at the end of the hall. Directly in front of him wee a large pair of wooden double doors, carefully opening them he was a huge room filled with different books.
“Now that's more like it.” he whispered to himself as he entered the room shutting the doors behind him quietly.
There were so many books he didn't know where to start so he just randomly picked a section. After grabbing a few books he sat down in one of the many blood red colored chairs and opened the book.
Demonios del fuego y sus reglas
Fire Demons
and their Rulers
The first page caught him be surprise because it was written in Spanish and he could translate it. As he began to look through the book he began to read everything in Spanish.
“Entre los Demonios del fuego hay la tierra, el agua, el viento, y los Demonios del alcohol peo hajo regla de apenas una el rey de los Demonios del fuego.”
Which to him read, “Among the Fire Demons there are the Earth, Air, Water, Wind and Spirit Demons but under the rule of just one, the King of the Fire Demons.”
He was beginning to bore himself and eventually grew tired. Placing his selected books in they're right places he left the library following his steps he made his way back to Natalyana's room. Upon entering the room her smell of Lilacs filled his senses. He hadn't noticed she was wearing perfume earlier but now the room smelled wonderful. He walked to the bed where she slept and he realized then that he was really starting to like her. Sure he wasn't sure he was what she thought but hopefully a little research would help him more to understand his Druid half and more about her's.
He stripped of his shirt and carefully crawled into bed next to her trying not to wake her. Laying back onto the pillows he closed his eyes and began to imagine a new life with someone her and her family and her friends and now that they were to be together he was practically going to be a prince. He cleared his mind, more time to think about that tomorrow, he thought. Finally, after a few minutes he fell asleep.
Nunca en millón de anos quirame lamentan lo que lo hago esta noche.
-Never in a million years will I regret what I do tonight, Natalyana thought to herself as she lay awake next to the man who had saved her life. As hard as she tried to deny it she couldn't help but think about them being together. Her mind seemed to wonder away from her now as she looked at him.
She gently moved to blanket from his chest and noticed a tattoo on his side right above the hip. She didn't even know he had a tattoo so she examined it with great detail. Blinking hard she wasn't sure if she had read it correctly but to her is read “among the living are the dead”. She was pretty sure that's what it said. She let her mind wonder again as she replaced the blanket and sat up.
She quickly stood and walked to her armoire and brought out one of the many dresses that she had received from her people, blood red under black filigree lace, and her favorite of them all. Stripping it off the hanger she walked to her bathroom stripping of her clothing she turned on the shower and stepped into the warm water as it ran down her cold skin.
The warmth of the water felt good as it woke her little by little. She grabbed her shampoo and placed a glob into her hand setting the bottle down gently she ran her hands through her hair until it reached a lather that suited her and she rinsed the soap from her black hair. Turning off the water she stepped out of Victorian style tub and wrapped a towel around herself. As she dressed there was a knock on the door.
“I'll be out in a minute.” she called.
“It's alright I just got a little worried.” a male voice said through the door.
“Oh alright.”
Silence filled her ears as nothing else was said from the other side of the door. She finished drying off and dressed, the dress felt good on her skin and she walked out of the bathroom.
Nathaniel looked at Natalyana and couldn't control the reaction of his body. Before he could think his body was in total arousal as she stood before him in a for fitting dress. Suddenly the mood around them changed and he became very aware that someone was on their way to the room. There was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” Natalyana called.
The door opened and a young man probably in his mid-thirties appeared.
“Good morning Princess.” he said bowing before her.
“Good morning Michael,” she looked at Nathaniel, “Nathaniel this is Michael, Michael this is our new Druid Nathaniel.”
“It's an honor.” he said with yet another bow.
Nathaniel bowed back unsure if he was supposed to but not one of them said a word.
“Why have you come to see me this fine evening Michael?”
“I just wanted to let you know that dinner will be ready shortly, it is one of your favorite meals very exquisite.”
“Ahh yes prime rib roast with carrots, potatoes, corn, a strawberry and baby spinach salad and red strawberry wine.”
“That's a very excellent guess.” Michael said clapping.
“Thank you Michael. How is my mother?”
“She is fine. She is expecting to see both of you at dinner.”
“We will be down in a few minutes. Thank you Michael.”
Michael bowed quietly and left the room. A change of clothes were left on the bed for Nathaniel and he looked at her.
“I thought you could use some new clothes.”
“Yea thank you.”
He grabbed the clothes and went into the bathroom, stripped and put them on. They felt good, better than he thought they would. Once he washed his face and combed wet fingers through his dark brown hair he walked out of the bathroom and saw Natalyana looking out an open window. He quietly walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed the back of her head.
“I never got to properly say good morning.”
She giggled sending a cold chill down his spine. She turned around in his arms and rested her cheek on his chest closing her eyes.
“Tonight is a full moon did you know this?” she whispered.
“No I didn't know that. How did you?”
“It is the Demon way knowing the moon phases.”
“So what is so special about tonight if I might as?”
“Tonight we have our mating ritual.”
Nathaniel let out a harsh breath not out of disgust but surprise, “really?”
“Yes.” she paused thinking for a moment, “Are you not happy for tonight?”
“I am it's just surprising that's all.”
“Oh alright.”
He lifted her face and looked into her sad eyes, "Baby I'm happy for tonight really I am. It just startled me that's all."
"You know what the results will be after tonight do you not?"
"Not really no."
"After tonight you will be known as Prince Nathaniel, you will be able to help me run my part of the council and the country."
"Really?"
"Yes" she looked toward the floor "we should go now, mother will be distraught if we're late."
"Alright."
He let her lead him through the palace and into the dining area. The room was elegant with portraits, candles and chandeliers. The table was extremely long with plenty of sitting room, her mother sat at the end of the table.
"Mother." Natalyana said.
"There you two are."
"Sorry Your Highness we got caught up with conversation."
"Please call me mother." she said happily.
"OK, mother"
"Natalyana, dear, are you excited about tonight?"
"Yes, but I'm extremely nervous."
"It will be fine. What about you my son?"
"Yes, just a little nervous also"
After a moments silence dinner was served and they ate quietly. Once finished still no-one spoke as Michael entered the room.
"Ah Michael" Natalyana's mother quickly noted him in the room "Are you ready for Nathaniel?"
"Yes Ma'am"
"Nathaniel go with Michael, he will be helping you get ready for tonight."
"Yes mother" he glanced at Natalyana "I will see you later, love."
She giggled, blushing as she nodded.
"My daughter you shall come with me."
"Yes mother."
Nathaniel watched as she followed her mother through the East door and he followed Michael through the West.
"So... uh... is this kind of like a wedding?" he asked Michael as they walked through the halls.
"You could call it that yes," Michael tuned to him "do you wish to marry the Princess tonight?"
"Yea I do."
They were silent through the rest of the halls, and into a room unknown to him.
"This was the King's den, which now belongs to Natalyana."
"Let me guess he gave it to her when he passed."
"Yes, he loved her very much, she was of course, his only child. When she was little he carried her on his shoulders all through the palace, they even played hide and seek in just about every room." Michael opened a closet door as he spoke pulling out a tux.
"This is the same tux he wore when him and the queen were mated, or as you would say, married. He told me 'Michael when my daughter is to be joined with her love make sure he wears my tux and reads the letter in my tux's inside breast pocket'."
Michael handed him the tux and stepped back, "the bathroom is through there, bathe, change, and ready yourself. I will be here."
Nathaniel walked into the bathroom and closed the door.
Chapter 4
"This is the exact dress I wore when your father and I were joined." her mother said handing her a long flowing white strapless gown.
"Mother it's beautiful."
"I've always drempt this day would come."
"Mother I'm nervous."
"You will be fine Drenna will be watching over us just as your father."
"Mother what was it like when you and father wed?"
"Oh it was beautiful," she said sitting at her desk, "music, dancing, food, everything was beautiful, lights, candles, the full moon, the stars, simply amazing."
Natalyana held the dress up to herself and looked into the mirror. Her mother appeared behind her.
"Go put it on! I still need to do your hair and make up child." she said pushing her toward the bathroom.
Inside Natalyana shut the door and stripped of her dress. Unzipping the gown she stepped into it bringing it up to her breast, taking in a deep breath she brought the zipper up her back. The gown fit perfectly even though it was tight at her chest, but she could still breathe. She opened the door and her mother place a hand to her mouth.
"How do I look?"
"Simply amazing."
Her mother took her hand and led her to the vanity and sat her down. Natalyana looked at her mother through the mirror.
"How much longer do we have until the celebration?"
"About half an hour." her mother said twisting her hear into a bun.
Finally once her hair and make-up were finished she stood and walked over to the full length mirror. Oh yea he will definitely like this, Natalyana told herself as she turned to survey the back the curved outward at the base of her spine.
"You look marvelous." her mother said from behind her.
"Thanks mom."
"Come on now we haven't got time to waste."
Opening the door they nearly collided with Michael.
"Ah Michael Is Nathaniel ready?"
"He is already at the clearing, and the Princess is she ready?"
"Yes." Natalyana said stepping out from behind her mother.
"Absolutely beautiful." he said bowing to her curtsy.
"We will see you at the celebration."
"Yea Ma'am." and with that Michael turned and left.
Walking through the doors of the palace they walked only a short way to the clearing. Natalyana could hear music playing and knew the moon was about to be up. She could Nathaniel standing there waiting for her.
"Mother I am dreadfully nervous."
"You will be fine my child he will be right beside you."
After a few painstaking moments her mother finally pushed her forward and she began her walk to him with her mother close behind. Nathaniel gave her a smile as he looked at her that made her heart melt and a chill rush up her spine. She watched as Nathaniel raised his hand to her as she stepped closer to him. Taking in his they stood side by side waiting to the Earth Demon in front of them to speak.
"We are gathered on this hallowed night to join our lovely Princess and her mate and hope that they share happiness and love for one another. Nathaniel would you like to share you vows?"
"I would." Nathaniel turned to face her, "Natalyana,even though it has only been days since our first meeting I would like to take this time to express my feelings. Throughout the days after our meeting I have learned things about you and about myself that I grew to understand even though my normal mind didn't want to I did. I have experienced feeling that I have never known, feelings that I don't even share with my own mother, who sits in the rows of seats behind us. Love.
"I hope that I can be there to give you happiness and share the rest of my life with you, that our children be as marvelous as you and as beautiful as the woman I look at now. I wise woman once told me 'You are a good man who needs a good woman and when she comes along you'll be sure to treat her with gentle hands and a kind heart.' and that is what I intend to do. I love you."
Natalyana's eyes welled up with tears as he kissed her hand.
"It is your time to speak Princess." the Earth Demon said.
