Family Tree - Native Americans

I was told by my mother that my great-grandmother Ethel Carver had Cherokee in her. She would be my mom's father's mother.

I decided to look into my father's side, and I found that they too have Cherokee in their bloodline as well.

I found a woman named Lillie Berrie Faw (my 7th great-grandmother), who was born in 1750 in Polk, Tennessee, that was married to Tsquali Cheesesquire Kirkland "Nathan Kirkland". Newspaper thinks he lived to be 137. Lilly supposedly lived to be 101.

Then you have Thomas Lithfuss Orlefuss ‘Helton’ (a Creebeck Cherokee Indian who took his wife's last name) was born around 1730 in Terrible Creek, Halifax County, Virginia. He was a full-blood Cherokee Indian. He was my 6th great-grandfather.

Thomas was married to Bethenia Creebeck Helton. Her parents have interesting names.
Beechum "Owl" Helton (the dad) & So Wa Tsi Susan Winkler.
Beechum's father was Lieutenant Peter who was registered for military service in 1793. He served as a first lieutenant under General Nathanael Greene and Colonel Winston. Notably, he participated in battles at Eutaw Springs, Ramsours Mills, and Kings Mountain. His lineage includes Lt. Peter Helton Sr., Lt. Peter Helton Jr., and even Lt. Peter C. Helton, who served in the Revolutionary War.

There's probably more in the family tree that I'm not aware of yet but this is what I have for now.

The funny part is that whenever I spoke to Jonathan (Gaulder here on VR which is Sioux Indian), he said that I looked like I have Native American in me. My neighbor Jessica is also Sioux Indian and she said the same thing. I told both of them at the time that I had no idea. My other neighbor down the road Linda, she is also part Native American and she said it also. I have no idea how they can just look at me and say, "Hey. You look like you have Native in you." and actually be right about it, while I was clueless. LOL Until now anyway. :D

Best thing to do is get a good DNA test kit.

I already did one on AncestryDNA but I was told that sometimes it just doesn't show up.
