In case you're wondering about the kismet, To two errors, do not do the right and left three. It is the Engrish translation of, "Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do."

...when I see a profile here and the owner shouts in big, bold, colored text, "DO NOT TRY AND HIT ON ME, I'M MARRIED (or engaged, or with someone, etc...) it honestly makes me assume your significant other is a jerk who is going to get unreasonably angry with YOU because someone else finds you attractive or hits on you.

Otherwise, if you're not flirting or hitting on the other person back, what the hell is the big deal? If someone gets obnoxious about it, block them, but to throw up that immediate warning comes across as childish and honestly as if you're not very secure in the relationship you shout about being so important to you.

Take the flirtations with some appreciation, express your disinterest and move on. Being hit on on-line isn't akin to an assault... in most cases.

I guess I've outgrown that. Now I just ignore come ons and if they really bother me I email them a pic of what I actually look like that. That typically does the trick.

Many of you might remember Brad. Or as I referred to him, Douchebag. For some reason he has been coming to mind a bit more lately.

In response to someone's comment in the coven forums about how people "get back" at those that bother them... I had posted this. I thought I would share it with everyone:

Oh sure, we kind of did the same thing to Brad for a while - after he called out my technicians and myself on a conference call attended by everyone, saying we didn't communicate enough with him. We communicated just as much as any of the other techs - he just wanted to call out my team on something. So after that we started communicating EVERYTHING.

"Flight is delayed."

"Landed."

"Got my rental car. Another Taurus. It is red."

"Configuring devices."

"Still configuring devices."

"Answered questions from the nursing managers."

"Out at lunch. Having a chicken caesar wrap."

Etc...

We were the first annoying twitter update service, but with as much as we were already communicating with him, this was about all we were leaving out. So if he wanted more, he got it.

Then he complained it was too much... so we went back to what we were doing and he was happy(ier).

But he was still a douche.

Anyway... just wanted to vent that.

Can I remind everyone that this was the guy who had a tech scheduled to go to California when he was actually supposed to go to Canada? He didn't realize Provinces have their own two-digit postal code (ON, BC, AB, etc..) so everything in Canada he listed as CA.

And he has a masters degree and a certification in project management.... *ahem*

A colleague of mine asked me if I would give an interview to the local newspaper tomorrow regarding his business. He has an awesome website he founded - so the interview should be easy.

So he is texting me information while I'm driving, and I am answering him when I am stopped in traffic. YES Morri, only when I was stopped. Anyway, so I'm on Elmwood Ave. and stopped in traffic near a construction area. I pick up my phone and start reading a message he sent. I look up and notice the car in front of me was moving forward but traffic wasn't so I figure they were just creeping up.

But then that split-second realization hits.

They're not creeping. They're accelerating. And they're oblivious to the fact no one else is... and...

BLAM.

I shook my head a bit, pulled around them as the inched to the side of the road. It didn't look like there was too much damage, but the woman in the SUV that got rear-ended looked PISSED.

Can't blame her. I can only imagine what the other person was doing or thinking.

Personally, I started thinking me texting and driving caused the other person to stop paying attention... but that is the delusional paranoid in me speaking...

Please do realize in the current status system you get a 1% bonus for being a pupil in a mentorship. Which means when you hit level 80 and you can be a mentor, the system kicks you out of your mentorship and you drop back to level 79.

From there you can rejoin a mentorship, but once the 1% bonus hits your status, the system will kick you out again and you'll be back to level 79.

Unless you enjoy being a ping-pong ball, you should probably just hang tight at level 79 and work a getting up closer to level 81 before opening your mentorship.

This is just my advice and my attempt to be as diplomatic as possible. Personally I think the requirements for being a mentor should change. Level 80 is probably a good level to enter to be a mentor but I think there should actually be a test, if not a requirement to pass the acolyte test before a member can become a mentor.

Too often mentorships are little popularity clubs while their members still ask all of their questions to acolytes and other admins. On many occasions I've asked the inquisitor why they didn't ask their mentor for help with their question and invariably the answer was that the mentor didn't know the answer.

And mostly, this is basic stuff that is covered in the VR manual.

...a good discovery yesterday. When a couple customers asked me if a certain employee still worked for me... but didn't know his name. He was then described by both customers as the guy with the sail boat or the guy that was on ski patrol.

Not described as the guy that discussed cost saving management and service plans, or the guy that helped them find ways to increase productivity...

