Lately a quietness has swept over me. There is a desire to disengage and to sneak away to some hush hush place. There is an oddity, a curiosity that I need to explore and it isn't here or there.

I am well...

Out of sorts.

So I sneak around here in the shadows from time to time. I rather love spying through journals and hearing of other's tales. There are some fascinating and gifted (not to mention twisted and absurd) people here that I call friends.

Last night though I side stepping my normal stalking subjects, and I found myself reading Seven's old journal entries aloud and I attempted to prod her back to the VR realm, if for no other reason than to write witty things I can laugh and shake my head at. They are trips down memory lane, and quite frankly better crafted than anything I share on here.

I read about the time where when Seven came home I declare "I'm drunk" and the response back was "Your shorts are on backwards" or "Are you trying to poison me with peach wine cooler marinated chicken?' I loved reading Seven's thoughts about what Seven does when I’m m.i.a.

Also some of our dog's biggest moments in her puppy life are littered in her journal "Maddy's Big Day Out" "Dividing up the Fishies" where the pup accidentally bites Seven toe when food landed on it.

There are memories that I had forgotten that came rushing up with every letter consumed via reading.

There's a great cartoon of two old lady's bickering over a lost cert candy that is titled Elemental and Vampire Witch that had me rolling over laughing.

There's the random comments from students. The excuses and the crazy papers where a student believes Marx wrote a gospel guided by the hand of good. I love the debunking of "Ironic" by Alanis and the rant from No, It’s Not about how “anything is not in fact, not possible”.

And some thoughts about VR Psychics typos, and the Decline and Fall of various VR members.

I am having fun journeying backwards and sharing bits and pieces with Sevenn. I wish I could get 7 back on here for completely selfish reason of being able to have more journals and insight into the Seven's mind.

I should mention I'm pretty high on pain medicine right now so this is all probably discombobulated.

I miss Sevenn on VR, big time. Beyond all this cool stuff- I miss having that person around who understands what I am saying and doesn't infer their own agenda upon it. And someone who gets my humor which I falsely assumed was pretty general. But- I still have a few left here, like you, Meeps :)

Seven doesn't know this, but this is what she is making me for dinner. Truth be told it will be a joint venture, but hey I cooked yesterday so it's not technically my turn.

BBQ Chicken and Blue Cheese Pizza

Ingredients

1 (8-ounce) prebaked thin pizza crust (such as Mama Mary's)

1/3 cup barbecue sauce

1 1/2 cups shredded skinless, boneless rotisserie chicken breast

1/2 cup vertically sliced red onion

1/2 cup coarsely chopped yellow bell pepper

1/2 cup (2 ounces) crumbled blue cheese

2 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced (about 1/4 pound)

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 500°.

2. Place pizza crust on a baking sheet. Spread sauce over the crust, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Top with chicken and remaining ingredients. Bake 10 minutes or until cheese melts and crust is crisp. Cut into 12 wedges.

The last month or two I have been dealing with a situation that has turned my stomach, alienated, and silenced me. It wasn’t a massively egregious situation, but it was one of the most trying things in my life to date.

My new project team included someone who felt it was appropriate to regularly use terms like “gay” “retard” and at any juncture where an attractive female walked by there was always a comment. Now perhaps this is merely a status quo that while not legal protected may very well be the norm. But it should be.

In other jobs where my role was more in management, it was easy to discipline and the offenders would take a “knock it off” comment more seriously. But in this situation, no words or warning put an end to a mouth that was constantly objectifying and demeaning.

I told our supervisor, she in turn reiterated company policy on the matter.

Yet still it persisted.

My boss was on vacation for a few weeks and the next level up in the chain had been doing individual follow up. I raised the unprofessional conduct yet again to her.

Still nothing.

I was always cordial and professional throughout my interactions with him since we did in fact work together daily.

About a week later I was eating a bagel in the break room and he was flipping through a weekly arts and entertainment ad, there was an advertisement of a woman standing up, legs spread, and bent over so it basically was a panty crotch shot.

He asked me what I thought about that and clearly indicated at the picture.

There was rage under my tone as I stated “Not cool” and he continued to go through the pages without a second thought.

I took that weekly print to my manager’s supervisor and stated everything that happened and asked how many times do I need to report this? She knew it was definitely out of bounds and I imagine no guy would have the balls to do that to her in the workplace.

Later that day she pulled him aside. I found out later that he did in fact get a written warning. While he is still there, he isn’t saying troublesome comments anymore. It will without a doubt impede his promotional opportunities. As small as that is it does make me feel a bit more comfortable with my company.

You did the right thing, even though you had to keep at it and persevere. If no one speaks up things like this will only escalate. It's utter BS.

What is truly not cool is the lack of respect this person had for professional conduct. Good for you for maintaining it.

I recently got the address of a good friend of mine who is currently deployed in Iraq. My first reaction is to go to the store and get supplies for a care package- gum, pringles, chips ohoy cookies, nutter butters, gummie worms, trail mix, Koolaide, and grasshopper fudge mint cookies. We will throw in a couple books and maybe one or two other things that I know he might appreciate while living it up in the desert.

It should be a very welcomed box...but um... I have to go back to the store.

I ate the grasshopper cookies :(
