Apparently starting next year I will have almost as much "sick time" available as I have actual personal or vacation time.

But I can't use sick time unless I'm sick or have a medical appointment.

Going to have to convince my doctors to write a lot of notes....

Same for me, but at least my work cashes out all but 40 hrs at the end of the year.

Mine doesn't. It rolls over, and then if you get too much it goes into sick bank for people who need more. Which I don't mind, but then they can't claim it's really my time off if I'm restricted on how I can use it.

Will they take references? I can testify under oath that you're sick!

That's a lovely offer, but I think it has to come from a doctor's office... sorry.

We will feed the children of the neighborhood delicious chocolate treats and fatten them up for the scorn of winter that lies ahead.

Is it poetic? Perhaps it is poetry to the children... it's supposed to be near 70F tomorrow night. A rarity for these parts, indeed.

I insist on the good stuff. Because there's always leftovers.

That makes sense! It's suppose to be 80 here... maybe 79.. I don't know, they keep changing the forecast. I don't think they know either honestly. I'm hoping it is at least lower 70s by trick or treating time otherwise the chocolate is going to melt! Not to mention I will be out with the kiddo. It's October already! Come on Mother Nature stop forgetting your hormones!

Lure with reeses? But that's the lure. We save those for last. Again, leftovers. ;)

Besides, we need something to have in the van later....

Went for a bike ride to the farmers market this morning.

The cold air reduced the air pressure in my bike tires. It was like riding in mud.

It was a good workout.

Second day in a row I started surrounded by people who have a primary goal in life of making the world around them better for everyone.

Imagine if everyone thought and acted this way....

I know you do. :)

These were just events. My daily 9-5 is hardly uplifting, but we do important work for the health and wellbeing of the community at large.

But there's something about being surrounded by people celebrating people, and their accomplishments to directly impact the lives of those who seem to need it the most.

Loving others with true altruistim is a wonderful mindset. Appreciating them in their success is so much more fulfilling than tearing down those whom we perceive as rivals to our own happiness.

Absolutely agree.

Our societies would do better if they understood the concept of "survival of the friendliest."

It's amazing to experience the differences between people who strive to do things for others - who look for opportunities to improve the lives of the people and communities around them... and people who just have their own self-absorbed goals.

The energy differences. The ambition differences. The way they treat the people who are there to support them.

It's a shame it's taken me so long to recognize this.

Sometimes I really want a do-over in this life....

I've gotten to the age where when I want to watch football, I want to be in my own house, in peace and quiet, where I can pace back & forth in front of the TV and flip channels whenever I want to.

Any other situation just gets on my nerves.

The organization I run photography workshops for wants events on the schedule. I'm busy and don't want to schedule more.

So I outsmart myself and schedule a workshop on a distant farm that a friend of mine works for. Figured it's far enough away no one would sign up for it, and it would cancel.

Of course 6 people sign up for it.

It was a nice day to be on a farm though....

Made mega nachos for dinner Friday night.

I now have enough nacho toppings left over to cover 4 party size bag of chips.

Not that I'm complaining... I'll watch football tomorrow and just pretend I'm in the stands eating multiple orders of $13 nachos...

Successfully changed the fog lamps on my truck in under 20 minutes (not including the bike ride to Advanced to get the new bulbs)

I like that I picked a vehicle that is relatively easy to do work on.

They're not made that way anymore.

My daughter bought a Subaru. To change the headlights we have to take the whole front bumper assembly off. I have my work cut out for me on that one...

For real! My old cars I could easily change my alternator.... If I tried now, I'd likely completely F something up... they're just not the same nor are they made with the quality parts they use to be.

birra

00:26 Oct 13 2024

Right? You go to a store to get a new alternator and you get a poorly reman'ed of a 3rd party brand that wasn't good to begin with. And then a year later, you're changing it again.