She turned to Nathaniel and place her hand on top of hers, "Nathaniel, throughout this short period of time you have brought me happiness, and through the sadness of losing my father you bought my joy, and there is no doubt in my mind that you will ever change that. I didn't think you would come to acknowledge what is in your blood and what you mind told you what to believe. You are an amazing man, Nathaniel.
"I have enjoyed your company and all the time we have spent together knowing more about each other. Our children will be wonderful I have no doubt in that and I hope they are as smart and as willful as you are. Though we live in the dark you bring me light, a light that warms my skin unlike the sun it does not burn. Nathaniel you are my sun, my savior and you will always be my life and I love you."
They turned back to the Demon in front of them and Natalyana could feel her heart in her throat. The Demon looked at each of them and nodded his head in silence.
"Nathaniel, do you wish to take this woman to be your lovely lady of the night, daughter of the moon, and Princess of a great leader to be your wife?"
"I do."
"Natalyana, do you wish to take this man to be your great man of day, son of the son and Doctor to a mother he loves to be your husband?"
"I do."
"May the kiss you share bind you eternally and may the love you bring relieve all pain and suffering the future may cause. You may now share this kiss."
Nathaniel turned her to face him, and looked deep into her eyes. Placing both hands on the side of her face as she tangled her fingers in his hair they kissed. Lightening passed through his blood and let out a low primitive growl. His heart pounded in his chest as held her there. Letting her go he looked into her electric blue eyes and the love she had for him. He took her hand and they turned around to face they're guests.
One by one they stood and clapped, and Nathaniel watched as his mother cried, and the Demon send their praises to Drenna. She felt Natalyana's grip tighten on his hand and he looked at her seeing the anxiousness in her eyes at what was to follow their marriage. They walked toward the candle lit tables and sat amongst the group of people already seated for the feast.
“I thought you were going to get my mother?” he asked in a quiet voice.
“Michael must have took my place as mother was getting me ready.”
“Well you look beautiful.” he said trailing a finger across her cheek.
Nathaniel watched as a deep red filled her cheeks and looked to the sky. As he looked along with her a star shot across the night sky, when he looked at her again a tear slid down her cheek.
“Your father must be happy to see his daughter happily wed.” a voice said across from them.
Nathaniel looked to see Michael who too looked at the sky, and with a smile looked at them.
“Just as I am happy to see our Princess happily wed.” He watched as Natalyana stretched out he hand to him and Michael take it, “thank you Michael.”
Michael looked at Nathaniel letting go of her hand and spoke, “I hope that you treat her well. If not then well we'll just have to see. I wish you both a good life.” and with that he stood and left.
“I think he just threatened me.” Nathaniel whispered to her once Michael was far enough away.
“Yes, I believe he did. He just wants to see me happy. And for that I am grateful to have a friend such as he, but he still should not have threatened you.”
“Yes well he should know that I will always take care of you and make you happy for as long as we live.”
Finally she looked at him and he brushed away her tears. Taking a hold of her and he brought it to his lips and kissed it.
“My daughter, might we speak together.” he mother said placing an hand on her shoulder.
“What is it mother?” Natalyana asked as she and her mother walked to the edge of the clearing.
“I am so happy for you, he is very sweet and I am glad that you found him.”
Natalyana followed her mother's gaze to him and sighed, “yea he is very sweet, and handsome as well. Even though we have only known each other for a few days I love him and how it happened I do not know, but I do mother. How I could have found one such as him still astonishes me, but it was the night of father's passing and I saved his life and in return for the daylight which approached so quickly he saved mine.”
“Well I only wish you the best of luck in your marriage may it be filled with happiness, joy and most of all love.”
Natalyana embraced her mother and whispered thanks into her ear. She walked back the Nathaniel who was dancing with his mother, and at that moment she wished her father was there to dance with her on this wonderful night. She kept walking until she found Michael and told him that when Nathaniel came to look for her to simply tell him she was at the lake.
The water was calm and beautiful as the moons' light hit it from above. Lifting her dress she knelt down to touch the waters' surface, the cool water rippled beneath her touch and she stood. Arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her back into a gentle embrace.
“I see you found me.” she whispered with a giggle.
“Yea, Michael told me you were over here,”
“How long does it usually last?” he asked kissing the back of her neck and sending chills over her skin.
“Until my mother or I say.”
“Why don't we just retire early?”
“What is it that you want to do so badly that we leave our guests with out telling where we will be?” she asked turning in his arms.
Looking into his eyes she saw his desire and she felt her insides twist. Heat rushed to her face and she was thankful it was dark out.
“I understand.” she whispered placing a hand on his cheek and kissing him.
She took his hand and they walked over to their guests, standing in the middle of the crowd she raised her hand.
“May I have everyone's attention please.” she called.
Everyone stopped to listen to what she had to say.
“Thank all of you for coming but Nathaniel and I are growing tired and would like to go rest, I hope you find your way to you're homes safely.”
He crept along the bushes and watched as the Demons slowly headed out of the clearing and to their homes. He was shocked to see the Demons' Princess married so soon after her fathers' passing. He would wait until tomorrow to deliver his master's message, only so that the newly-weds could have some privacy.
Upon entering the now empty clearing he knelt before the moon and asked forgiveness for all the wrong he had done and hoped to find someone to share happiness and an eternity with. Soon he felt as though he wasn't alone and quickly stood and turned to see the Demon's Queen before him.
“Good evening Jared, what brings you to my land on the night of my daughter's ceremony?”
“My lord has news of the rogues Your Highness.” he said with a small bow.
“Come then let us discuss this matter in my study in a different light.”
“Yes ma'am.”
Entering her bed chambers in the arms of her new husband Natalyana was ready for what was to come. Looking into his eyes she saw his need for her and she knew it was the same need she had for him. She felt herself sink onto her bed and she watched as he laid next to her, turn onto his side and look into her eyes.
“What?” she asked shyly.
“Nothing just admiring how beautiful you are tonight.”
She giggled and placed a hand on his cheek, “well you look beautiful as well.”
“Thanks,” he said with a chuckle, “I'm just glad we could get away from everyone.”
“Yes, I was starting to grow bored which is the reason I went to the lake.”
Natalyana stood and unclasped her hair letting it fall over her shoulders. Moving her hair she went to find the zipper on the back of her dress but she was having a very difficult time pulling it down.
“Here.” Nathaniel said standing behind her and unzipping the dress for her.
“Thank you.” she said looking into the mirror in front of them.
She felt his lips on the back of her neck and trail kisses over her shoulder making her smile, turning around she kissed him.
“You are mine, and I am yours. We alone must finish the ceremony.” she said dropping her dress to the floor.
She watched a smile cross his face as he took off his clothes and kissed her hard. He broke the kiss and went to her neck, nipping at it like a lover, and slowly proceeded down her chest. Natalyana's breath caught in her throat, he licked her and took her breast in his hands licking and tasting both of them. Her head rolled back, oh my, she thought, as he went to her belly. In the span of a second and he had her laid back on the bed, nude, looking at her as if she were prey.
He took off everything he was wearing and she just looked at him drinking in his perfection, she could see every muscle flex as he moved closer to her, his dick was hard and she knew he wanted her. He spread her legs as to get closer and brushed up against her, she shrieked in surprise and giggled at his reaction.
"Sorry." she whispered.
He didn't say anything he just slowly slid into her, Natalyana gasped throwing her head back at the pain and pleasure of having him inside her. He began to thrust his hips into hers putting himself deeper inside her, as she ground her hips into his. Her back arched from the the bed as he became more fluid with each movement.
He bent forward and kissed her chest, her neck, and her face sending goosebumps all over her hot skin. She touched him, his skin was burning, hot enough to burn the palms of her hands as she ran them up his chest. He thrust in harder, deeper than he was before, and she could feel herself building to a release. He brought her legs up over his shoulders and thrust in harder, getting faster every minute.
Finally it happened, the explosion taking place inside of her body sent liquid fire through her veins, her body writhed against him and she could tell he was close too. She watched Nathaniel make his last few moves inside her and watched as he began to shake. He was relieved, that much she was certain, as he pulled out of her body and fell onto the bed next to her.
“Thus brings an end to the ceremony.” Natalyana whispered kissing him.
“Yep.”
Laying her head on his chest she closed her eyes and silently fell into a deep sleep.
Chapter 1
I felt the bite of the razor as I dragged it across my skin, and I watched crimson drops fall from my wrist. I sighed in relief as I made another cut, then another, and another. Putting the razor down on my desk I could feel my blood begin to coagulate, as my stomach began to growl with hunger and licked the blood off my wrist not wanting to waste any of my precious life force. As the bleeding slowed to a stop, I looked out my window and into the front yard as the sun grew brighter as it rose. Turning I checked the clock beside my bed, 6:30 time to get ready for school, I thought to myself as I stood and walked to the closet. Opening the door I pulled out a pair of black leather skinny jeans, a black leather corset top, and grabbed my black leather boots.
Stopping at my dresser I found my black lace sleeves and grabbed a pair of black socks and black underwear from the top drawer. Walking into my bathroom I closed the door behind me as I looked into the mirror at the face I ridiculed, pale skin, ice cold blue eyes, and a pouty mouth. I decided to put my eyeliner on for the first time, I knew I didn't wear make up but that was about to change. Grabbing my eyeliner I opened it and dragged it across my eyes above and under. Once finished with my eyeliner I put it away and stripped out of my happy bunny pajamas and slipped on my underwear and socks, stepping into my pants I jumped up and down until I got my feet through them and buttoned them at my waist.
The corset was last as I wrapped it around me, buttoned it and turned it to fit. Once I was adjusted into my corset, I slipped on my boots and zipped them up. Without looking in the mirror I ran a brush through my straight long black hair. With my eyes closed I turned toward my full length mirror and opened my eyes. Dear Goddess, I actually look good, I thought to myself before opening the door and walking into my room slipping on my sleeves.
Grabbing my books I looked at the clock once more, 7:00 now just a five minute ride to school and then I can do whatever, I thought as I grabbed my keys, walked out of the room, through the living room and into the kitchen where I saw my mother doing the dishes.
“Good morning mother.” I said startling her.
She turned to look at me, her eyes grew wide with astonishment that I was wearing eyeliner, “Good morning Natalyana, headed to school so soon?”
“Yes.”
“Well have a good day.”
“I'll try.” I said opening the door to the garage.
Stepping into the garage I closed the door behind me as I unlocked my beautiful black 2010 mustang gt. Throwing my books in the passenger seat, sitting down I buckled my seat belt, I closed the door put the key in the ignition and started the engine. Pushing the button on the garage door opener I heard the garage door begin to open, once it was all the way up I backed out of the driveway pressed the button to closed the garage and headed to school.
