Prologue:

He stood there hands shaking in violent tremors, gun gripped tight in his hand, other hand clinched tight in a fist. Nails have sunk into his skin and started to draw blood. As the blood slowly drips from his knuckles to the cool pavement below a slight grin crosses his face as he looks down at his once best friend. “So Sythzer ever think it would come to this?”

Scooting back slowly, broken leg twisted and bones showing. One hand up pleading for Raxel’s cease to advance as his other props him up weakly. “Come on man you know it wasn’t supposed to happen like this, it was an acci..” Crack! The barrel of the gun whips across Sythzer’s jaw, the force causes him to fall onto the road gasping for air shallowly.

“What was that! You call this an apology?! Is that what you told Kuya after you raped and left her for dead on the street!” Now Raxel can hear the sirens in the back ground, but cops can save his soul or insanity anymore. He remembers how he found his love, his life, dead in a red light district of town. The mark on her that was branded on all of the victims in this area. How he had held her close and let her blood and tears soak into his week old clothes. How he had asked Sythzer if he knew anything and he believed him though he knew he was lying.

“Sur! Put the gun down now!” Raxel heard it all but was trapped in the dark world of his past, was stuck in a twilight of what he could have done but didn’t do. Was tearing himself apart slowly deep inside piece by piece. His heart ached and raced but now instead of blood only horrid freezing oil coursed through his veins. His breath was shallow and slow. His movements were controlled and precise.

“So Sythzer anything you have left to say?”

“Please man don’t do this, you know she wouldn’t want this bro, please don’t do this.”

“Don’t tell me what she would have wanted! You took her. No our future away from us. You fucked everyone you knew and stabbed all in the back! You are the reason for this city’s downfall.” Suddenly Raxel’s voice got cold and low. Sythzer had to lean in inches to hear him speak. “And now you have brought me from hell to burn you soul, and take you to the devil himself. You and me are going on a trip through fire and acid. You will feel pain that will not end and though I will be beside you the whole way, I will be laughing as I know I caused you to come to this.

The world froze then, cops started racing forward but to slow. Sythzer’s screams were deep and loud but drowned out by the chaos around. And Raxel was steady as the barrel of the gun pressed against Sythzer’s temple. Pressure started to mount on the trigger as his finger pulled back. And then…

What? You think your going to get to the end without knowing what went down? No this is my story and you will hear it in all its glory. And here we around in a world were people think teenagers have it easy. I’m seventeen lets go back to my sixteenth birthday.

Chapter 1:

Raxel woke up with a start, alarm going off but that just off set by the fighting that could be heard crashing through the living room. Another day in his life of shit, and love, that he lived for so much. Wiping the sweat from his eyes he jumps off the edge of his twin bed, already face to face with his door. He shakes his head marveled his six foot frame sill fit in a room meant for a two year old.

Opening the door he was greeted instantly to his dads hung over voice, “This isn’t the time ta star ah fight, to goo damn early!”

“Well maybe if you would down beer at seven in the morning we would have to deal with this shit!” Raxel hears a bottle shatter against a wall, their screams now blending in fury and chaos. Shaking his head he walks to the kitchen to fix a little something for breakfast.

His parents enter the kitchen just as he pulls out a bowl. Both looking at him silenced for a second, then in unison point to the door and yell, “get out!”

Putting his hands up in defeat Raxel turns and walks to the door, slamming it behind him and mumbling under her breath, “thanks for the birthday greeting ‘mom’ and ‘dad’. Love you too.” Putting his hand in his pockets he walks down the street to the only friend he has in these streets, Sythzer.

Coming up on a shack, no fence around the yard, if you could call dirt that. Raxel laughed as he sees the small iron gate Sythzer insists on keeping for protecting. Stepping up on the porch he can smell the normal scent of piss and vomit. The mat under his feet is wet and Raxel hopes its from the rain he knows they haven’t had. He gives the door three light but sharp taps, “Yo Sythzer! Wake up and open this door!”

Hearing movement from inside he steps back off the mat that was starting to soak into his shoes. Just as he was figuring out how to possibly get the smell off of him the door opens, “Well I’ll be damned, didn’t think id see you so soon, after last night mate, not with that party and the girl you were with.”

Stepping past Sythzer into his, for respect of Sythzer, home Raxel was instantly hit with the hard odor of alcohol, weed, and what seems to be sex by the hooker laying in the living room. “Oh come on Sythzer you know I wouldn’t stay long. Never had your mind set to run gun ho anywhere. Plus you know I’m faithful to my girl.” Raxel turned and smiled at his friend.

Sythzer came and patted Raxel on the back, rolling his ’girl’ from last night off the couch and pushing Raxel into the center. With a big grin he crouched between Raxel’s legs and reached into his pocket. “Got you a present today mate. Cant let you have a birthday with no gift now can I? Wouldn’t be very right of a lad at all.” With that he put his fist at Raxel’s chest, turned it around, and opened.

What sat on his palm was, what looked like, a cigarette that he had rolled earlier. Alone it didn’t smell of tobacco, and looked like it had been soaked in mud water. “Man you know I don’t do that, I don’t even smoke. Why would you put that in front of me?” He sits back looking at the ceiling.

“Come on man your moving in with me, and don’t you plan to join my crew?” Sythzer chuckles lightly, “going to have to do a lot worse.” He tilts his head to the side looking at Raxel, not dropping his gaze. Raxel looks back, trying to put a finger on his friends intent. Wouldn’t have been the first time he did this type of thing for a personal gain.

