when eating at a semi busy restraunt.
I'm prepping for a buffet party of 40, 54, or 78. While putting out orders of cajun prawn alfredo, or top sirloin, or even seafood platters and shit like burgers hot wings, thai peanut chicken and the random breakfast.
When your order isn't perfect, or something is a little off, remember this. Sometimes You aren't the only mother fucker that ordered food, and maybe there are more lazy ass servers than hard working bussers, which is often the case. And while those whiney lazy servers constantly bug ME about their order being up or something not being exactly right. I May be a cook, but i'm not perfect, sometimes I don't let the sauce reduce enough. Perhaps your orders fries weren't as crisp as you wanted but I still have diced tomatos to make, pickle spears to cut, make sure my bacon bits are cooked and finish putting away the buffet foods I just broke down not more than 2 hours after putting them up while being short handed.
When I pull a 9 hour day, its not by choice, its often out of necessity. And when I do my 9 hour day I often don't get my half hour lunch, or a 15 minute break. if I gotta piss, I go do it then come back. it sucks, but I deal with it.
But when you whiney, picky ass sons of bitches want 15 dollars worth of food for 8 bucks i'm sorry but yall can go suck a dick. people think that just cause on a salad you take away diced tomatos, and olives that you can get 1.00's worth of bacon, or meat and cheese added on? hell fucking no. it doesn't work like that. tomatoes diced=15 cents. same portion of bacon =.75 cents fuck that mess. Places used to share tips, servers, bussers, and cooks.
Mine isn't like that, I get my hourly wage and thats it. So when your server brings out your food in a fairly timely manner, so 5-10 minutes or less if its not something like cheeseticks be damn happy, and consider, the cooks are working as fast as they can normally, the servers doing what they can and we are trying to be a working machine.
Most importantly, KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE ORDERING. Don't "try something new" or order in a rush, looking at the right price and the wrong item. ask if something has an item you may be allergic to cause we don't have your medical history on record we dont' know if our bernaise will kill you cause your allergic to garlic. Don't assume we will comp everything just because it wasn't to your liking. like buying the wrong gas we aren't going to syphon what you've taken out of you, deal with it, suck it up. Know what you're doing and don't be an ass.
You're friendly cook- Rodney
