I just finished watching The Hurt Locker. If you're into serious war movies, this one is a definite must see. It doesn't even feel like you're watching a movie. The acting is brilliant, it's not overly bloody and gory, it's just a fantastically done film. It's one I'm going to have to add to my collection.
"The rush of battle is often a potent and lethal addiction, for war is a drug." - Chris Hedges
Of all the Greek myths, I find the story of Pygmalion and Galetea the most interesting.
If you're not familiar with the myth, it goes like this:
Pygmalion was a gifted sculptor from Cyprus who had no interest in the local women, as he found them immoral and frivolous. Instead Pygmalion concentrated on his art until one day he ran across a large, flawless piece of ivory and decided to carve a beautiful woman from it.
When he had finished the statue, Pygmalion found it so lovely - the very image of his ideal woman.
He gave the statue a name: Galatea, sleeping love. He fell in love with this ideal woman, his statue. He bestowed gifts upon the statue, and one day prayed to Aphrodite. Aphrodite took pity on Pygmalion and brought his statue to life. Pygmalion and Galatea then married and had a son (and in some versions of the story, a daughter as well).
It's kind of weird, as far as myths go. But, I find it beautiful. It's one of those happy ending stories, the kind I don't normally like. But, I guess the whole thing about his art coming to life speaks to me. Not that I'd go and fall in love with any of my creations.
There really was no point to this entry, now that I think about it. Whatever.. Enjoy the Greek mythology lesson. Or something.
ThouShaltNot does a fairly good job at re-telling the story, in their own way. Enjoy.
I like happy ending stories, so many end in tears. Interesting song.

So, I just checked the standings for the contest, and Tinnu is in second to last place. I got thirty votes. I'm looking forward to this contest ending so I can put up the new layout.
There has been a change to the Terms of Service, Section III, Account Structure. The new wording:
Vampire Rave is a subscription-based and free website. Two membership options are offered to all members. Subscription-based service includes enhanced features not available to free members.
You are only allowed to have 1 free account. If you wish to have multiple accounts, all accounts you maintain must be subscription-based, henceforth referred to as premium.
The following exceptions exist, for members who have multiple accounts:
- If a member has a lifetime membership, they may have up to 3 additional free accounts.
- If a member has 5 or more premium accounts (of any duration length, so long as they are current), they may have up to 3 additional free accounts.
- These exceptions do not 'stack'. The most free accounts a member may ever have is 3.
So, according to the change, as a Lifetime member, I'm allowed up to three free accounts? Well, that's good to know in case I ever run out of money to pay for Tinnu. But, I've been a Premium member since the third day I joined this site, I can't ever fathom having a non-premium account.
I'm starting to regret entering Tinnu into the contest. The negative feedback and ratings I'm getting really suck. Don't like the fact that my music starts automatically, don't like the fact that I have some scroll boxes to keep my profile from being too long? Tough. It's my page, not yours. I don't give a flying fuck what you don't like. Not going to vote for me, think my profile isn't half as good as some others? I don't care. You are entitled to your own opinions, but there's no need to send me pointless messages.
A sweater, a 6 moth PM and VR store knick knacks isn't worth it. People really annoy me sometimes.
Okay.. I need to stop focusing on the contest results before I drive myself crazy. I'm just gonna get off for a little while. The less I focus on the contest the better I'll be.
However, I want to say good luck to all the finalists. And, I wish I had Moonie's graphics skills. Man, can she make a beautiful layout.
You seem surprised by this fact. You shouldn't be. *Grins*

Oh, this is awesome. I think I totally fucked up Tinnu's chances at the contest, I was still updating when Cancer paid me a visit, and I don't know what he saw. Haha, that's great. Well, I didn't think I'd make it anyway, so, meh. :]
I agree with Abstract, no doubt you'll win considering the Tinnu layout is pretty much great, and the other people on this site...well, most of them lack the ability to create extroadinary layouts like you.

"Every time a VR shirt is given away, a member's level goes down. This one of those Yin/Yang things. Universal Law of "Something or another." Very technical New Age stuff."
BillytheJust posted that is some stupid thread that had to be closed. It really made me laugh.
Haha, Wallflower is too sweet. When I posted the journal entry about not being a name on that Famous VR Names thread in the Sandbox, he goes and posts this:

I don't know how anyone's neglected to mention her.
I've been on v.r for...I don't know, it's going on four years now. And as far back as I can remember she's always been a sire and a very active member of the site. She's been a ton of societies, and helped alot of people out in the process. She's a very talented graphic/image editor...and she's a very generous person. :)
She's another person who's journal is on my favorites list.
I wasn't looking for sympathy or a mention. Personally things like that remind me of popularity contests, and I'm no fan of those. But, he made me smile. So I thank him for that.