Passing the post office and my mother's work plus a dozen or so houses, I finally made it to school as I pulled into the parking lot of Alexander Senior High. The parking lot was full of people who looked at my car as I parked and shut off the engine. Taking a deep breath I unbuckled my seat belt, grabbed my books and opened the door. Stepping out of the car, everyone stopped talking and turned their gazes my way. Some girls whispered and some guys whistled but one did nothing but stare. I had never seen the guy before, he was tall about 6'0”, short black hair, blue green eyes with a full mouth and pale, he looked simply amazing and beautiful. Closing the door and locking up the car I began to walk toward the building as the mysterious stranger continued to stare.
“Natalyana!” a voice called from behind me.
Turning around I saw Sabrina running toward me her blonde hair flowing behind her.
“Hey Sabrina.” I said when she caught up.
“Oh my goodness your actually wearing make up.” she said out of breath.
“Yea what about it.”
“I like it.”
“Me too. Do you know who that guy is over there?”
“I have no idea. Why don't you go find out, he seems to be interested in you.”
“I'll wait for him to come to me.”
“Well you don't have to wait long because here he comes.”
On purpose I stopped and turned around running into him dropping my books everywhere.
“I am so sorry, I'm such a klutz.” I said as Sabrina giggled beside me.
“It's alright.” he said picking up my books.
I watched as stood and as he handed me my books my eyes met his. His blue green eyes glittered in the sunlight and I couldn't bring myself to look away.
“I'm Jason.” he finally said as took my hand and kissed it.
“I'm Natalyana.” I said feeling heat rush to my face.
Something in the back of my mind told me to run away that he was dangerous, but I didn't listen. Suddenly he turned my wrist over and moved my sleeves, uncovering my hidden self inflicted wounds.
“Why do you do this to yourself?” he asked kissing my wrist.
Sabrina came up and gasped when she saw what he was talking about.
“Natalyana you said you wouldn't cut anymore.” she said and with tears in her eyes she walked away.
“I really wish you hadn't done that.” I said looking at him angrily.
“I'm sorry.” he said looking at the ground.
“How did you even know?”
“I could smell it.” he said looking me dead in the eyes.
“Great another Vampire wanna be.” I said turning away from him and heading to my car.
As I reached the driver's side Jason suddenly appeared on the other side startling me.
“What do you want?” I asked unlocking the car and opening the door.
“To know why you do that to yourself and to get to know you.”
“Get in.” I said as I sat behind the wheel and throwing my books into the backseat.
Jason got in quickly, shut the door and buckled up. Shutting my door and buckling my seat belt I started the car and pulled out of the parking lot.
“Where are we going?” he asked breaking the deathly silence held between us.
“To my favorite place to think.” I said turning on the radio to 104.5 the local hip hop station.
When Love The Way You Lie came on I couldn't help but to sing along even though Jason was right beside me, listening to every word I sang. Making a right turn on Sycamore ST. I unfastened my seat belt, and I heard a click as Jason did the same. Sycamore ST. was like an autobahn, so I revved the engine until I hit eighty and of course slowing at turns. Passing trees, back roads, creeks and rivers, until I could see the arch of iron gates. Parking on the side of the road I shut the car off and got out shutting my door gently, and started walking toward the gate. I heard Jason shut the door of the car as he got out and leaves crunch as he followed me. Slipping through the opening and entering the cemetery, we walked through dozens of headstones and up to a lone tree at the top of a hill. Sitting down with my back against the tree I took off my sleeves revealing at least a dozen or more scars from self mutilation.
“Do you really want to know why I do this to myself?”
“Yes I would like to know.”
“I do it out of pain, sadness, anger and just to watch my blood flow from my veins.”
Jason took my hand in his and turned it over looking at my wrist, with his other hand he ran his fingers up and down my forearm sending a tingling sensation down my spine. Closing my eyes I tilted my head back against the tree, his touch was gentle as his fingers trailed up to my neck and back down my arm. I tried to hold back the grin forcing itself upon my face but I couldn't help it.
“What?” he asked breaking the silence between us.
I opened my eyes and looked at him, “it's nothing really.” I said.
He stood and motioned me to slide forward, and as I did he stepped behind me and sat down his back against the tree and his chest against my back. I leaned against him and I could feel his breath on the back of my neck as he began to rub my shoulders. My head tilted to the side and my hair fell away from my neck as I closed my eyes again.
There it is her most vulnerable spot, I thought as I continued rub her shoulders sliding my thumb over the sensitive spot on her neck. I could feel the usual pain in my mouth that over took when I wanted to feed but I knew I couldn't. Not here, not yet, I thought burring my face into the back of her head. Hearing her sigh made me wish I had a heart, I knew if I did have a heart it would be beating as fast as a hummingbirds wings. I was in the presence of a beautiful female, she looked as though I knew her from long ago but I knew she couldn't be who I thought she was.
“What is it?” she asked, her breath warm against my hand.
My stomach tightened at the sound of her voice and my dick hurt as I forced myself to calm down only to be able to say, “It's nothing.”
She turned to look at me, “Jason something is either bothering you or you want to run away and leave me alone.”
“I would never run from you. It's you who should run away from me.”
I watched as she began to pick at her wrist, and the smell of blood caught my attention as a stream of crimson ran down her wrist and saw the razor in her delicate fingers. I stood trying to understand why she would do such a thing that would end up making me lose control.
She stood and held out her wrist to me, “Take it.”
“No.” I said breathless, no-one had ever asked me to take their blood freely.
“Why?”
“I could kill you.”
“I trust you.”
“You shouldn't trust me, I could kill you. Your blood smells delicious but I may not be able to stop myself.”
“I would rather be dead than to live this life alone, please take it.” she said as her eyes filled with tears.
I took her wrist in my hand and licked up the blood that was making its way down her arm, I let my fangs come forth and sank them into her wrist. I heard her sigh as though in relief as I drank from her, such a delicacy just slow it down, I thought to myself. Something in her blood told me to stop and so I did, sliding my tongue over her wrist healing both the incision and my puncture marks. I looked up at her and saw the smile on her face before she dropped to her knees with her back against the tree.
“Natalyana, I'm sorry did I take to much.” I asked taking her face into my hands.
“I'm fine Jason.” she whispered her ice blue eyes looking into his.
“Something in your blood told me to stop and so I did.”
“Jason, my blood didn't tell you to stop my mind did.”
“What do you mean?”
“My thoughts run through my blood its my heritage.”
“Your heritage?”
“Yes, my heritage I'm a Witch.”
Witches, I thought, is that why her blood tasted so delicious? I had heard that a Witch's life force was strong but I didn't know that it could taste so good. Witch's were known worldwide for their craft and the persecution they had went through in the early 19th century. I already knew that witchcraft in this little town of Alexandria was forbidden and if anyone was to find out she would be shunned and or banished.
“So I take it no-one knows that you are a Witch?”
“No,” she said looking at the ground, “nobody knows not even Sabrina, and she's my best friend.”
“Don't you think she knows that your hiding something from her?”
“Yea, I do think she knows that I'm hiding something from her but she doesn't say anything about it. I wish she would bring it up so that I could be honest with her.”
“And risk being shunned or banished just because of your heritage.”
“I really wouldn't care no-one likes me around here and I spend most of my time here with the dead. Even when I'm with Sabrina I feel off somehow, I don't know if she's my friend because she feels sorry for me or because she wants to. I would love to leave this horrible little town.” I watched as she jumped, reach for her pocket and pulled out her cell phone.
“It's Sabrina.” she said once she flipped it open.
“Answer it.”
“Hello?” she asked putting it on speaker.
“Hey Natalyana, what are you doing and why aren't you at school.”
“I'm somewhere I like to go and I left after you saw my cuts and Jason is with me.”
“Oh really now? So why did you leave school after I saw your cuts?”
“Because I figured you would say something to someone about it.”
“Well I didn't.”
“Sabrina I need to tell you something.”
“What is it?”
“I'm a...”
“Your a what?”
“I'm a Witch.” and with that she hung up and turned off the phone.
I watched as she dropped her phone onto the ground and placed her head on her hands as she closed her eyes, but when her eyes shot back open, snatched up her phone and stood I knew that something was wrong.
“What is it Natalyana?”
“She told, oh Great Goddess she told.”
“Lets go.”
“Go where? There is nowhere to go in this damn town for me to hide.”
“We won't stay here we'll so where ever you want.”
“I would rather know my punishment, I would like to be banished even if it means being alone.”
“You won't be alone.”
“What do you mean?”
“I'm going with you.”
“Why would you want to come with me.”
“I drank from you, your blood is in my veins I'll know exactly where you are.”
“Alright.” she said reluctantly taking his hand, “Lets go.”
I followed her out of the cemetery and into the car, where she started the engine, turned the car around and sped down Sycamore ST.
“Are you sure you want to do this.” I asked.
“Yes, it is something that I need to do and I hope they do banish me.”
“Why.”
“Because they can't banish my mother.”
“And why can't they banish her?”
“Because she's not a Witch, that's the thing with my heritage it skips generations, my great grandmother wasn't a Witch, but my grandmother is, my mother isn't and therefore I am.”
“I see.”
I looked at him and took his hand, “and now I know that I should never trust anyone in a town that is against Witches.”
“But you can trust a Vampire right off the bat?”
“Yes, I have always been into the Vampire scene.”
As we rode into town we saw grandparents, mothers, fathers, children, grandchildren, and so many others standing in the town square. Driving past the square we pulled into the driveway of my house, got out of the car and walked inside where I found my mother at the kitchen table.
“Natalyana Alana Itola, go pack all of your things and go to the town square you are to be judged for your Witchcraft and sentenced immediately. Who did you tell?”
“I told Sabrina.”
“Your best friend?”
“Supposed to be my best friend.”
“Okay now who is this?”
“This is Jason and he will be coming with me.”
“And what is his heritage.”
“Would you like to show her or should I tell her?'
“I'll show her.”
I watched as his eyes turned black and his fangs protrude from his gums. My mother jumped back with a gasp and placed her hand on her throat.
“Sorry Mrs. Itola, but I'm not hungry anymore.”
She looked at me, “You let him feed from you.”
“Yes I did and I hope they banish me at my sentencing. Come on Jason lets go pack my things.”
On the way to my bedroom I stopped at the hallway closet opened the door and grabbed my suitcases. Walking into my room I opened my dresser drawers and stuffed everything in the four drawers into one suitcase. With one I emptied my closet as Jason took down all of my posters and put my books into the last two and in backpacks. Once all of my things were packed we loaded everything into the car and walked back into the house.
