...we did make sales today just for that reason.
"I wanted a new laptop, but didn't feel like getting trampled at Best Buy this morning."
That is as good of a reason as any to avoid the consumer market today! I think it will become our new company motto...
"Aspire - because no one has ever been trampled shopping with us."
And, this particular customer is getting a top-notch new Lenovo laptop with their new VibrantView LED display at a great price - along with all the service and extras we stand behind every sale with.
Smart man. :)
...today is the day when the vast majority of the general public gets sucked in and swept away by the big box world's promises of great deals.
I perused the local ads yesterday to find.. little of interest in the technology world.
I mean, really? 4GB flash drives for $10? Aspire has been offering a 4GB flash drive for $10 since May...
Folks, shop from the comfort of your own home anytime - we don't demand you show up at our store at midnight the day after a holiday to get a good deal.
Just finished a new blog entry - you can read it up at www.aspiretechnet.com/blog.
WOOT!
...off-shore call centers for tech support.
Trying to get a customer's dead laptop warrantied under an HP recall program... which means I have to work with HP's call center in India.
The customer didn't even buy this notebook from us, but we're still going the extra mile, including dealing with non-english speaking technicians so they don't have to.
I wish I could take a deep breath and have more patience with this guy, but deep breaths are in short supply for me these days...
Unfortunately HP is once again not going to stand behind their consumer line products and their asking price for a repair ($400 plus S&H) is way to high to be justified so this 31 month old laptop is a door-stop.
Buyer beware... this is the shoddy product offerings these companies put on the shelves of your local department and consumer electronics stores.
We do NOT sell these models just for this reason...
Big news! We finally opened this up to the public so anyone can go, browse and see what we offer.
No more registration to get in, or having to login just to browse products and prices!
Check out the new digs here!
BTW, we ship nationwide across all 50 states and odds are we have a warehouse near you!
And yes, we've even shipped to Hawaii and Alaska - no kidding!

Sure-I already registered to go see all the goodies last time you talked about it *grin*
Its all good.
I ordered a laptop from Aspire. I've never had a more customer-centered experience. The equipment is top notch and the service was excellent. What more could you ask for?
Gonna order a laptop for Xmas for my kid ;)
...so who knows about Solid Ink technology from Xerox? This stuff is amazingly awesome.
No toner dust.
No toner waste.
No big chunky cartridges to store and recycle.
Non-toxic.
Less than 2% waste of all consumables.
Higher quality printing than traditional color lasers.
And no waste of consumables if you have to swap out printers like we just did for a customer. They work in a warehouse and their equipment just gets choked to death by dust, dirt and grime. Their 5-yr old printer died, it couldn't be repaired, we picked up a refurb of the same model for less than a repair would have been...
...and we were able to pull all of their unused ink out of the old printer and drop it into the new one.
Probably saved them about $120 in supplies right there.
Learn more about Solid Ink.
If you own a business you owe it to yourself to check these out.

A few years ago we had one of these at the Pentagon for intelligence maps that needed better quality relief. The SecDef was impressed and we bought three. They were hugely expensive though. It was like feeding crayons into the little hoppers...lol. Cool
They've come way down in price. Starting network/workgroup model is only $799, which is less than most high-speed color lasers.
I always tell people, if you can figure out a pre-schooler's shape sorter ball, you can load the ink in these. It is THAT easy.
And you don't have to wait for the "toner out" message either, you can load them up on the fly!
...I drove out to Albany/Schenectady today to meet with a client and do a repair on a scanner. As I mentioned before, we do warranty work for a 3rd party warranty provider and this customer has a high-speed scanner that started having issues with it's document feeder.
No biggie - changed out the feed rollers and guides, it's running smooth and jam-free now.
Of course, we discover while it is apart that the hinge spring for the flatbet cover is broken in two. The warranty expires next week. We're already getting the reasons from the warranty company why this obvious manufacturing defect shouldn't be covered...
"It's only cosmetic..."
"It doesn't affect the scanner function..."
"It's not mechanical..."
"It's a common failure point..."
Right.
A 1/4in steel spring that helps lift a 4-pound lid... it just snaps in two... no, no defect there.
So guess who gets to lobby for the customer against the warranty company.
Guess who gets to drive back out to Schenectady to do the repair if I convince them it should be covered.
Yep.. another 8 hours of driving to replace a spring.
It's a good thing they will pay well to do this...

I read all of this and as much as I feel for you, I mostly just can't get past wanting to ply you with rum and make you say, "Schnectady."
Consumers have no idea how lucky they are to have someone like you that cares and goes to bat for them. Bravo!
But it's Schenectady...
I call shotgun!
...why does it seem like everything stacks up at once?
Thanks be to Morri for being there!
She is a key to what makes us the hardest working IT company out there!
...it's been a while since I've done this.
I think I still remember how.

Safe journey's love!
You're a pro.... ^.^
There is a 5 am???
Fly the friendly :)
After the last few days of what seemed like endless meetings, I think I have finally discovered my company's niche.
Our niche is... having absolutely no niche.
It's true. We may be able to drive business partnering with other niche IT companies who simply don't want to do things we do - whether it be the product resale (www.aspiretechnet.com/shop) or phone systems for small businesses, or VOIP services, or managed print services, or just the on-site, hands on technical services we already do every day.
More and more we meet other IT companies in the area that specialize and then ask if we'll be their outsource partner for these other services.
