...professional athletes tend to take offense to when people refer to them as "Entertainers." They seem to think that playing a sport, risking injury, pitted in competition against other athletes is somehow above what is done by those more traditionally referred to as entertainers.
However... let's look at American Professional Football for a moment: sure they train all year and have countless rules to how they play their sport. But they go on stage about 20 time a year in most cases and... whether they perform well or not, they get paid to do it.
Unlike a traditional entertainer, their show is never cancelled if their performances are consistently poor and the show sucks. When two bad teams that can barely find a winner against each other play, the show still goes on even though there might not be a point to it, at all.
So in that regard, I think I would put most traditional entertainers above them.
In the regard as to how much they get paid... well... I watch the Bills, who just lost their 9th game this year, out of 11 games... and again in heartbreaking fashion - when they had the winning score all but made.... all I can really say is...
...I wish I could get paid millions of dollars a year to do my job this poorly on a weekly basis.
COMMENTS
They get fined for being that bad actually. Also, that will only go on so long before the weak links get cut.
...well, now... that didn't take long, did it?
...yep. It's out there. Waiting. Mocking me. Daring me to enter its open jaws and dagger like teeth. Disguised by its friendly, welcoming looks; begging children, their parents - one and all to come play in it.
And... my friends... it will have you right where it wants you.
The only known antidotes... hot chocolate... and brandy.
But not mixed together... eww.

I'm going to go out and shovel once this food processes. There's a yummy thought.
its beautiful here today...it was a stormy night with snowflakes, hailstones and lightening and I sat and watched it from the warmth inside. I just wanna go make a snowman and fling a few snowballs at my neighbours now, just for the hell of it :)
We still don't have any :(
But the drambouie is ready for my cocoa!
Last night's "storm" was interesting. Lightning is always so much brighter and more brilliant to the eye when the world around it is draped in white.
I'm jealous- we hardly EVER get lightning here. But we did get snowed on alot on Thursday. And just for the record, Bailey's and hot chocolate is divoon...lol
But no shovel- Scott is supposedly taking care of that today while he gets snow tires- that should take him oh.....about all day...lol
I watched the Penn state and Michigan state game today and there were flurries. :)
Personally I prefer Bailey's in my coffee and Rumple Minz in my hot chocolate.
Yep - it's been snowing all over the North East - contrary to popular belief around America, Buffalo IS NOT the snow capital of the world.
lol kinda how like Wine and Orange Juice....ewwww
def dont ever try to mix them like I did 0_o

