Fedorov becomes top Russian all-time NHL goal scorer





DALLAS (AFP) — Sergei Fedorov scored his 474th and 475th career National Hockey League goals here Saturday, moving him past Alexander Mogilny to become the all-time NHL goal leader among Russian-born players.



The 38-year-old Washington Capitals forward netted a power-play goal with 7:22 to play in the first period against the Dallas Stars to move past the mark he had shared with Mogilny.



Fedorov boosted his NHL total to 475 with a goal 11:23 into the second period of what would turn out to be a 6-5 Washington over-time triumph.



Two-time Olympian Fedorov already owned the NHL's all-time career marks for assists and total points by a Russian player, with 678 assists and 1,151 total points entering the game against the Stars.



Fedorov was taken by Detroit in the 1989 NHL Draft and helped the Red Wings with Stanley Cup championships in 1997, 1998 and 2002.



After 13 seasons with Detroit, he played for Anaheim and Columbus before joining Washington last February, where he helps mold last year's NHL Most Valuable Player and scoring champion, young Russian playmaker Alex Ovechkin.

The Caps beat the Stars in OT with a score of 6-5. Tomas Fleischman scored 2 goals, Tyler Sloan got a goal, his first one in the NHL, and Alexander Semin got the game winning goal in OT. Sergei Fedorov became the first Russian born player with the most goals scored in the NHL with his first goal of the night, overtaking the top spot beating out Alex Mogilny, his long time friend. Sergei also scored another goal. He had a 2 goal night. It was Kick ASS!!!!



Way to go Sergei!!!! Way to go Caps!!!

Sergei scored a goal the other night which ties him with Alex Mogilny for most goals scored by a Russian, one more and he'll take the top spot and I believe Mogilny is no longer playing.

The Caps play the Devils tomorrow night, Go Caps!!!!!!!

The Caps played Sid the Kid and the Penguins tonight. The Caps were down 3-1 all the way until the 3rd period. Then, the fire was lit and the Caps were on the attack coming back and winning 4-3. I love these guys. Alexander Ovechkin is awesome and no he didn't score but let me tell you, he plays wholeheartedly each and every game. Alexander Semin scored and he's on my fantasy team, woohoo!!!



I am just so happy right now and Sergei, well the guy is HOT and he was smiling, it was awesome!!! bout time he's on a great team again!!!!

My team is in first place by 6 pts:)

My Caps, lol, I laugh because I said MY as if they were mine, anyway, the Caps beat the Canucks 5-1:) Sergei, god my heart races everytime I mention his name, lol live with it peeps, I love this guy, anyway, he was on Defense tonight, he looks so good, ok even when he's bad he's good. Alexander Semin was hot tonight scoring 2 goals. He's on my fantasy roster so I'm happy!!



What a great night, also Detroit won and Lidstrom is also on my roster so that is a double bonus!!!

Because I'm a hockey fanatic, I have decided to make a designated home in my journal for all things hockey related:)



I LOVE SERGEI FEDOROV!!!! I know I'm like a broken record, so break me!!!! LOL

I used to love hockey in school.. I even made the school team as I was lethal with the stick haha! Good luck with your games honey :)