Here is a good rule of thumb and a lesson learned that I won't soon forget. If you're in sales and your "clients" know you for the things you do when you're not working more than what you can help them with, odds are you're talking to them about the wrong things the right way, and the right things the wrong way or simply not often enough.

It is great to make friends and build rapport - it is an important part of building strong relationships. But if that is all you're accomplishing from 9-5, you're a drinking buddy, not a sales professional.

Regardless of the presence of other people in line and around him, he paced across about twenty feet of floor in front of the station in a manner that looked like he was doing the pee-pee dance.

At the cashier station, the woman checking out orders, entirely too close to other peoples' food was even more disturbing. Her dark purple uniform shirt was so covered in animal hair and dandruff, she looked like her own personal health-code violation.

Honestly, if you're living a life that hasn't in some way been touched by cancer (the disease) you're living in a charmed world and should let others in on your secret. I have lost many loved ones when they have lost their battles with cancer. I have participated in fund raisers and events to help with research and awareness.

Your assumptions based on what was a joke that could only be made and appreciated here, on VR, a site run by someone who calls himself Cancer... well, I'll just say you're off base, and leave it at that.

I have supported friends and family through their fights with cancer. One thing I know for certain, if you make it too serious and too grim, you're already giving in. If you can't keep the people you love laughing as they struggle with these illnesses, you're probably not helping them much at all.

Yes, it is a serious subject - but if we took all of our serious subjects in life serious all the time, we wouldn't laugh very often, would we?

Restless night...

...a lot on my mind, I guess. I didn't sleep well and had bizarre dreams last night. I woke up several times to discover I had no sheets or blanket on me. I think I just kicked them off - but this fact infected my dreams.

In one dream, I had made a trip to Australia. Upon arriving, I was waiting for a shuttle in a public waiting area. For some reason, I decided to take off all my clothes and take a nap. A blanket was provided, but I couldn't get myself completely covered with it, so I kept feeling cold and exposed.

As you can see, directly affected by my restlessness and situation...

...but I was able to fall asleep and only woke up when he shuttle had arrived and the room began to clear. I didn't want to get up and be naked in front of everyone so I remained laying, half-asleep, trying to get my bearings. When I finally got up, I discovered William Shatner had stolen my luggage and all my money...

The bastard.

But I still had my clothes, ID and a credit card specifically for use in Australia. So I went to a restaurant on the beach. As I set there eating, a wall opened up and allowed to Ocean to flow into the restaurant area, setting the entire building afloat on the water. Rough seas and waitresses don't mix...

Yeah... strange one last night. I need a nap.

...I wasn't even going to charge you an install fee, until I got there and you had nothing... NOTHING ready to go. Don't waste my time and then tell me being billed for it is unfair. I'm not here to do everyone favors; I still need to feed my kids, too.

Unless you plan on taking over that responsibility, you owe me for my time and skill in making your entire network work.

Does that sound fair?

Ungrateful people irk me. Do they not realize that it's your business and not just a hobby?

...I know. They matched Bin Laden's DNA with his sister who died in Boston. One of his wives visually identified his body to US soldiers.

...a DNA match with a sibling. Estimated at 99.9% accuracy.

Now they need to round up all of his other siblings and count heads. Problem is, it is possible no one knows for sure how many siblings he has. It could be more than 50.

And a wife would never, ever lie to protect her husband in the Muslim culture, would she?

Good thing they disposed of his body so quickly to respect the Muslim beliefs he bastardized in order to gain power with his followers...

If you think about what the press and Government are feeding to us for about five minutes, you'll discover that it is very unbelievable and bizarre.

Unfortunately, most people are too busy running around, waving awful signs, throwing parties, and squawking about justice to actually think about what we are being told.

As it stands, we are being told that a terrorist leader was neutralized after years of war and thousands of deaths surrounding an attack against America on American soil he was reportedly responsible for, and his body remains and all vital evidence were dumped off of a ship to respect the funeral customs of his supposed religious beliefs.

We are being told that the proving evidence is a DNA match to a dead sibling. The results of which would have been the same if it had been any other of his numerous siblings.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist and as things progress and more news comes out, we might learn more and this might make more sense. As it stands now, none of it does and none of what they are feeding to us is substantial proof.

20:38 May 02 2011

This is what I'm saying.

The only certain evidence, apparently is now fish food. I am hoping... hoping beyond hope, that THIS is the part that they're lying about in order to avoid a media circus and even more outcry from people of Muslim faith.

If the government was smart, his body would be packed in ice in a generically labeled wooden crate and on the next Air Force cargo plane back to America.