“Okay, mom, all of my things are packed and loaded into the car so we will be leaving now.”
“Go straight to the square.”
“Yes boss.”
Leading Jason outside we got into the car and went straight to the square, where the townspeople were waiting like a mob only without torches and pitchforks. Students watched in amazement as I parked the car and Jason and I stepped out.
“Natalyana Alana Itola, you are here by charged with Witchcraft! How do you plead?” the mayor of the small town said over the voices of the crowd.
“Guilty.” I said as the crowd silenced.
“Since you have plead guilty to this forbidden act you a therefore banish from this peaceful town of Alexandria.”
“And I will be more than happy to leave this boring little town. Oh, yes, I almost forgot, Sabrina where are you?”
Sabrina stepped out of the crowd and looked at me with a look of sorrow, disbelief shot through me as I looked at her. She was supposed to be my friend I told her my deepest and darkest secret only to sell me out.
“Sabrina you were supposed to be my best friend and you sold me out. I could have turned you into something very hideous but honestly, I'm glad you told I'm extremely happy to finally get out of this boring little piece of crap town.”
“Natalyana I'm sorry.”
“Yea whatever. Come on Jason.”
Jason followed me to the car and we got in and shut the doors. I started the car and peeled out of the square and toward the city limits. Switching on the radio I turned up the speakers as loud as they could go and turned my gaze to Jason.
“Where do you want to go?” I asked remembering that he had said we could go wherever I wanted.
“Like I said earlier we can go anywhere you like.” he said with a smile that was irresistible.
Crossing over the county line I kept driving, thinking about where I wanted to go. Looking over at Jason I smiled as he looked out the window toward the passing woods and cemeteries. Stopping at the gas station of the next town known as Serene, we stepped out of the car to stretch.
“Would you like something to drink?” Jason asked closing the passenger side door gently.
“Yes, and I could use something to snack on also.” I said handing him some money, “I also need twenty dollars in gas.”
“Alright.”
I watched as Jason walked into the gas station and disappeared into the back. Leaning against the side of the car I waited for him to return before I started pumping the gas. I watched as Jason walked through the door with a bag in one hand and change in the other. Placing the bag into the car he came around and grabbed my hand as I reach for the pump.
“You get in the car and let me take care of the gas.” he said kissing my hand and grabbing the pump in his other.
“Okay if that's what you want to do I won't stop you.” I said opening my door and climbing into the car.
Looking into the side mirror I watched him pump the gas, my goddess, I thought to myself as I bit my lip, he is fucking fine. A sudden movement at the side of the store caught my attention drawing me from my thoughts. An old man, about sixty-five, stumbled and fell against the brick wall separating the station from the wilderness on the other side. I could smell the malt liquor on the old mans breath even from a distance making me gag. Turning my head I saw Jason sitting next to me shutting the door after him.
“Are you ready.”
“Uh, yea.” I said starting the car and pulling out onto the road.
We drove for what seemed like hours in silence only stopping to stretch or use the bathroom. I looked at him to catch him looking at me and I blushed as I looked at the road, I couldn't get him off my mind and every time I looked at him my heart did a back flip, I pushed the thought away and continued driving still trying to think about what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. Passing over the state line and into Tennessee, I stopped the car and looked at him.
“What?” he asked looking at me.
“I want you to turn me.”
He jack knifed in his seat, “What? Why?”
“Because I've always wanted to be a vampire instead of a Witch but if you don't want to that's fine.”
“Good 'cause I won't.”
“And why not?”
“Because I don't want to be the one to ruin your life.”
“Oh yea, like my life ain't fucked up as it is.”
“I'm sorry but I just can't do it.”
“Okay whatever.”
I turned in my seat and started the car, squealing tires as I pulled off the embankment.
I watched her as she drove, I knew she was mad but I also knew that I was right, I couldn't turn her, I would probably ruin her life if I did change her. But I just couldn't do it not now not until I knew she was ready. I hadn't meant to hurt her but it wasn't the right time because when I knew it was the right time she would too. I looked out my window at watched the trees pass by, we were in the middle of nowhere, and I had no clue as to where we were going but I didn't bother to ask. Laying my head against the seat I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
His gentle snores brought me from my thoughts, I looked at him as he slept and slowly brought the car to a stop at an embankment and shut it off. I'm pretty sleepy myself, I thought leaning my seat back and closing my eyes. Taking a deep breath I centered my chi into my hands placed them on my head to ease my approaching headache, I saw an image of Jason in my mind and focused trying to find out why he seemed to be etched into my mind. Leaning the seat back into its sitting position I started the car and started driving. I listened to his slow breathing even though I was concentrated on my driving.
“Why don't you get some sleep?” Jason asked startling me and making me jump in my seat.
“I don't know what your talking about, I'm not tired.”
“Yes you are. I can see it in your eyes, pull over and get in the back I'll drive.”
“Fine.” I said stopping the car and putting it in park.
Stepping out of the car I opened the back door and climbed in laying down. I watched as Jason got into the driver's seat and started driving every once in a while glancing into the rear view mirror to look at me.
“What?” I asked when he looked at me for the third time.
“It's nothing.”
“Don't you lie to me,” I said poking him in the back of the head, “I know there is something going on in that handsome head of yours.”
“I was just wondering if you were still mad at me.”
My breath hitched in my throat and I didn't know what to say, was I still mad at him? I thought to myself as I climbed into the passenger seat. I looked out the window for a few long silent moments as I tried to find the right words to say.
“I'm not mad at you. You were right of course and I was stupid to even ask that of you.”
“It's okay.” he said looking at me with a smile.
I looked at him and smiled not knowing what else to say. Taking a deep breath I let it out slowly and centered my chi into my hands again placing them onto my forehead and the back of my head as a stress headache suddenly appeared making me wince in pain. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back against the seat still trying to get Jason's face out of the back of my mind. The only problem with that was the more I concentrated the more vivid he became, and the harder it made it to forget about him as I finally drifted off to sleep.
Please get out of my mind, her thoughts whispered through my mind. I could hear her voice and it was nearly driving me insane, the soft luscious tone of it made my body numb and my thoughts jumble. I continued to drive as I listened to her labored breathing as she slept. Passing over the Kentucky state line I stopped at a motel to get a room. Opening the car door I stepped out shutting it quietly I walked to the office and opened the door.
“Good evening the young man.” an elderly woman said from behind the front desk. The pungent smell of cigarettes and perfume radiated off her nearly making me sick as I came up closer to the front desk.
“I would like to get a room for two for the next few days.” I said to the old woman as I pulled out my wallet.
“And why a room for two?”
“My friend is in the car she fell asleep on the ride.”
“Ah I see,” she looked down at the computer screen in front of her as she lit up a cigarette, “I'll let you have the room for a week for $200.”
“That will be fine thank you very much ma'am.” taking the money out of my wallet as she handed me the key to the room
“You all have a nice night now.”
“You too.” I said as I walked out the door.
Walking back to the car I opened Natalyana's door and tapped her on the shoulder.
“Natalyana wake up.” I said with a gentle voice.
I watched the fluttering of her eyelashes as she opened her eyes slowly, and she smiled at me.
“Where as we?” she asked her voice soft even after waking up.
“We are at a motel in Kentucky, I got us a room for two and I figured we could use it as a place to stay for about a week.”
“That's good idea.” she whispered, “thank you.”
Holding out my hand she took it and I helped her out of the car and to our room. Unlocking the door I let her enter before myself and closed the door behind me. The room was large, two twin beds sat in the middle of the room, a microwave and a mini-refrigerator sat against the far wall next to a door-less bathroom. I watched as Natalyana walked over to one of the beds and jumped onto it hugging one of the pillows.
“Is that better than the car?” I asked sitting on the other bed that was now mine.
“Much, thank you.” she whispered into the pillow.
As though I couldn't help but to move I stood and walked to the mini-refrigerator and opened it, of course it was empty. Closing the fridge I walked to the door and took the keys out of my pocket.
“Natalyana I'll be back I'm going to run to the store and get us something to eat and then bring in one of your bags so you have something to wear tonight to sleep in.”
I waited for her reply but when I didn't get one i figured she went to sleep and I walked out the door and closed it quietly behind me.
I woke up to find myself alone in a dimly lit motel room, jumping out of bed I rushed to the door and swung it open looking for Jason but I couldn't see him anywhere and my car was gone. My heart began to break, why did he strand me here, I thought, is he going to come back? Tears began to stream down my face at the thought of being here alone in a strange place as I closed the door and slid to the floor crying. Why didn't he tell me he was leaving? I wondered as I looked up at the ceiling, maybe he did and I fell asleep. A jarring of the door brought me from my thoughts as I stood and opened the door looking straight into Jason's eyes, breaking into more tears. Jason dropped everything at that moment and wrapped his arms around me.
“Why did you leave me?” I asked against his now tear stained shirt.
“I told you before I left but you had already fallen asleep by then so I thought I would be back before you woke up and that I could have already made you something to eat.”
Pulling away from him I wiped the tears from my eyes and stepped back and watched him gather the bags off the ground bring them in and kick the door shut, sitting on the bed I placed my head in my hands. What the hell is wrong with me? I asked myself rubbing my eyes with the palms of my hands. I usually never cried especially over a guy I had just met but for some reason I just couldn't help myself. I looked back up to see Jason putting a T.V dinner into the microwave and setting it for three minutes and thirty seconds. Laying down on the bed I stared up at the ceiling until my eyes began to sting and water forcing me to blink, the microwave went off making me jump into a sitting position.
“It's okay.” Jason whispered to me as he walked over to the microwave.
I watched as he pulled out the T.V dinner and set it on the counter next to the fridge, and opened a box of plastic forks. Once he had the other T.V dinner in the microwave he dug into one of the bags and pulled out a bag of plastic cups and two 2-liters of soda, one Mountain Dew and one Dr. Pepper. The timer on the microwave went off and he pulled out the dinner before pouring the drinks. He set my dinner in front of me and my drink on the bed side table then grabbed his and went and sat on the other bed. Grabbing the remote control I turned on the the T.V and since it was Wednesday I turned it on to the Syfy channel to watch Ghost Hunters. I looked down at my dinner chicken nuggets mac & cheese and a brownie it all looked good but my stomach turned over making me jump off the bed, run into the bathroom, and vomit into the toilet.
I watched her vomit into the toilet and wondered what was making her sick she hadn't even touched her food and yet she was in the bathroom. When she fell back against the wall and began to cry I stood, walked into the bathroom and knelt beside her. She leaned into me and I wrapped my arms her trying my best to comfort her, by stroking her back and her hair.
“Natalyana it's okay.” I whispered into her hair.