My bad! I'll reign it in.
Picky, picky.
Ah; sorry for Journalling about feeling shmexy...but there was just...something in the "Air" here last night....
Just think what the webcams will bring
Yeah. I'm sure I share a little too much sometimes. Then again, I figure that people won't read it if they have an issue with it, and if they do, it's their choice.
So... right across the street from the mall about two miles from the office, they are opening a Buffalo Wild Wings...
...in Buffalo. Where the Buffalo Wing was first created by early morning thought processes saturated in beer... Thick with irony, right?
They're running a promotion. Free wings for a year for the first 100 customers.
Now, as tempting as that sounds, and I don't know if it is a standard promotion that they run... to me it smacks of desperation. After all, they're opening in a town that literally... and I mean, literally has a family run pizzeria on every block.
And the vast majority of those family pizzerias make wings that are soooo much better than anything Buffalo Wild Wings could ever come up with.
But I guess Pizza Huts still survive here. It blows my mind that they do... but they do.
Maybe being here, Buffalo Wild Wings will actually start to make Buffalo Wings the way they were intended to be... crispy and cooked... not the slimy, mushy wings I've gotten from them when travelling to other regions...
COMMENTS
We had a BW3 in Tallahassee.....the college kids used it for drinking, not eating. I ate there a couple of times- not bad, but typical fare.
No... They'll make them slimy and mushy. The wings here are seriously amazing and those are the ones we get from the place just up the street.
I think the last time I was at a BW3's was in Houston... I wouldn't even go with "typical fare." It was below average to me.
Fortunately, I was there mainly to drink.
I like the peppered fried wings at Old Chicago myself. They look harmless like little fried chickens and then they bite right back.
I've always been told, don't give money to the people on the street... they won't put it to their benefit but instead will probably spend it on something detrimental to themselves, like drugs, alcohol or cigarettes...
...I'm starting to feel like paying my taxes are pretty much the same scenario... the government is stopping me in my daily routine to ask for money and if I give it to them, they're going to waste it on something detrimental to themselves and ultimately, detrimental to all of us.
I think the government should go spend some time living in a shelter and being served soup from volunteers for a while...
COMMENTS
But the government isn't asking for money; they're taking it from you. And they're using it to prop up banks and corporations which neither lend you money, nor hire people.
It's more like a hold-up.
That is exactly how it feels - especially being a small business.
I don't know anything about the economy--but on the note of homeless people spending money, I thought this was really interesting when I read it months ago.
Point of interest.
That is interesting.
Maybe it should be a lesson learned as to how real people live and get by... expecially for the politicians who have a hand in your pocket while sending out letters asking for more...
I'm glad you thought so. ^^
My main concern at the moment is how much post-secondary institutions ask for before you can learn. I thought it was ludicrous but necessary--but now I'm seeing where some of my money is actually going.
Sort of the same thing. Or not really.
I feel the same about my country.
...no matter how many times I've told her not to, my mother still sends me chain-emails.
"Oh, this one is so sweet.."
No, it's a waste of bandwidth. You can send me an email and ask a question without a huge M&M character graphic and the obligatory "Send this to 10 of your friends" message.
And enough of the virus warnings too. This is what I do for a living. I don't need an email that has been warning people about a horrible virus since 2006... it's not news, it's not important.
Stop it, please.
COMMENTS
My grandmother does it, too. My brother has blocked her and she just doesn't understand why. We asked her to stop for years. I suffer the need to delete like 10 emails a day from her without reading them, my brother just said screw it. She send chain mail, forwards tons of jokes, and the like... we usually miss regular emails because everything from her account is marked to delete.
She *sends*...
Exactly the reason I don't block her - if I miss a legitimate email, you know the trouble that would cause.
She limits the chain email stuff.. but somehow can't resist the temptation completely...
Maybe a filter for attachments and for email size? Dunno man, parents and computers are a dangerous combo...lol. Of course our kids will be saying that same thing somewhere down the line about some bio implant or something.
I finally convinced my parents to stop forwarding these kinds of emails, and now they never send anything at all. That wasn't my intent. Grrrr!
I like clicking "reply all" and sending something completely offensive back.
My grandmother isn't blocked by me, but I still miss regular emails because I'm too used to putting everything from her in the trash. I can't tell one 'No Subject' from the other and I hate looking at all of them.
I'll admit here that I have lied to her and said "I rarely check email so if you need something: call."
I got FOUR today- from friends AND relatives...
I never know what to do with those that warn you of viruses though...lol
I'll make two suggestions on that one.
1. Go to snopes.com and look it up.
2. Ask your friendly neighborhood IT professional and he or she will let you know if it is real.
It's a good thing my family can't use the computer.
However friends used to send chain e-mails but stopped when they discovered facebook.
Now I receive chain messages on facebook. I am doomed.
....what? A few clouds now puts everything behind schedule? You don't even have to wait for some rain?
I hope the Eagles and Flyers don't win another game for the rest of this year.
You suck.
COMMENTS
Ouch.
Maybe that is what happened with Buffalo. Someone got angry and said "I hope the Bills and Sabres don't win anything"
Would make sense...
That's true.. I need to figure out how to make a curse like that actually work...
Calm down... she will be home soon. :)
I haven't had the pleasure of that airpot for over 30 years....so can't comment-
But if you really want the curse to work, do what I do when I want it to snow.....:
Raise your hands over your head.
Flap your hands open and closed real fast.
Repeat after me:
"OOGAH BOOGAH"
Works every time...lol
Should make for a wonderfuly spectacular welcome home kiss, etc.