His body is evidence. It is evidence to close the case on perhaps the most extensive man hunt in modern history. To dump it is unthinkable in a forensics sense. It would be like Detective Fuhrman finding the bloody knife in the back of OJ's white Bronco and throwing it away without ever presenting it, in the name of respecting the victims' memories.

Ludicrous to think of.

And consider, if a person of Muslim faith is murdered in America - how long do you think the body remains in possession of the coroner's department in order to properly conduct an investigation? There is little worrying about faith when evidence needs to be gathered for an investigation.

Knowing how bizarre my country is with it's policy on terrorism and asylum, he has most probably has been in the UK for the past ten years living on benefits, staying in a mansion worth 1 million while protesting and burning poppy’s!

Also when I Iook at the information that we have been given 'your right' I feel it really does appears wooden.

I don't think that they have gotten rid of his body, that would just not make sense!

The issue that I think most people will now have is his reported death will achieve absolutely nothing other than raise the probability of another major terrorist attack, and going on the evidence of our governments attempt at stopping them, it most probably will go the same way.

When the news came out that said Bin Laden was dead and we had the body, I thought oh boy, we will get to see it and know once and for all that he is dead. Almost the next sentence was that he was buried at sea to respect the Muslim beliefs....HUH? That was a bit quick. Just a bit.

So...

17:18 May 02 2011

...so let me see if I have this right.

Bin Laden is dead. Supposedly. There is no body because he was buried at sea immediately, according to Muslim customs and because there was a fear no country would accept his body. There is DNA evidence as well as physical descriptions of the person that was killed, not much more than his height, though... so they're almost positive it was him.

He was killed in a raid on his suspected hideout by US Navy Seals... in a city that has a main function of being where a Pakistani military base and training facility is located. And despite Pakistan giving us the old, "we know nothing," routine for 10 years, they have no issues with us barging into their country, just outside of a military base, and killing people.

But they're almost positive it was him.

No body.

But they're almost positive...

*shakes head*

Perhaps another ploy and act of mis-direction on behalf of the Whitehouse and secret offices to keep the gullable public at rest.

My bet is that the intention is to use this news to gain public support... enough support to have the masses stand by the American goverment in their next invasion of some country with oil or other resources to plunder.

And after 10 years of running rings around the Americans and the world he just happened to be found now.... after all this time, lol Yeah mines a baby sham!

We took out Pakistan's trash since they clearly were not interested in doing it for themselves. Lazy bastards.

Burial at sea was too good for OBL, but I can see why no one would want to provide a terrestrial burial and risk the grave site becoming a shrine.

I wanted to see Osama's head on top of the gates of the White House, all medieval-like.

No, at your window, I won't read Fox News. I like to go to sources that might possibly not slant their reports. I know what I'm going to get with FOX.

I actually gathered that information from several news sources, including ABC News, CNN, Reuters and BBC.

I just don't buy it. I don't think is has to do with raising Obama's popularity or distracting America from the woes of the current economy. I am however embarrassed by the response of our fellow citizens. Celebrating in the streets over the death of one of our enemies puts us on the same level as the people we call uncivilized when they do the same.

I refuse to celebrate killing in a time when peace is in such short supply.

I agree with ThothLestat, if they killed him "again" they should have put his head on the gates not dump a body at sea.

The news that I watched this morning stated that they confirmed that this was Bin Laden through DNA evidence. (His sister died in Boston of cancer and her brain was kept solely for the purposes of confirming Bin Laden body once we found him)

Sorry Birra but I was there that day (in the city not at ground zero) and I have many friends that lost loved ones in the attacks..... I cheered the news last night

.....and to Thoth's point had they brought that body here I would have been overjoyed to see his head on a stake - or better yet have his body drawn and quartered in public so we could all dance on his internal organs....

I know that this is harsh, and you are very right that we need as much peace as we can get ...... but there are just some things that you make an exception for.

*shrug* - just my 2 cents

I personally would have demanded photographic evidence. And as far as "letting them bury him according yadda yadda yadda", to hell with that. I would have had his body here hanging from the gates of the White house, to prove a point-

And I personally am sure as is the Rat, that this was timed to give Obama as much back patting time as possible into the next election- anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.

I was at work when the news broke. I was glad I was with people who know enough about my previous marriage and its history that they realized what a shock this was to me, and help accordingly. Because it was definitely a weird shcok, hearing this.

Just... wow.

Pressing the brake harder doesn't change the fact that the coefficient of friction is less than the tangent...

Know what I mean?
