Dejected and Detained by Dark Depression,
Stayed silent, yet invoked Thee,
Ethereal in form, Abridged in Snow and Ice,
One night I strolled with Winter on the Street,
She came as affable Lover and Pet,
She Froze over my Soul, Numbed my Body,
Kissing my cheeks with such Chilly Bites.
She asked why I felt Frustrated,
Why feel so Alienated?
When Her Beneficence ran so deep?
Just slip into Her Sleet covered Sleep.
Why must Humans choose to Hurt?
When we forget Vernal joy--find Warmth in Her Caress?
Now Frozen, Soon Free from Them,
As Her Breath pervaded me, I felt less.
From Sorest Archives, She revealed:
Life gives us Love and Loneliness, Finality in Death,
Wind sighed as She Whispered: Your Seraphs must Duel with your Demons,
Hope must coexist with Despair, as my Frost now effuses with your Breath.
Sleep, my child, Forget thee and Let me keep thee Forever.
(This was supposed to match the beat of "Bless the Child" by Nightwish in the first, second, third, fifth, and eighth stanzas. Truthfully, I preferred the first poem, but this fit the criteria for English more. What do you think?)
When detached by dark depression,
I stroll with Lady Winter along the street,
The Ethereal One bolsters me,
Either as an affable Lover or Pet.
The Lover bites my cheeks with Chill Kisses,
Caresses my limbs and Whispers nothings in murmurs,
Ever heedful of my Sorrows,
With sorest resolve, I reject Her Frosty Slumber.
The Pet nips my heels and nose, howling wistfully,
Ever tacit as She tugs my Sleeve and Hair,
Scampering after Leaves skittering across streets,
Asking me to join Her Games, no worry or care.
O Woe! as Her Sibling seizes the sky and soil,
Always preoccupied with Vernal labor,
Tending to Plants and Beasts She had forsoke for me,
As I, without Lover or Pet, stay sore.
(I'm doing this for English tomorrow and I want to hear your comments!)
