Temps hitting 60F.
Sun shining in the skylight, warming the house.
Easter Sunday.
Looks like it's naked day in Birra's house.
....until I go to the Sabres game tonight, that is.
What an excellent trip.
I really needed that chance to unwind. Long-ass blog entry coming soon.
With pictures.
I love traveling.... I love my friends.
Doing laundry... getting to the packing.
I really need this trip...
I've spent far too much of my time and resources on other people through the years. I'm doing this for me.
In other cool news - tonight was science night at my boys' elementary school and my oldest son was one of the stars of the show.
He joined "Lego Club." Ok, sounds like a bunch of kids getting together and building square, multi-colored houses. I'll give you that. But really, his teacher runs the club and has personally outfitted the club with a half-dozen Lego Mindstorm robot kits.
Build-it and program-it robots.
My son was described by his teacher as the best programmer she has worked with - child or adult. A local college had graduate chemistry students there doing chemistry lab demos an in between their shows, my son was teaching them how to program robots.
He's a cool, nerdy kid. ;)

They say genius skips a generation.
Was your father brilliant, by chance?
He is his father's son...something to be very proud of. My kid was tested for reading ability when he was 4 at the pre school he attended. He was reading out at a 12 year old level. That's my kid there...lol
No, that's the bald-gene, Globehead. Hopefully my boys will get to keep their hair. ;)
And if they don't Birra; blame their mother :P
Damn straight. It comes from her side of the family anyway.
Great hike.
It was so peaceful. I don't know if I have ever gone to the Eternal Flame alone and found it devoid of any other people. Only saw one couple hiking in before me, walking their dog. They were already on their way back out, deterred perhaps by the icy conditions.
But when I got to the flame, no one was there. I had solid time to photograph, enjoy the peace and reflect on the amazing little piece of nature this area is.
On my way hiking back out a family was hiking down, and the father was carrying an unprotected IPad...
...survival tool for the woods, no doubt.
*boggle*
Funny how much Sahahria's visits have changed in recent months.
The entire posture of them is different. And it all feels like a positive change.
Safe travels, my friend.

:) You are a lucky man to have such a friend. Glad to see you are traveling, enjoying work again. And dang- your son is really one to be proud of.
St. Patty's weekend. I think it's a good time to open that bottle of Jameson I've been saving.
Or should I say, neglecting?
Went to this great show tonight at Buff State College. SPACE: Science and Art Cabaret. It was actually a lecture series, incorporated with electronic music and jazz fusion.
The music of Vangelis, combined with lectures regarding geological and topographical discoveries on Mars, the art history of Martian lore driven by scientific error and the real study of extrasolar planetary systems....
...they had a photograph of another solar system, where the planets, all the size of Jupiter, were visible. The start they orbit is almost the diameter of the orbit of Pluto.
Current data graphs predict that in the Milky Way galaxy alone there are over 17 Billion planets the same or a similar size to Earth.
17 Billion.
And that represents less than 20% of the estimated number of planets in the solar system.
Mind.
Is.
Blown.
Time for that Jameson.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, Jameson.....I love that tater sucking Irish bean head.
Breakfast at work today was catered. I think I ate more for breakfast than I have in the last 3 days combined. Which is nice, since I was able to have a very light lunch, and now a maintenance salad... lettuce, tomato, cucumber and avocado, for dinner.
Keeping it light. Have to get in shape for all the adventures that are about to unfold....
Long day.
At a hotel, hot coffee, and a warm cookie.
I miss moments like these.
Last full day in California. Tomorrow is a travel day.
I need to clean up and get going, but I have zero motivation right now.
I met my room mate for this trip last night at the reception dinner.
After that, I didn't see him again until breakfast. Apparently the hotel screwed up, put him in one room and me in another - so we both got our own rooms.
Sometimes, the fortunes do play out in my favor... not often, but I'll take these little victories.
Slept for less than 3 hours last night, caught an early flight.
Napped on a plane.
Changed over 3 time zones.
Been going ever since, still not tired.
Drank too much.
Bottles of water stacked by the bed.
Need to be up at 5AM.
...just like old times. Almost.

Yeah! Glad to see you back in the airports. :) That is good, right? Right?
Big question of the day is... do I pack the field camera or the good camera for this trip?

In studio, events... a D90.
I still have my D40X to do things like, motorcycle runs in a rainstorm...

Well I would certainly hope so- that you would get dressed for the Sabres game anyway- can't have you distracting the players after all.....
