It got up to 42F here today - sun remained all day and the Powderkeg festival was rocking. The wait for the tubing run was over an hour and the kids don't have the patience for that.
So we solved the worlds largest ice maze, took in some sights and headed back home for some continued outdoor fun without 2,000 of our newest friends around us.
A good time nonetheless. Buffalo needs to do more of this stuff, on a more regular basis.
...it must be an early March or something. Aside from St. Patty's day and the drunken jocularity that surrounds it, I've never liked the month of March... the weather is wacko and nothing is on TV, sports wise, but college basketball.
But days like today are typical and much the reason for not liking it.
It is too warm to snow... yet, it does. All day. Wet, heavy snow. It's like rain that piles up.
Bizarre.
But... Morri and I are going to make the best of the warm temps and go have fun in the snow. Maybe build a fort in the front yard and throw snow balls at cars.
Or maybe just at each other.
Tomorrow is the Powderkeg Festival. I want to take the kids on the sledding run.
That is my goal tomorrow.

Only Buffalo would shut down an exit ramp to a highway for snow tubing. :)
And it's about damn time!
Who needs that ramp, anyway?
*jealous*
Aww that ramp is closed often enough anyway. This is nothing new :P
Batskins is over and Temptation101 won it. Congrats to her! Maybe it was predestined?
Won, oh, won?
Get it?
Ok, I'm a total nerd before coffee.
But congrats to her! On to the next contest!
Morri made breakfast for me before I had to leave for Albany this morning. A nice big'ol breakfast burrito full of sausage, eggs, onions, peppers, mushrooms and pepper-jack, in a spinich-pesto tortilla.
She knew I'd hit the road without eating if she didn't.
I could go on and on about how sweet and kind she is but then people would stop being afraid of her around here.
She does have that mystique to keep... :)
COMMENTS
Yes she does. :)
hmmm, a breakfast burrito with eggs, onions, and peppers?
oh, she's undeniably EVIL.
wait until the flatulence kicks in.
Just sayin'
Well, I was in a car by myself for 4 hours... just sayin'.
I make mine with eggs, cheese, potatos, red beans, and Miracle Whip...
Good thing we ain't BOTH in that car.
I'm just saying too....
You know, Microsoft... not everything you create has to be proprietary. Sticking to normal industry standards once in a while IS OK to do.
Sheesh.
Miller is the MAN! USA was outshot by Canada 45 to 22 and still managed a 5-3 win. Huge win in the tournament for them!
I wish I could stay up and watch Sweeden vs. Finland... on too late for this east-coaster.

aw rats... I was watching Ice Dancing last night.
Fap-a-riffic.
Yeah, Hockey isn't as fap-a-riffic, but there are more fap-a-riffic things than ice dancing too...
...I'm freakin' out, man...
COMMENTS
Yes, you are freaking out...man...
I told you not to drink that water lol
MOTHER OF GOD.
I wasn't even supposed to work today!!! :P
...what's up with the dot above the society menu?
BTW, if you're batty with this new contest and trying to find the last three... members in my mentorship get some clues.
Just saying...
...these veggie chips are too damn tasty for their own good...
...I just received an email from an address I don't recognize, containing a picture of me in my office...
*ponders*

...I'd probably call the cops, but that's just the kind of person I am, you know, overly paranoid and all. haha.
I love you ;)
I'm sure it's someone that I know. Just can't put a finger on it.
And, yes X.. I love you too.
*blushes* but that wasn't what I was meaning. I guess you breeders just don't get all the jokes :P
Sometimes the jokes don't translate without body language and inflection...
But hey, it was Valentine's day. I have love to give, man.
*hugs with a manly back thumping"
But not too much love... :p
Stay away from the windows............just in case.
If you meet a creepy man at a party, who tells you to call your office from a cellphone, don't do it. :-S
It is likely that he will answer the phone at your office, and the both of him will laugh in a very creepy and confusing manner...
After this, things will just get plain weird.
Know any David Lynch fans?
Ahahahahaha! :P
I would give the puppy a pat down if I was you. ;)
Excuse ME......pat me down for WHAT?
There are no hidden cameras in my collar, thank you very much, and besides- the Otter would bite me for it...lol
...my wrap just fell apart.
Yes, my journal is going to turn into nonsensical facebook and twitter quality updates.
Of course, the wrap totally reminds me of something I would have gotten while travelling somewhere... honey and orange glazed salmon with humus and homemade guacamole on a spinach and pesto tortilla...
...I need some tequila.
...hopefully this one will not escape the masses.

Aw, I kind of liked the other names. :p It's the science geek in me. I can't help it.
I got it!!!!
So did I- but I guess it is infinitely preferable to changing your profile name...lol
As Popeye said, I yam what I yam.
I just assume leave VR as change my adopted fake name...
Best half-time show, ever.
And not even the threat of seeing a nipple...
...although Pete Townsend's belly-button might have actually been more offensive.
COMMENTS
I agree! It was a kick butt show and I was wondering how everyone else felt about the belly show too. Unfortunately, it only made me realize their age....and for that matter, my own too, lol.
They still rock. Their age is merely more evidence that they were a pioneer of their genre. Look at some of their production over the years, the messages in their songs.
And they PERFORMED.
Not like the wannabes the half-time show usually books that lip-synchs to a pre-recorded studio track because they're afraid to have their real singing voice heard...
...I bet you do.
See, and that's the thing; every area shows the ways the Earth likes to recycle... whether it be earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados or blizzards good'ol mother nature just like to recycle.
My deal is though... that was about as bad as it can get. We've had other storms - a freak autumn snow fall in mid-October '06 that crippled the area with detroyed trees and power outages... 72-inches in 72 hours in December '01.
But generally, a blizzard... you see it coming. And if you're smart, they're not that tough to survive. No evacuation necessary, just camp out in the house for a few days with some beer, or wine, or... whatever.. preferrably with someone you can snuggle and get warm with.
Come to think of it.. blizzards can actually be kind of fun. Heh.
So when people give me shit about how much it snows in Buffalo (which on average is less or about as much as than other metro areas in the Northeast) I think.. yeah.. we have seasons. It snows here. Big whoop. On average, I think our weather is pretty darn nice. :)
Now if we could just kill all the politicians in New York, we'd be getting somewhere...

Telling stories over and over has a charm, that's how we know what makes a person- the things that stand out in their memories and and pop up more than anything else.
My son was 5 here during Hurricane Katrina. I supposed he'll recall it much like you do with this memory. He also played and acted his age during a very scary time- even though he still remembers it was a dark period. At 5 he told e that all I had to do was believe that everything would be fine, and it would be.
By the way, love the Abba ;) And I had no idea there was an Orleans county in NY.
Yes yes! So when we say something like "when we were kids there were REAL winters", we know what we are talking about.
I recall the news surrounding that blizzard...it was alien for me, being a Californian.
Anyway, it must've been terrifying for a five-year old!
I got some Quake of '89 stories - LOL!
I just realized I'm old enough to be your mom. *slinks off in a funk, my erotic daydreams shattered*
I was ten at the time and remember the news of this, seeing the images, thinking how great all the snow was. Too be so young and stupid. Wow- sure see it different at this age.
As much snow that we get up here I have never been though anything like that, quite amazing...
...just maybe.
Maybe I've found some of those elusive answers. Only time will tell.
Time and patience. I guess for now I'll just bite my lip and do what I have to do.
Just keep swimming... just keep swimming. Heh.

Buffalo needs to become known for the non stop winter partying. Definitely.

It should be a non-stop party.
Most of the country already thinks it's winter here 365 days a year. We should make the most of it.