“No it's not. I shouldn't be throwing up, all I did was look at my food and I guess I just got sick.”
“You got sick because you haven't eaten anything since I took your blood.”
“I guess you could be right.” she said whipping away her tears.
I helped her up as she struggled to stand while placing a arm around her leaning her against him and walking her into the other room sitting her on her bed. Sitting at her side her I picked up one of her chicken I blew on it to cool it down some and put it to her lips. As she bit into it her lips touched my fingers sending fire through my veins and making my thoughts jumble. He watched the color return to her pale face as she felt what I did but she remained quiet and continued eating. I stood and walked to the other bed, sat down and began to eat my dinner, looking at the T.V.
When she moved I stopped eating and looked at her, I watched as she stood and went to the trashcan to throw her trash away as she gripped the counter. I could feel heat radiating from her like a heatwave and could sense her dizziness. I was by her side in an instant to catch her as she fell back toward the floor. Picking her up I laid her on the bed and watched as her eyes rolled into the back of her head. Her skin grew hot beneath my touch as my fingers trailed up and down her arms. I could feel the desire rise in the pit of her belly sparking my own arousal. When she looked at me her eyes had changed from their electric blue to a deep seductive green.
“Well hello there stranger long time no see.” she said in a voice that was delicate yet firm.
“Alexandria.” I said in a rush as reality hit me.
Alexandria, that's why I was drawn so intently on the little town, she was the reason the town got it's name. The town was the home of Vampire's, Witch's, and Human's even though the Human's were mainly in charge, but Vampire's and Witch's had to keep their identities secret, before the town got it's name it was just an unknown destination, but on the day Alexandria was born everything changed. Now I understood why I was so amazed when seeing Natalyana, they were identical. Their eyes that changed from electric blue to green, the black hair, pale skin, and being a witch.
Alexandria brought beauty to the townspeople's eyes and thus they named their little town after her. It wasn't until she was thirteen that her powers were awakened and the people noticed she wasn't normal and thus started the persecutions and she was sentenced to death but it took five years until she reached the age of eighteen to finally commit the act. I was also eighteen at the time and Alexandria was the love of my life. We had planned spending the rest of our lives together, but her secret was out and she was forced to die.
“Are you just going to sit there and stare or are you going to speak?” she asked breaking me away from my thoughts.
“Why are you doing this to her?”
“I'm not hurting her she is perfectly fine, besides why are you so worried, your still in love with me aren't you?”
“But Alexandria your dead.”
“I am dead only to Human's and Vampire's, but to a Witch's foresight spirits are as real as you. Spirits of Witch's can take over another thus we are able to speak. I'm glad you remember me.”
“Well of course I remember you it's been two centuries since you were burned at the stake.”
“Oh don't remind me, those back stabbing townspeople, besides I found out that after I died my mother gave birth to another daughter. Where did you find my descendant?”
“In Alexandria.” I said looking at her trying to find Natalyana in her eyes.
Jason take my hand, Natalyana's voice ran through his thoughts as clear as crystal.
But why I thought just to see if she would hear me.
So I can get her out of me, she whispered though my mind.
I took her hand, following her directions I watched her eyes roll back again she skin grew hot and cooled as her eyes came forward in they're original electric blue color.
“You knew her didn't you?” she asked catching her breath.
“Yes, I did a long time ago.”
“How long ago?”
“Two centuries, her parents named her Alexandria and the town was named after her but when they found out she was a Witch she was persecuted and burned at the stake. Even then being what we are was forbidden only the consequences were much worse.”
“Were you in love with her?”
“Yes, at one time I was, but in the end my love for her disappeared but when I saw you, you looked so much like her that I couldn't help but to stare and it brought back so many lost memories that I thought were gone.”
I stood and walked to the other side of the room, trying to put a distance between us so the urge in my gut to take her would settle down and disappear. I paced the space between the far wall and the T.V my thoughts jumped around in my head making me not think clearly. Turning I placed my head against the wall trying to calm my feelings. Warm, tender fingers ran down my neck and back leaving a trail of fire behind their touch. I turned to see Natalyana and the urge to take her grew stronger as she an her fingers down my arm.
I could feel the tension between us and I didn't like it, and all I could do was try to comfort him somehow. His eyes were black as he looked deep into my eyes as though trying to find Alexandria somewhere deep inside me, then taking me into his arms he crush his mouth onto mine holding my head so that I didn't turn away, his tongue slipped over my lips parting them to gain entrance as he growled for dominance. My body gave in, melting into him as I wrapping my arms around his neck and he slowly moved toward the bed. Suddenly, he pushed away as though realizing what he was doing, and I landed on the bed with a quiet bounce.
“I... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that.” he said quietly as he leaned against the wall sliding to the floor.
I stood from the bed and walked over to him and knelt down by his side, “Jason it's okay I didn't mind, actually I rather enjoyed it. You need not to be ashamed of what you have done you acted on feelings and that's all that matters. You are in control of yourself and you stopped yourself that shows strength.”
“The urge was just so strong it took over and I couldn't stop myself.” he huffed looking at me his eyes back to their blue green color.
“Well since I can't change your mind by telling you that it was okay then I will just leave you be.” with that I stood, grabbed my keys and walked outside slamming the door behind.
Popping the trunk to my car, I grabbed a small suitcase, two backpacks and closed the trunk. Walking back into the motel room Jason still sat in the floor against the wall as I set my backpacks in the floor and my suitcase on the bed. Opening it I grabbed a pair of shorts a oversized t-shirt and my razor, and walked into the door less bathroom for a shower.
I looked at Jason one last time as I started the shower and started to strip, as I got down to my bra and underwear I could feel his eyes one me. Sticking my hand behind the curtain I adjusted the nozzle and the temperature only after I stepped in and closed the curtain behind me did I take off my bra and underwear. The warm water felt good as it streamed down my chilled body as I ran my fingers through my hair. I looked at the small bottle of shampoo and grabbed it popped off the top and poured a glob of it into my hand I worked at my hair until I had a nice thick lather then rinsed it out.
Her lips tasted like sugar and I could still feel her arms around my neck. If I hadn't stopped myself I would've taken her right then and there, not giving a damn about how much she would scream or fight me off, I would have taken her either way. I stood from the floor and walked to my bed laying down on the bed I stared up at the ceiling, I could smell the fresh strawberry shampoo that she had put into her hair and the dove scented soap she used on her body, but the smell of her blood was what brought me from my thoughts as they nearly drove me to the edge of oblivion.
The water cut off and I heard the curtain opened even before I could turn my eyes away. I saw her, her pale body wet from the shower, skin that looked like satin, and her hair even when wet still fell beautifully around her face. She looked at me with a smile on her face that said you can look at me anyway you want too, but still I closed my eyes and turned over onto my side facing the window.
“I'm done now.” she said as I heard her walked into the room.
I turned and looked at her, now in an oversized t-shirt and very short shorts as the flesh between her thighs rubbed together as she walked to her bed, “how was it?” I asked not knowing what else to say.
“Oh it felt amazing.” she said looking at me as she ran a brush through her hair straightening it.
I watched as she grabbed a bottle of oil spray and spritzed her legs, arms, neck, and belly then rubbed it in, as she stood I watched as her skin glistened against the light as she walked to the mini-fridge to pour herself a drink. I stood from the bed and walked over to her, setting her drink down I turned her around to face me. I couldn't help but to touch her, as I ran my fingers across her neck and put an arm around her waist, as she looked at me with eyes that were not blue in color but a different color, a color I'd never seen before, it was a light purple.
“Please.” she whispered as she tilted her head baring her neck to me.
I could see the pulse in her neck as fangs protruded from my gums growing into sharp points and bit into her neck, my throat closing from anticipation. Her blood slid down my throat soothing it as I drank from her, and I heard her sigh in relief and could feel her desire as her thoughts ran through my head. Again her blood told me to stop and I did as I was told, even though I didn't want to stop. I healed the marks by sliding my tongue over her neck and looked at her. As she wrapped her arms around my neck she kisses me getting rid of the bloody evidence on my lips.
I could feel his erection through his pants as he held me tight against his hard body making me whimper as he set me up on the counter sliding in between my thighs. Our kisses deepened, even as Alexandria tried to break through. His hands were hot as they ran down my legs, and his kisses trailed down my neck leaving fire in its place. A banging on the door interrupted us and Jason pushed away from me, as I whimpered for release.
I heard Jason growl as he walked to the door and opened it, “yes?”
“I'm sorry to interrupt,” a female voice came through the open door and the strong smell of cigarettes followed, “but you staying a week will not be possible so I'm going to need you to leave in the morning.”
“That is fine but I'm going to need my money back.”
“Here you go.” she said as I walked to my bed and she handed him the money, “thank you for understanding.”
With the she turned and left and Jason slammed the door closed leaning back against it. His eyes had went back to blue and I sat on the bed and grabbed a book from my backpack. Laying back against the pillows I opened the book but I looked at Jason who looked like he was in a very bad mood. I looked back down at my book as Jason punched the wall startling me making me look up as he flexed his hand. Standing I placed my book on the bed and went to him taking his hand as he flinched, centering my chi into my hands, I healed his hand.
“How does that feel?” I asked letting go of his hand.
“Good, thanks.”
Walking back to the bed I laid down and looked at the clock beside the bed on the nightstand, 8:30 pm, grabbing my book I started reading. After a few pages in I put the book down on the table and slid under the covers turning off the light on my table.
“I'm going to sleep, good night Jason.”
“Good night.”
Turning over I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
I watched as she slept peacefully in her bed as I paced around the room. But the urge to take was still in my gut, it was all I could think about, and I could still feel her arms around me. I shook my head to get the the image of me buried deep inside her out of my mind. I need some fresh air, I thought as I walked to the door and opened it and closed it quietly so I wouldn't disturb her. The air was cool for a summer night but I didn't care it felt good, standing by the door I heard Natalyana whimpering in her sleep, I took a deep breath trying to calm my feelings. Walking back into the room I looked at her, her black hair fell across her face and pillows and her arms was above her head.
“Jason.” she whispered in her sleep turning her head up toward the ceiling.
Walking over to her bed I sat beside her and mover her hair from her face, her skin was hot to the touch and I could feel the desire rolling off of her, I have to get away from her, I thought as I began to stand.
“Don't leave me, please, I don't know what I would do without you.” she whispered, “I need you in my life. I don't care what or who you are I need you.”
As I turned to walk away from the bed she grabbed my arm and I looked at her and she was still sleeping, “please stay.”
I slid underneath the blanket beside her as she put her arm over my chest and snuggled up close to me. Putting my arms around her I laid my head back against the headboard and drifted off to sleep.