A new sentoran in training, for sure.
I just read Morri's latest rate comment on my Profile... I laughed hard enough to transcend into a coughing fit.
ahhhh.. have to love Heart lyrics.
Thank you, love. :)
Ok, for you all shorthand textophiles out there, please keep in mind there is a big difference between the words "Know" and "No."
"No" IS actually a word, so shortening "Know" to "No" makes what you type look fucking retarded.

Hey I agree, it really annoys me too. Off with their heads!
LMAO! This made me snort.
but... but.... I thought you could understand what i was saying You" No " what I mean Don't you ? Know?
What's scary is that some high schools are starting to allow text speak in papers.
Ugh.. I'd kill one of my kids teachers if they let that pass...
...damn my eyes. I saw this name as immortalcubicle.

lol ; )
cubicles do seem to be immortal, what with their eternal punishment and all.
or maybe it's: I'm mortal, cutie!
hehehe I saw it at first glance as immortalcuticle ???
Hahahaha the extremely long lived home of a prairie dog!
=) Fabulousnesses and stuff.
LMAO!!!!!!
Don't feel bad. The other day I read the word Banners under the main menu as Boners.
Crazy... I’m normally tone deaf. In environments with a lot of ambient noise – say, a bar or a crowded meeting room, I rarely can hear women’s voices clearly. Something about the pitch or tone, or maybe that they just speak more softly in general, I can’t hear them.
It has always made it difficult to meet women at bars, etc… I tend to do a lot of nodding and saying, “I’m sorry, can you repeat that?”
But on this flight… there is a woman sitting across the isle and two seats forward… I can hear clearly… she is speaking SO DAMN LOUD. And it is incessant. She hasn’t stopped talking since takeoff. I think her name must be Filly Buster.
I’m glad I’m typing this and enjoying a drink and not trying to sleep…
Part two of her comment...
"Paek think that we intend to do something, but if there is commitment and nnà;nny not shaken all the difficulties that exist, it would not be hard to attention because everything that happens at ourselves. Degongnegn to give up or give it to the most vulnerable, nothing has come easily Paek I believe that."
...hrrrmmm...

My eyes hurt- WTF was that???
She's using a translation program.
A pretty bad one, apparently.
ahhhhh it hurts.... must look away.... but I can't o.O
I made a comment about New York electing yet another out-of-touch, career politician for Governor this week... on another forum of course... and this is the response I got from someone...
"After trying to answer your question, Paek also confused a little as you ask or talk about anything but try to analyze more, and then as if the campaign or do something, but to someone about a lot will take a minute. than to be like the right to negotiate a deal or not."
Anyone?
Anyone?
Bueller?
Maybe I'm alone on this thought island, but to me, someone who opens a mentorship here should at least know some of the basics about this site... like, who to ask to unsuspend a profile...
How do you "mentor" anyone if you don't know the answers?
COMMENTS
I have to agree on that one...fo' sho'
Amen!
I was on that same train of thought as I was looking at the pages and pages of mentorships last night. If someone that just joined VR were to even make it through all of the pages, they would be dumbfounded and not join any of them. Hence without direction, they would maybe not stay around very long. Maybe a mandatory test for the applying mentors to take to ensure that they have common knowledge of the VR manual, enough to help out new members would help keep the mentorships more at a minimum instead of having only a few members in one and many in another.
Or maybe, Mentors have to be Level 80 AND at least an Acolyte.
That way new acolytes that come in at level 65 get to be tested a bit before they're allowed to actually "mentor" new members.
It would definitely reduce the number of mentorships and make sure new members are actually getting questions answered...
I agree that something proactive needs to be done in the mentorships to make them more for what they, or what I thought their intended purpose was. To me, right now, they seem more like Sci-fi groups. Just my thought though.
They totally are - I mean, some mentors have a good grasp of the site, rules and functions.
Most mentorships are nothing more than little club-houses where the members remain as clueless as when they entered them...
I concur ;)
