I got to see my daughter this morning as she was dropped off for school, since being met a block away was too inconvenient. She was surprised to see me and very excited. Her teacher was there to greet her, as she has to walk all the arriving students to the door. She understood why I was there and she even OFFERED to take a picture of my daughter and I. I guess she didn't think I was interrupting the flow of traffic into the school. But what does she know?
I don't know who was along with my daughter as her mother dropped her off, but they seemed to have exclaimed "OH MY GOD!" to my being there for my daughter's first day of school. It almost... almost sounded appalled at the gall I dared to have to be there for my daughter. I suppose that is an appropriate reaction to a father wanting to be there for the things his daughter does whenever possible. Because if we parents remember correctly, it's about what our kids are living through. But I'm sure being offended by a father wanting to be there for his daughter is an appropriate stance for any good person to take.
I even got 3 text messages in regards to my being there, stating "That this was a prime example as to why I WAS NOT INCLUDED in anything for the LAST TWO YEARS, because I do not listen." while remembering another 'comment' about my not being there the last two years... Just... Let... That... Sink... In.
You think there might be a day 12 or so years from now when she says to me "Dad, I can't believe you showed up for that insignificant shit. You didn't need to be there! I mean... GOD!" ?
I'm pretty bad at this parenting thing, I know. I should get with the program and stop wanting to be there for my daughter. Shit's completely out of forbidden.
What can I say?
She kissed me goodbye like 12 times and ran up to her teacher and was walked in.
Littlefoot was all smiles.
a few hours of sleep before work and being up for 2 days straight. YAY..
LMFAO Life is getting very interesting.
and ridiculously fun.
