New Arch Enemy, nuff said!
But still...I keep hoping Alissa will somehow sneak in a bit of clean vocals because I can't help but feel that they are wasting her talents. I will reserve judgement until the full release but I'm hoping that they at least unleash Jeff Loomis on the new record.
The first journal entry I ever made here was about this band and since September is almost upon us, I figured why the hell not expound on it... I haven't listened to them in a while but was browsing through my music collection the other day and discovered them again among many other forgotten gems. They are part of a transmedia project created by Marc Silvestri, who is one of my favorite comic artists. The singer's character is a Reaper of sorts and reminds me a lot of Dawn, a character created by Joseph Michael Linsner (who just so happens to be another one of my favorite comic artists). Take a look, listen, and enjoy!
Some notable lyrics:
"We might be through with the past but the past isn’t through with us..."
"Loosing blind faith in daylight, Darkness comes all at once"
"No matter what comes of us, when we bleed we bleed the same"
"Death has always known who I am..."
"Escape from all your darker days, Follow me I'll lead the way back home"
"Even though the cuts you've had to make sent me to an early grave..."
"Here comes the rain, frozen drops of liquid sun"
If Robert Plant and Jimmy Page were already dead, I think I would have to seriously start believing in reincarnation. When I first heard the song "Highway Tune" from this band, I thought it was some long forgotten unreleased Led Zeppelin track. Then when I saw the video, I thought it was just some kids fooling around lip-syncing...until I heard them play live. It's been a long time since there has been a young band this promising. I just hope they can evolve beyond their obvious influences and establish a sound that is a bit more their own...but for now I'm happy basking in the nostalgia and acknowledging the fact that these kids somehow have restored my faith in the youth of today...and also the hope that Rock and Roll will continue to live on - even as the the Old Legends of Rock continue to fade away from this life (damn, that is depressing). Anyway - Cheers and Enjoy!
Wow, they are really good, love.... thanks for posting!
Perfect music for sitting outside on the porch in our old days and listen to them... ;)

A fantastic live cover of a classic featuring one of the grandfathers of rock along with one of my all time favorite guitarists. I love the part just a little after the halfway mark when Steven completely surprises Nuno by pulling off a vocal improvisation that seems entirely unrehearsed - it is truly a magical moment. Dedicated to my lady Asgardareid and all the other couples out there in VR land...