Chapter 2
I woke up the next morning to find Jason laying in bed next to me asleep, I couldn't help but to look at him, he was sexy even to be sleep.
“Jason, wake up.” I whispered shaking him.
“Good morning Natalyana.” he said brushing my hair out of my face.
“We have to leave.”
“Yes you're right we do need to leave.”
“Quick question first, why are you in bed with me.”
“i sat by you last night while you slept and when I went to go to my bed you grabbed my arm and told me not to leave you didn't know what you would do without me and that you didn't care what or who I was and that you needed me.”
“Oh I'm sorry, you must not believe anything I say in my sleep.”
“I didn't mind.”
“Okay.”
Standing up from the bed I walked to the counter and poured myself a drink, I could feel his eyes on me even as he slid out of the bed and slipped on his shoes. I turned and leaned against the counter, looking at Jason, I can't believe I said that to him, I thought as I finished my drink throwing the cup away. Walking over to the bed I got into my suitcase and pulled out a pair of black sweat pants pulling them over my shorts as I put my book into my backpack. Putting my suitcase and backpacks on the bed I sat beside them slipping on my socks and shoes.
“Are you ready?” Jason asked breaking the silence that had overshadowed us.
“Yes.” I said grabbing my stuff and heading toward the door.
Jason grabbed the bags of food and drinks then opened the door leading me out into the bright morning sunlight and to the car as he popped the trunk. I looked at Jason as he tossed me the keys, but I tossed them back to him.
“You drive.” I said with a smile as I opened the passenger door and climbed in shutting the door behind me.
Climbing into the front seat he put the key in the ignition and started the car, pulling out of the parking lot. Turning on the radio I blasted my speakers as a good song came on and looked out the window at the passing trees and dirt roads as we headed south. I opened the window and let in the summer heat and grabbed a soda from the backseat. Leaning my head back against the seat I took a sip of the drink and put the lid back on the bottle.
“Natalyana, what are you thinking about.?”
“You have my blood in your veins you tell me.”
We were quiet for a long while as we crossed over a state line into Georgia and into a little town called Spartan. I can't believe he hasn't figured out what I'm thinking yet, I thought as I looked at him from the corner of my eye.
“Your thinking about what happened last night, when I was kissing you and had you on the counter.” he said still looking straight ahead not looking away from the road.
“Actually yea, I am thinking about last night and how much farther I wanted it to go, but I know it must have been hard to stop even drinking from me must have been hard.”
“Oh you have no idea just how hard.” he said looking at me with a smile.
“Jason if it makes you uncomfortable being around me you don't have to stay we can always stop and you can leave if you like.”
“No I will not leave you to be by yourself, we've come to far now to split up. I will not just leave you alone and abandon you I said I was going with you and I'll be with you until I say otherwise.”
I smiled at his response and climbed into the backseat to lay down looking at the ceiling. Knowing he felt that way made me happy in a way, I knew now that he was not going to leave me to be alone and would be there for me when I needed him. Jason continued to drive and my eyes grew heavy from laying in the backseat as I opened my drink and took another sip. I felt the car pull off onto an exit, slow to a stop, and I watched as Jason got out. Sitting up I looked out the window to see us sitting outside a motel as he leaned though the window.
“I'm going to go in and get us a room, is that alright?”
“Yes.”
I watched him walk away from the car and disappear into the main building.
“Good afternoon.” I said as I walked into the building to the older gentleman at the front desk who seemed as though he was not interested in my business.
The old man looked up from his book and huffed taking his smoking pipe out of his mouth, “What dah'ya want boy?”
“I would like a room with two beds please.” I said as the smoke from the old man's pipe drifted toward me making my throat close up.
“All I's gots is a room wit' one bed and that'll be about seventy dollars dependin' how long ya stayin.” he said using his stubby fingers to press keys on the computer's keyboard.
“That's fine, and we will only be here for about a week.”
“That'll be two hundred,” the old man had a sly smile looking at me like he was happy to be doing business, “come on now boy ain't gots all day.”
Taking the money out of my wallet I handed it to him and smiled trying to hide my surprise as he tried to slip into my mind, “I wouldn't recommend that old man.”
“Recommend what boy?”
“Trying to get inside my head, I don't know who you are but you ain't getting in.”
“Ah but Jason gettin to that pretty little thing out der in da car didn't take to long, you may be Vampire but you won't find her.”
I lunged toward the old man, grabbing his throat and threw him against the wall, as my fangs bit into my lower lip from anger, “Where is she damn it?”
“Ya never find her she long gone by now, soon as ya walk in here, they grab her.”
“Who grabbed her?”
“My men grab her and take her away, far away from you.” he was laughing now and pissing me off more punching the wall beside his head gave him a fright, I wanted to rip the old man's throat out right then but I needed him to tell me where his men had taken her.
“Where did you have them take her?”
“Ya might as well kill me now boy 'cause I ain't tellin ya.”
I ripped out his throat without a second thought and drank from him, the old man's blood was tainted with wolf but couldn't see anything that would give me any hints that would lead me to Natalyana. Running out the door I jumped into the car and sped out of the parking lot trying to see into Natalyana's thoughts.
I woke up to find myself in a dark room with the smell of chloroform still in my nose, I could feel someone poking around in my head but I didn't know who. Where was Jason, why wasn't he here with me, what happened and how did I get here, I thought sitting up. The last thing I remembered was seeing Jason disappear into the main building of the motel and two guys in black tying me up and putting a rag of chloroform over my nose and mouth as they forced me to keep from screaming.
“Is anyone there?” I asked still groggy.
“Hold ya tongue child ya don't want to anger tha Masta.” an old female voice said from the other side of the room.
“Master?”
“Yes tha Masta, he has chosen you to be his mate.”
“WHAT!?” I jumped up from the floor and onto my feet.
“Hold ya tongue, ya will wed tha Masta and make 'im happy.”
“I will not, your Masta kidnapped me.”
The old woman growled at my response and I could sense the tension not in the dark room. The striking of a match caught my attention as the light of a lantern grew bright and I could see the old woman's withered face. She must have been here for years, I thought as I paced around the now lit room.
Jason where are you, please help me, I cried out in my head because I knew he could hear me.
Natalyana where are you, the sound of his voice brought tears to my eyes.
I don't know but there is a woman here and she said that the Masta wants me to be his mate.
What?, I could hear the anger in his thoughts as though he was speaking to me directly.
I said the same thing, I don't want to be here, I thought.
“Ma'am where exactly am I?” I asked the old woman who remained in the corner.
“Why child ya in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where else would ya be.”
I'm in Baton Rouge but I don't really know where I'm in a dark room kind of like a basement or a dungeon, I thought to Jason.
I know exactly where you are, those bastards. They are wolves and I can see why their leader Malcolm chose you to be his mate, but I highly doubt he knows that your a Witch.
Yea but why me?
Why not your beautiful, smart, sexy, and one hell of a kisser, his explanation made me smile making me wish I was with him.
You really think I'm beautiful, I thought sitting down against the wall with my head down so that the woman could not see my face.
A knocking on the door brought me from my telepathic conversation, and I watched the old woman stand as the door opened. Bright lights filled the room and the men who kidnapped me walked in, Jason remained silent as I stood.
“Where is she?” one of them asked and the old woman pointed my way, and my heart sped up as the men stepped closed to me.
“Leave me alone you mangy mutts.” I said moving away from them.
“Tha Masta wants to see 'is new bride to be.”
Jason please hurry, I thought as they took me by my arms and led me out of the room into an elegantly decorated hallway. I'm on my way, his thoughts entered my head but I refused to show any sign of fear as the men took me into a large room where I saw they're leader. He stood to be about 6'2”, brown hair, hazel eyes but very good looking, and all he did was look down at me and smile for a minute.
“What is your name?” he asked gesturing me to sit.
“Natalyana and I'll stand thanks.”
“You'll learn to listen to tha Masta.” his henchmen said pushing me into the seat.
“So,” I said ignoring the man, “why exactly did you have them bring me here?”
“Actually I didn't have them do anything, you see when you and the Vampire arrived at that little motel, the keeper was one of my men I had him do the job and he hired these too idiots.”
“For one the vampire's name is Jason and for two you had no reason to kidnap me.”
“Oh yes, Jason, I know the little fuck, bastard killed my brother and my man at the motel, he doesn't know where to find you and but even if he did how would you be able to contact his with you being here and him being where ever the hell he is.”
“Uh duh telepathically, if you had done more research about me you'd know that I'm a Witch. Jason has fed from me I can hear his thoughts and he can hear mine, therefore he knows exactly where I am.”
“Good now I can have the pleasure of killing him myself.”
“I won't let you do that.”
“And why not my Queen?”
“Don't call me that I am not your Queen, but I cannot let you kill him.”
“Is that because you love him?”
“N...no I don't love him, I only met him the other day he's been with me since I was banished from home. Yes, he does mean a lot to me but I wish for you not to kill him.”
There was nothing I could do at the moment to save here from those mongrels, I needed to feed and rest for the night. I gripped the steering wheel until my knuckles were white, and I waited for her voice to fill my head, but all that remained was silence. Pulling the car into another motel parking lot in Savannah I parked the car and walked to the main building. Walking through the door I could smell the scent of Vampires, and I looked at the young man behind the counter, definitely a good place to be for the night, I thought as I walked up to the counter.
“Good evening.” the young man said punching keys on the computer.
“Derrick Hughes.” I said, “Long time no see my friend.”
Derrick looked up and smiled then frowned, “Well if it isn't my good old friend Jason Fitzgerald, how old are you now 356 or 456 I can't seem to remember, damn you look like shit.”
“Yea I bet I do, and I'm only 256, my friend Natalyana was kidnapped and I'm on my way to Baton Rouge to get her, but I need to rest and feed. So I need a room.”
“Well of course, twenty dollars and you can have whatever you want, you are my oldest friend.”
I pulled out a twenty from my wallet and handed it to him as he handed me the key to a room, “thanks man.”
“No problem, so is she pretty.”
“You remember Alexandria?”
“Matter of fact I do.”
“Looks just like her, beautiful beyond belief, her descendant and she's a Witch.”
“Damn has Alexandria come through to you yet?”
“Yes, the other night.”
“How did that work out?”
“I helped Natalyana get her out after a few minutes of talking to Alexandria.”
Walking out of the building Derrick showed me to my room and unlocked the door letting me in, “I've got a case of synthetic blood in the back I'll bring you a couple bags while you get settled.”
“Thanks bro.” I said as he left the room, leaving me alone.
Running my fingers through my hair in frustration I sat down on the bed and kicked off my shoes and laid back looking up at the ceiling.