Dropping his shoulders, sighing lightly Raxel grins and nods, “why not? It is the day I start a new life right?” Sythzer laughs with glee, and jumps into the couch besides Raxel crossing his leg and lighting up the joint. After he takes a couple hits he passes it to Raxel. Raxel takes it and hit a joint for the first time in his life. Looking over at Sythzer, who is grinning like a mad man, he cant help but wonder. What else will he let himself be talked to. Feeling his past life fading Raxel breaths out and coughs. The smell overwhelming the room he lays hi head back and closes his eyes.

Sythzer leans in and whispers lightly, “Don’t worry about a thing mate. Ill be here to take care of you from now on, hope you remember that.” He pats Raxel’s chest and puts an arm around his shoulders. As the drug takes affect they sit and ponder their own thoughts.

Chapter 2:

Raxel slowly wakes from his high still feeling the slight buzz. He feels himself being carried but can’t see where he is being taken. His sense are a blur, the only thing that can hold his focus in his stated is the dim view of lights passing slowly from overhead. Looking around weekly he notices Sythzer carrying him from his feet. As he lets his head hang back he sees a hooded figure but cant make out who it is. Eyes rolling to the back of his head Raxel blacks out into darkness.

--

The buzzing got to him first, the sound of a fly constantly buzzing in his ear. Then the stench, the smell of rotten flesh, and a thick layer of fresh blood. The iron potent enough to taste with each deep inhale. His eyes open slowly and a blue light is hanging above him, swaying back and fourth,. He thinks to himself, ha really sets the mood for all those scary scenes I have heard about. As he tries to rise he notices that he has been restrained to a table.

Panic ensues as he cant lift his wrists more then a few inches, hard cold chain digging deep into his waist as he franticly struggles to force the bolts from the table. “Sshhh, quiet. No need to fight your fate,” a hand slams into his mid chest, pinning him down and knocking the air from his lungs. “See it’s all better when you don’t fight mate.”

With a start he finally notices the voice that pins his mental frame down with his body. “Sythzer? What is the meaning of this? What are you doing to me?” Suddenly lights flicker on, blinding Raxel and he feels a blades tip burn into his neck. With numbing pain he tries to scream but each motion for sound cause his flesh to press against the metal. All his muscles tense, and after what seems like a life time the blade is lifted. Although he can no longer feel the sting, the scent of his melted flesh, and the pain brought with every breath sways his mind that his is all a bad trip.

His eyes adjust and he sees another figure in the room, holding the knife with the with his burnt blood and skin on it. All he can see of the man is his twisted smile, and the scar that crosses over his lips. As if someone had stitched his lips shut and he ripped them out.

As the man turns to leave, Raxel focuses his attention on Sythzer. Glaring at him with vile rage. “And it’s done!” He places his hands on Raxel’s cheeks and kisses his forehead. Pulling back he jumps around gleefully and yells, “welcome brother! Be reborn and feel your new life.” As the echoes die he leans in and whispers, “don’t fret all will be made clear soon.” With that a needle enters into his neck and he is again left to the sight of death’s darkness.

--

Slowly he’s eyes opened, Raxel was still in the same room, though now untied. Seemed to be a random cellar, the constant buzzing was a power generator that had been used to power the light that was now off. But light was emitting from a door right in front of him.

He slowly rises and feels his muscles ache, the metal table hadn’t been good for his back. Standing his legs almost give out, and he has to place a hand against the wall to hold him up steady. He stands straight and regains his balance, walking slowly to the light. Isn’t sure if it will lead to his survival or his own doom.

As he pushes through the door he is struck by the sun and blinded for a bit. As his vision stabilizes he sees that he is in the middle of town, people giving him curios glances as he realizes that he is shirtless, bloody, and covered in burses. Turns around and looks up the building he was in. Total and utter shock as he notices that the building is a police building,

The world seems to freeze around him as he thinks of how Sythzer could have gotten him there without no one noticing. Dwells on the fact that he might be a cop and his pulse rises, fear creeping into his ever fiber. Quickly he turns and looks down the street, the feeling of eyes peering at him fuel his speed as he starts to flee down the road.

Looking for a place for shelter, a cop car pulls up to his side. Raxel about to hop a fence hears a voice and stops dead, “hey mate what you running from?”

“Wha- Sythzer? What the fuck is going on?” Sythzer hops in his seat in a joyous spasm, and motions for him to get in. Raxel looks at him, unsure if he should follow is order or run like a murderer being hunted by the whole state. Slowly he approaches the door and gets in the front. Sythzer throws him a police shirt and just looks at him. “I know you don’t expect me to act like I’m a cop all of a sudden.

Suddenly all the joy and happiness disappears from Sythzer’s eyes, his voice says in a tone, chilling and commanding, “no Raxel I don’t. I expect you to do exactly as I say from now on. What happened two days ago was only the first part of your initiation. Your first mission begins now.” Unable to ignore the force behind his voice Raxel puts on the shirt and sits back, doors already locked. Waited silently for the destination of his so called first mission.

They pulled up to his parents house, Raxel looking at Sythzer in wonder, “what do you expect me to do here?”

“Well you need your things don’t you? Time to collect. Oh, and by the way, make sure you get the money your mom saves in her closet. Don’t try anything stupid mate, I know more then you can ever imagine, and we see everything.” With that he pats his back and points to the door.

Raxel gets out slowly, shaking his head and straitening out his clothes and walking up the steps to the door he used to call home. Looking at the bet rotting door that used to protect him from the outside world he feels a sting of guilt as he grasps the doorknob and pushes inside.
