Monday Morning Cheerleader: Omarlla of the Bills

A veteran sideline beauty swallows another Buffalo loss to a playoff favorite just long enough to tell us who's going to the Super Bowl

Seriously, Esquire Magazine? You start an article about a cheerleader with the phrase, A veteran sideline beauty swallows another?

But then again...

...professional athletes tend to take offense to when people refer to them as "Entertainers." They seem to think that playing a sport, risking injury, pitted in competition against other athletes is somehow above what is done by those more traditionally referred to as entertainers.

However... let's look at American Professional Football for a moment: sure they train all year and have countless rules to how they play their sport. But they go on stage about 20 time a year in most cases and... whether they perform well or not, they get paid to do it.

Unlike a traditional entertainer, their show is never cancelled if their performances are consistently poor and the show sucks. When two bad teams that can barely find a winner against each other play, the show still goes on even though there might not be a point to it, at all.

So in that regard, I think I would put most traditional entertainers above them.

In the regard as to how much they get paid... well... I watch the Bills, who just lost their 9th game this year, out of 11 games... and again in heartbreaking fashion - when they had the winning score all but made.... all I can really say is...

...I wish I could get paid millions of dollars a year to do my job this poorly on a weekly basis.

BW3's?

22:09 Nov 19 2010

So... right across the street from the mall about two miles from the office, they are opening a Buffalo Wild Wings...

...in Buffalo. Where the Buffalo Wing was first created by early morning thought processes saturated in beer... Thick with irony, right?

They're running a promotion. Free wings for a year for the first 100 customers.

Now, as tempting as that sounds, and I don't know if it is a standard promotion that they run... to me it smacks of desperation. After all, they're opening in a town that literally... and I mean, literally has a family run pizzeria on every block.

And the vast majority of those family pizzerias make wings that are soooo much better than anything Buffalo Wild Wings could ever come up with.

But I guess Pizza Huts still survive here. It blows my mind that they do... but they do.

Maybe being here, Buffalo Wild Wings will actually start to make Buffalo Wings the way they were intended to be... crispy and cooked... not the slimy, mushy wings I've gotten from them when travelling to other regions...

I've always been told, don't give money to the people on the street... they won't put it to their benefit but instead will probably spend it on something detrimental to themselves, like drugs, alcohol or cigarettes...

...I'm starting to feel like paying my taxes are pretty much the same scenario... the government is stopping me in my daily routine to ask for money and if I give it to them, they're going to waste it on something detrimental to themselves and ultimately, detrimental to all of us.

I think the government should go spend some time living in a shelter and being served soup from volunteers for a while...

No, it's a waste of bandwidth. You can send me an email and ask a question without a huge M&M character graphic and the obligatory "Send this to 10 of your friends" message.

And enough of the virus warnings too. This is what I do for a living. I don't need an email that has been warning people about a horrible virus since 2006... it's not news, it's not important.

My grandmother does it, too. My brother has blocked her and she just doesn't understand why. We asked her to stop for years. I suffer the need to delete like 10 emails a day from her without reading them, my brother just said screw it. She send chain mail, forwards tons of jokes, and the like... we usually miss regular emails because everything from her account is marked to delete.

Crazy... I’m normally tone deaf. In environments with a lot of ambient noise – say, a bar or a crowded meeting room, I rarely can hear women’s voices clearly. Something about the pitch or tone, or maybe that they just speak more softly in general, I can’t hear them.

It has always made it difficult to meet women at bars, etc… I tend to do a lot of nodding and saying, “I’m sorry, can you repeat that?”

But on this flight… there is a woman sitting across the isle and two seats forward… I can hear clearly… she is speaking SO DAMN LOUD. And it is incessant. She hasn’t stopped talking since takeoff. I think her name must be Filly Buster.

I’m glad I’m typing this and enjoying a drink and not trying to sleep…

I was on that same train of thought as I was looking at the pages and pages of mentorships last night. If someone that just joined VR were to even make it through all of the pages, they would be dumbfounded and not join any of them. Hence without direction, they would maybe not stay around very long. Maybe a mandatory test for the applying mentors to take to ensure that they have common knowledge of the VR manual, enough to help out new members would help keep the mentorships more at a minimum instead of having only a few members in one and many in another.

birra

03:54 Nov 05 2010

Or maybe, Mentors have to be Level 80 AND at least an Acolyte.

That way new acolytes that come in at level 65 get to be tested a bit before they're allowed to actually "mentor" new members.

It would definitely reduce the number of mentorships and make sure new members are actually getting questions answered...

tr1n1ty01
tr1n1ty01
04:22 Nov 05 2010

I agree that something proactive needs to be done in the mentorships to make them more for what they, or what I thought their intended purpose was. To me, right now, they seem more like Sci-fi groups. Just my thought though.