Natalyana are you there, I thought to her wondering why she hadn't said anything for a while.
I'm here Jason, her voice filled my head making my thoughts jumble.
What have they done what did they say?
Malcolm wants to marry me regardless and he want's to kill you himself.
Hmm I wonder why.
Why did you kill his brother?
Is that what he told you, his brother Marcus's death was an accident. About a century ago Marcus and I were the best of friends and Malcolm was jealous of our friendship. Sometime later Malcolm deceived his brother and blamed it on me causing Marcus and me to get into a fight, little did I know the fight was staged to be fight to the death, god knows I didn't want to fight my best friend but I had no choice their father said it was a fight to the death regardless, I sighed and closed my eyes, Marcus and I fought but I reigned victorious in the end.
I'm sorry, she whispered trying to sooth my thoughts, but he wants to kill you I told him I was a Witch and that I wouldn't let him kill you and I tried to change his mind about me being his mate but he would not listen, the bastard didn't even flinch when I told him what I was.
Well there's nothing we can do until I get there, I'm in Savannah at a motel luckily I have a friend here so I get the room cheap and get some synthetic blood free, but I'll be on the road first thing in the morning I just don't know how long it will actually be before I get to you.
Alright well I'm tired I need to rest my chi is not acting right.
Alright same here I will get to you as soon as possible. Good night.
Good night. Silence filled my mind as Derrick entered the room making me jump off the bed.
“It's just me calm down here.” he said tossing me a bag of blood and walked over to the mini-fridge to put the supply inside.
“Thanks.” I said ripping the top off and taking a huge swig.
“What were you doing?” he asked as he walked back to the door.
“Nothing just thinking.”
“Looked more like you were just having a telepathic conversation to me.”
“Of course your right, I was talking to Natalyana. Malcolm wants to marry her which is why he hired men to kidnap her and he wants to kill me for killing Marcus.”
“What? Marcus is dead because of something Malcolm did not you, everyone in the town knew that you would never deceive your friends, Malcolm was jealous and hated you being his older brother's best friend. It is because of Malcolm's deception that his brother is dead. My friend,” Derrick said as he sat on the bed beside me, “if you wish for help getting her back I will gladly help you.”
“I thank you but I must to this on my own, it's me Malcolm wants I do not want you getting involved.”
“Alright if that is your wish, I will obey, my King.”
I looked at him, his expression changed to sadness as he looked at me letting me know something was wrong, “What is it Derrick?”
“Your father has just passed and since there were no other children than yourself and are rightful heir to the thrown you are King.”
“I haven't been home in over a century, mother may not remember me.”
“She would never forget the face of her own flesh and blood.”
“I guess your right, I need to rest I have a long drive ahead of me in the morning.”
“Okay good night my friend.”
“Good night.”
As Derrick left the room I laid back on the bed and stared at the ceiling again I could see Natalyana in the back of my mind, her long black hair falling around her face as her ice colored blue eyes glittered in the moonlight and her luscious lips smiling at him. My dick grew hard as I thought about her and I didn't know how much longer I could go with out actually seeing that beautiful smile or hers, kissing her soft delicate lips, hearing her velvet voice, watching her walk and listening to her whisper and whimper as she slept.
“Damn it,” I said to myself pulling myself up off the bed and walking into the bathroom, “stop thinking about her it only makes it worse.”
Throwing water onto my face I looked at the shower, in the morning, I thought to myself, walking into the bedroom and taking off my shirt and pants, folding them on the counter and placing my socks on top of them. Walking naked over to the bed I slid under the blankets and grabbed my bag of synthetic blood taking a gulp as I turned on the T.V. I laid there, watching the Syfy channel and drinking my blood but still wasn't able to get Natalyana out of my head. Turning off the T.V I set the remote on the bedside table and tossed my now empty blood bag into the trashcan and turned off the lights. Laying my head on the pillow I closed my eyes and slowly drifted to sleep knowing I would dream of Natalyana.
I jerked awake at the sound of knocking on the door and looked around the elegant room Malcolm had put me in.
“Who is it?”
The door opened and the old woman I had seen the night before entered, “Tha Masta wish ta see ya fa breakfast.”
“Thank you tell him I will be down shortly.” I said standing from the bed.
The woman walked to the armoire and pulled out a beautiful black and red filigree dress which I simply fell in love with, “Tha Masta wish ya ta wear dis fa breakfast.”
“Oh don't worry I will.” I said a she walked over to the bed and put the dress on it then left the room.
What a weird old woman, I thought as I stripped of my clothes and slid on the dress. Surprisingly the dress fit perfectly but all I could think about was Jason, his gorgeous blue green eyes, his soft short black hair, the soft gentle touch of his hands, and the way his lips felt on mine and my skin. I shook my head to get his face out of my mind I had to stop thinking about him but I knew it would be hard especially since he was on his way to save me from my captors, as thought I was a damsel in distress which I just happened to be.
Jason where are you? I thought trying to reach him through the bond that we shared as I walked into the adjoining bathroom and looked into the mirror.
Putting the stopper in the sink drain I filled it up and used it as a scrying magic mirror, focusing on Jason I recited: with this water I wish to see the one who enters my mind, the one I think about who thinks of me, so mote it be three times three. I watched as the water began to ripple and Jason came into view, he was in the car sipping on a bag of synthetic blood and driving fast, trying to get to me as soon as possible.
Jason where are you? I asked again waiting to see if he would answer me this time.
I'm on my way I just passed over the Alabama state line, he said but I could here the sadness in his thoughts, I will be there either later tonight or tomorrow.
Jason what's wrong?
I found out that my father passed away last night.
Was he important to you?
He was the King of the Vampires, but know that he is gone my mother cannot reign she is far to old and cannot run the country by herself.
So you have to go home after you help me get out of this place?
Yes and your coming with me.
You want me to come with you?
Yes I want you to come with me I don't know what I would do if I never... he paused as though he didn't want to actually say what he wanted to.
Never saw me again?
Yes I wouldn't know what to do if I never saw you again to never see you hold you or kiss you, I need you in my life I don't know why but I do.
Still looking into the mirror I could see the anguish in his eyes at the thought of never seeing me again and it broke my heart, I will go with you.
You will?
Yes, but now I have to go to breakfast Malcolm is awaiting my arrival and I don't want to make him angry Goddess knows what would happen.
Alright, I will be there soon.
I hope so.
Pulling the stopper out of the sink I let the water drain and I watched Jason's face disappear, and walked out of the bathroom. Walking to the bedroom door I took a deep breath and walked out the door closing it gently behind me. Walking down the long spiral staircase I walked into the dining room and saw Malcolm at the mantle of the fireplace. He was dressed in black, which suited him going, great with his black heart.
“Good morning,” he said turning to look at me, “how did you sleep.”
“I slept well but I would have slept better if I wasn't here.”
“You will get used to it.” he said as the old woman walked through the door.
“Breakfast b done soon, do ya need any ting Masta?” she asked her old voice cold with hatred, I gathered she didn't like it here either.
“No I don't need anything, Gretchen. Natalyana do you need anything?”
“No.”
“Very well, I will bring ya breakfast shortly.” Gretchen said shaking her head letting her strands of her salt and pepper hair to come out of the bun at the top of her head and left the room.
Malcolm walked toward me and pulled out the seat in front of me gesturing me to sit down. I took him up on the offer this time only because I knew Jason would be there for me soon, “do you like the dress?”
“I love it.”
“Well I'll make you a deal, if Jason does come for you within the next few days and defeats me in battle, then you may keep it. But if he does not defeat me you will marry me and wear the dress as you wedding gown.”
I don't know if I should take him up on this deal, I mean yea I love the dress but what if Jason doesn't beat Malcolm I will be forced to marry the man that I do not love, I thought as I drummed my fingers on the table, wait am I falling for Jason? Does he really mean that much to me, I mean he is coming to save me after all.
Are you falling for me? Jason's voice entered my mind the second I stopped thinking making me jump nearly out of my chair.
“What is it, Natalyana?”
“It's nothing I thought I saw a spider.”
“Very well.”
I don't know if I am or not, I mean even though I've only known you for a few days and yet I grow fonder of you every second I'm with you and you had better get here soon and beat this mother fuckers ass one so I can be with you again and two so I can keep this beautiful dress. But if you lose I have to marry him.
Oh please do not worry I will not lose to him.
Good I don't know what I would do if you did.
Gretchen entered the room with breakfast and amazingly it smelled good, eggs sunny side up, crispy bacon, oatmeal, toast, coffee and orange juice. Placing the food on the table she turned toward me giving me a look of helplessness and despair, I took it as though she wanted to get out of here just as bad as I did. Gretchen looked at Malcolm and bowed her head regretfully, and as he nodded to her she slowly backed out of the room.
“Please dig in ladies first.”
“Oh, is that so? Why be so polite now when you kidnapped me just yesterday? Or is it because you know that Jason will beat your ass when he gets here, which will be soon. Maybe it's the fact that other than Gretchen I am the only other female in this hell?”
“For one,” he said standing and walking over to the end of the table toward me, “I am always polite to women. For two, Jason will not beat me for it is I who will beat him. And three Gretchen is a solid member of this household but you by far are the prettiest.”
“I could always give Gretchen her youth back.”
“You may if you wish but doesn't she have to be a willing participant?” he asked leaning on the table whispering into my ear.
“Yea she has to be a willing participant, but by restoring her youth she will be able to do the things that she can't do anymore.”
“Very well do as you wish.”
He walked back to the other end of the table as I began to eat, dipping my bacon into my egg yolk, but I could tell there was something wrong with the food. Centering my chi into my eyes I looked at the food looking for poison, then I saw it a light shade of purple, arsenic, but it was only on one plate, Malcolm's. I continued eating even though I knew what Gretchen was trying to do, she wanted out of this place so badly she was going to risk her life trying to kill him, I don't blame her, I thought as I bit into a piece of toast. I watched as Malcolm stirred his poisoned oatmeal and began to eat it and I began to recite: I watch the man who eats his food poison as it is, let it react quickly killing him fast, never knowing what happened just let him die quickly, so mote it be three times three.
I watched as he began to choke on his oatmeal but I did nothing to help him I just sat there watching and continued to eat. He fell into the floor and writhed clawing at his throat, then just as suddenly as it started it stopped, no more pain, no more suffering, but peace. I stood and slowly made my way to him and checked his pulse, there wasn't one and I laughed falling on my butt beside him. She did it, she killed him oh thank you Gretchen, I thought standing and running to the door. I ran to find Gretchen, happy for what she had done but I needed to tell Jason.
Jason are you there? I thought to him though I knew he was still on the road.
Yes I'm here.
