Why wonder?

And people wonder why I have completely lost faith in the human race...

NEW YORK - A Wal-Mart worker was killed yesterday when “out-of-control” shoppers desperate for bargains broke down the doors at a 5 a.m. sale. Other workers were trampled as they tried to rescue the man, and customers shouted angrily and kept shopping when store officials said they were closing because of the death, police and witnesses said.

At least four other people, including a woman who was eight months pregnant, were taken to hospitals for observation or minor injuries, and the store in Valley Stream on Long Island closed for several hours before reopening.

Shoppers stepped over the man on the ground and streamed into the store. When told to leave, they complained that they had been in line since Thursday morning.

Nassau County police said about 2,000 people were gathered outside the store doors at the mall about 20 miles east of Manhattan. The impatient crowd knocked the man, identified by police as Jdimytai Damour of Queens, to the ground as he opened the doors, leaving a metal portion of the frame crumpled like an accordion.

“This crowd was out of control,” said Nassau police spokesman Lt. Michael Fleming. He described the scene as “utter chaos,” and said the store didn’t have enough security.

Dozens of store employees trying to fight their way out to help Damour were also getting trampled by the crowd, Fleming said.

Damour, 34, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 6 a.m., police said.

...people are such lemmings, it is fucking ridiculous.

I think it's time to lock people in Wal-Mart to protect the rest of society from them...

Maybe at the moment they realized this person had been seriously injured or killed, they should have locked the doors of the store and not let anyone one. Then the police could have came and arrested every single shopper on a count of accessory to murder....

No argument.

That is so horrible and cruel. There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of piggish evil.

I will second you both on this one. What ever happened to the days where it didn't matter? There is something similiar in my journal as well Birra about two guys that killed each other at Toys R Us on Friday as well. Its just a total loss of appreciation for all of it humans and everything in between for me.

They broke the flipping door- someone in another journal said that those in the front should be charged with murder. Perhaps that will make people STOP and THINK before they run for the TV or other sale items.

This is definately not one of the good parts of humanity.

Yup. Totally agree. It proves a long standing point of people being stupid and enmass dangerous.

Shopping in the true spirit of Christmas? It makes you wonder; who the hell are these people. But most people get a herd mentality and decide anything they do is okay as long as they're just one member of a crowd.

After working for a law enforcement agency for just under 27-years, the sad reality is that most people don't think about consequences before. They only seem to be able to consider consequences after. (Unlike you and I). I've decided there are people who only think A to B, and those who can think A to B to C.

I've seen people go out and write $18,000 in bad checks to an account in their name which has almost no money in it and then blubber like a baby when they get arrested. Heavier punishments just don't work when people don't seem to have the capacity to think more than one step ahead. They often show true and sincere remorse when they're arrested. It's like it never occurs to them that they could be punished until after they've already committed the act. I genuinely think it's a reduced mental capacity to think more than one step ahead or a lack of training and practice to think ahead more than one step.

Real dreams are for other people...

...I had the craziest dreams last night.

Fighting off being devoured by fire ants.

An office full of people that I didn't know.

And someone... faceless, unknown... but her scent... Her scent.... a scent of youth and innocence. A scent of sex... so real, so vivid. My fingertips could almost feel the flesh...

...and so many things kept dragging me away... friends, responsibilities... neglected tasks....

Why does my brain insist on betraying me when I'm not controlling it?

I'm only threatened by the algae they have added to the gene pool...

The government enacts so much legislation to protect us from ourselves... you know, if I don't want to wear my bike helmet and I crack open my skull, that was my choice.

Why can't they enact legislation to keep stupid people from breeding? That is a direct threat to us all.
