So... Wicked wasn't what I had expected. It veers so far from the book it's not even funny. And what's with the ending? I was under the impression that she dies. Dead. Gone. Finished by Dorothy. But no... they wanted to make it all cheerful and campy and make it one of those happy endings. So she lives, and runs away with a very much alive, albeit animated scarecrow, Fiyero (who really should be DEAD too).
I did enjoy the music though, and the costumes, if not the story that they so utterly twisted and butchered. I am glad I saw it though. Though, I wish I saw it before I had read the book, because when you look at it from the angle that it should follow the book at least a little, you become very disappointed with the whole thing. I got the Original Cast Recording CD, which I've been listening to nonstop since the show ended. I'll be adding my favorite song to my profile in a bit. "No Good Deed", I was thinking about adding "As Long As You're Mine" but it makes me think of Ron, and then I get depressed.
It was really good though... despite the story. The music is wonderful, the costumes and sets breathtaking, and the actors were truly great (except Fiyero, he couldn't sing like the original guy). So yeah, I'd see it again, because I did enjoy it. But, it still can't beat Phantom.
So, Samhain was pretty great. I spent the whole day with Ron, and got to scare little children (as well as adults).