She killed him. Gretchen killed Malcolm.
Who's Gretchen?
The old woman who told me where I was, she killed him.
How?
She put arsenic in his oatmeal.
Wow, tell her I said thank you.
Oh don't worry I will when I find her.
You mean to tell me you don't know where she is?
No I don't know where she is, she brought in breakfast and then left I haven't a clue. But when she left the room she gave me a look of helplessness and despair but when I saw that his oatmeal was poisoned I recited a spell that made it take effect faster and it worked he's dead, I checked and made sure.
Thank god, but you need to find her.
Oh I plan on it.
Walking down the stairs into the dungeon I saw her, in her little corner just sitting there rocking back and forth, I found her.
Good.
“Gretchen, you did it.”
“Is he dead?”
“Yes, he is but while he ate his oatmeal I recited a spell to quicken the process.”
“Thank the Great Goddess, the bastard is finally dead. He had done da same ting he done to ya, he kidnap me when I's about ya age and I's been here ever since. I been wantin' ta get away from here fa years but I's neva could, until he's gots ya.
“I understand and I would like to do something for you.”
“What?”
“I would like to give you back your youth.”
“My youth, but child I's eighty seven years old, I's don't want my youth back.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes child, ya doesn't need ta give me anything back, ya is free now to be wit ya Vampire. Though I could neva be wit mine.”
“You were in love with a Vampire?”
“Yes, child I was, matta a fact it was ya Vampire's father, but 'im was already wed. Afta Malcolm kidnapped me I thought I'd neva see 'im again so I's forgot about 'im.”
“Gretchen, Jason's father passed away last night.”
“I see,” she said shaking her head then lowering it showing her respects by being silent, then she looked up again, “Jason is King now ain't he.”
“Yes, when he returns home to be with his mother.”
“I see, well then good fa 'im, I's bet ya can't wait ta see 'im.”
“You got that right.” I said taking her hand, “Come with us.”
“Oh child I's can't this is my house now, I's ain't gonna abandon it.”
“As you wish, I should get going now.”
“Yes child.”
“I will come visit you I promise.”
“Thank you child.”
I turned and walked up the stairs and through the halls and into the dining room, still Malcolm laid sprawled out in the floor as I passed him making my way to the living room. I sat on a leather couch by the front door as I heard gravel crunching outside, I looked out the window and sighed in relief.
I shut off the car once I got up to the mansion where Natalyana had been taken and stepped out, as she walked outside. She wore a beautiful black and red filigree dress that flowed behind her as she ran toward me, and she looked absolutely amazing. She jumped into my arms and I hugged her tightly, kissing her sweet lips, as her arms wrapped around my neck. Pulling away from her I led her to the car and helped her in, as she looked back at the house.
“What is it Natalyana?”
“It's just that Gretchen was kidnapped when she was my age and she was in love with your father but he was married to your mother and she knew she would never see him again, I feel so sorry for her. She was never able to be with the one she wanted to be with and she had to spend her life miserable and alone being the house keeper for that son of a bitch, may the Goddess find him a place beside her.
“But she accepted her fate of being alone and lived with herself, knowing she would never know what happened to her love and that I was the one to let her know that he had passed,” tears streamed down her face now and I put my hand on hers, “I even offered for her to come with us and to give her back her youth but she refused. She told me that the house was her's now and that she wasn't going to abandon her home.”
“Natalyana she will be fine on her own, but she saved you, she killed Malcolm because she didn't want you to end up the way she did. She wanted you to be with the one you love or might love and for you to continue to grow and be happy.”
“I know but I just wish she could have been happy.”
I started the car and backed out of the driveway leaving the mansion behind letting it grow smaller and smaller in the distance, “Natalyana everything happens for a reason and we all have to accept that, Gretchen chose to stay because she'd been there for so long it was her home and I doubt I would have left either. There is no need to worry about her, I have a feeling she will be perfectly fine.”
“I guess your right.” she said looking down at her dress straightening it at her knees.
She laid her seat back and I wondered what she was thinking about but I didn't want to pry into her thoughts so I stayed focused on the road, “Where are we going?”
“To my friends motel, I can get us a room for the night cheap.”
“That sounds good.”
The howling of wolves made her jump in her seat and she brought it upright. Looking in the rear view mirror I could see them close behind us. Natalyana let out a whimper beside me and I sped the car up trying to get away from them. A thud on the roof of the car made her scream as a giant fur covered paw broke through the roof and dug its claws into Natalyana's shoulder, making her scream in pain. I stomped on the brake sending the wolf flying in front of the car and onto the road. The smell of her blood drove me nearly insane as I tried to hold her wound shut watching her blood slip through my fingers turning the red on the dress darker.
“I...I'm not gonna make it, I'm losing to much blood. I can't h...heal myself in this state.”
“Natalyana your going to be fine, I promise.” I said as her eyes rolled into the back of her head I shook her making her come back to me, “Your going to be fine.”
“Just go l...leave me here, I'm ready to die.”
“I will not leave you, your going to be fine.”
“I SAID GO!” she screamed as tears fell from her eyes and she placed a hand on my face, “Please just go.”
“Natalyana, I can't leave you here.”
Howling erupted around the car, we were surrounded, as a large black and gray wolf came forward changing shape, “M...Malcolm.” Natalyana whispered, she looked at me with fear in her eyes, “He was dead I know he was, unless, Gretchen b...brought him back after we left.”
“It's okay, Jason.” she said as Malcolm came to her side of the car and and jerking her out of the car laying her down in the road.
I jumped out of the car to go to her but was stopped by a golden colored wolf, “get outta my way you filthy mutt.” I said punching it in the nose making it whimper and back away slowly.
I went to Natalyana and knelt by her side, “you see what you have done to her.” I said.
“Ah but Jason, her blood is on your hands.”
I looked at her as she started having convulsions, I never she was near death but I wasn't about to let her leave me, biting my wrist I put it to her mouth letting her drink from me knowing what the repercussions would be.
Stay with me Natalyana, I whispered into her mind, I can't let you leave me, I wouldn't survive without you, please stay with me.
I felt her hands grab my arm and her lips press against my skin, “You were supposed to be dead, Malcolm.” I said looking up at him.
“And what is dead, is the undead such as yourself really dead? By drinking the life force of others to sustain your damned life, and now you turn one so close to death to be as you are, neither alive nor dead.”
“Yes, leave this place.” I said with a growl, looking back down a Natalyana.
She pushed my arm away and I helped her sit up letting her lean against me for support, as I watched the holes in her shoulder slowly begin to close as my blood started taking effect on and inside her body.
“I will not leave this place without my bride to be.”
“I will never be your bride,” Natalyana said looking at him with anger in her ice blue eyes, “I am bound to Jason as of now, he had no choice but to give me his blood for he didn't want me to die. I did not want to leave him and I'm glad he gave me his blood I cannot live without him as he could not live without me. Be gone from this place and let us be.”
Malcolm let out a howl in anger as he began to change, I could hear the bones in his body brake and realign and I watched as black and gray fur erupted from his skin. I looked back at Natalyana as she smiled and started to stand taking my hand to help her. I stood bringing her up with me and led her to the car as Malcolm and his pack ran off still howling in anger.
“I'll get the roof fixed for you when we get to my home.”
“It's okay, Jason, you don't have to worry about it.”
Helping her into her blood soaked seat I closed the door and got in on the other side starting the engine we sped off down the road making our way to Derrick's motel. Natalyana remained quiet but I could see all the thoughts running through her mind, her lips on mine with her fingers running through my hair as she ground her hips into mine.
“Natalyana please stop.” I said trying to repress the urge to stop the car and take her then and there.
“Oh, I'm sorry were my thoughts to arousing for you?”
“Yes especially since I can see everything your thinking.”
“So how much longer til we get to Derrick's motel?”
“The motel is in Savannah, Georgia. So just a few hours, I won't have to check us in he's saving the room for us when we get there so you can get in the shower and get that blood off of you.”
I looked down at my shoulder and saw the blood that I had forgotten was there, “Oh this.”
“You forgot it was there?”
“Yea I did, can we just hurry up and get to the motel?”
“I'm driving as fast as I can, but it's still going to take a while why don't you just lay the seat back and rest for a while.” he said taking my hand kissing it.
I laid my seat back and looked at the ceiling even though I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep especially in this dress. I looked at Jason who had his eyes on the road and I smiled, he couldn't help but to turn me, I thought, he didn't want me to die and leave him. Even though just a few days ago he said that it wasn't time, what made him change his mind so suddenly, I wondered as I looked out the window.
As we rode along the deserted stretch of blacktop I watched the trees go by as if in slow motion, their limbs hanging over the road, moving only slightly with the breeze. As we passed over the Alabama state line I straightened my seat and opened to window to let in the cool air as the sun began to set.
I took a deep calming breath as my hands began to tremble, my mouth grew dry and my stomach did a flip. Images of Jason buried deep inside me ran through my mind as the car jerked and he let out a growl.
“I'm sorry.” I whispered, straightening my dress.
“It's okay, it just surprised me that's all.”
A buzz went off startling me making me hiss as Jason reached into his pocket pulling out his phone, “Hello?” he said answering it, “Oh hey Derrick... yea I've got her... not I will not take a picture of her... yea we're on our way just got into Alabama... alright talk to you soon... bye.” and with that he hung up and looked at me with a smile.
“Why does he want a picture of me?”
“He wants to see if you really look like Alexandria.”
“Oh that's what I thought.” I whispered looking at the hiss and houses that passed by.
“What's wrong Natalyana?”
“It's nothing I just want to get to the motel, get in the shower, go to sleep and forget this day ever happened.”
Passing into Montgomery we stopped at a gas station for gas and something to drink. I stayed in the car since I was still covered in blood as Jason went in to get drinks and gas. No-one seemed to be around as he came back out walked to the car and started pumping the gas. Popping the trunk I stepped out of the car and walked to the trunk, grabbing my purse, closing the door I got back into the car and buckled my seat belt. Digging into my purse I pulled out a pack of camel crush cigarettes and my lighter, taking a cigarette out of the pack I crushed the filter, put it to my lips and lit it, blowing smoke out my nose as Jason got back into the car with the drinks.
“I didn't know you smoked.”
“I quit some time ago but I said hey why not it's been six months.” I said taking a drag closing my eyes as I savored the flavor of it before exhaling.
“Oh well okay.”
“It calms my nerves.”
“Okay I see now.” he said starting the car and pulling out onto the road.
“Yea.”
We stayed silent as I continued to smoke my cigarette and Jason turned on the radio, turning it onto a rock station. I recognized the song but stayed quiet gazing out the window watching the trees pass by.
