Ok.. so to start this off, I do watch wrestling. As in the soap opera for men type wrestling.
No, I don't think it's real in the sense that they're trying to beat the hell out of each other. I don't think much of anyone does.
However, calling what they do fake is definitely not accurate. It's supposed to be entertainment, not fighting. It is choreographed, to varying degrees, from just who will win a match in some instances, to nearly everything played out beforehand in others.
And it takes a tremendous amount of strength, skill, and athleticism to do what they do, make it look like they're trying to kill each other, without actually getting injured.
It is most definitely a fiery, bloody, full-contact soap opera for men. And as far as plot and storylines go, the two tend to be pretty equivalent to each other as far as acting goes.
However, there are always the jokes about the homoeroticism of two guys in tights wrestling around.
And sitting around tonight at a friend's place watching a DVD of some of The Undertaker's old matches, I caught a great example of how they do a great job of fueling those jokes.
During a match, one of the announces exclaims, "The Undertaker is really taking a POUNDING from his brother."
