drinking and cajun ravioli

09:09 Feb 26 2010
Times Read: 523

slept for most of the day, got up and cleaned the house, and got cooking. i made my Cajun ravioli, for those who want the recipe it will be at the bottom of this entry. but then i sat down and had a few fingers of drambuie, which is the drink of the gods. and now im here, smoking a marlbolo and writing this. now im not 21, but i enjoy a drink now and then. but i ponder the question, why do i enjoy having a drink? is it because of the effects of the alcohol and the way it mellows me out? is it the fact that its consumption by those under 21 is illegal and im feeling rebellious? is it because it tastes like liquid awesome? or is it the fact that my family has a predisposition to alcohol abuse and im feeding those genes?

let me say further to the younger vampire rave members that might comment on my journal. drinking is not a game, it should not be glamorized, nor should it be taken lightly. i am under 21 yes, but i am not planning on operating any machinery in the next 9 hours, i am not surrounded my hazardous materials, and i am responsible with it. i agree with a majority of the alcohol laws that are in place and adhere to 99 percent of them, the exception is my possession of alcohol and my consumption of it in my own home.

anyhow, enough on that subject and on to the recipe. please let me know if you enjoy this and the results.

happy cooking

carlisle

1/2 stick butter or 1/4 cup margarine

1 cups to 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

1 small yellow or white onion

1/2 medium to large bell pepper

3 cloves minced garlic

1 green onion, coarsely chopped

Cajun seasoning to taste

Pinch nutmeg

1 pound cleaned crawfish tails

1 box breaded cheese ravioli

Begin by preheating oven to appropriate temperature marked on breaded ravioli package.

In a heavy bottom saucepan, melt butter/margarine over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Saute until onions are clear. Add crawfish tails and stir. Saute for 3-5 minutes until tails begin to curl. Add heavy whipping cream, Cajun seasoning and nutmeg. Stir. simmer for ten minutes over low to medium heat. Meanwhile bake breaded ravioli according to package directions.

If sauce seems to be too thin, use a thickening agent such as flour or as a last resort, corn starch. Sauce should be thick in consistency similar to that of an Alfredo sauce.

Once ravioli is ready to plate, check for consistency and seasoning one final time. enjoy.

of flat tires and the inquizitive look into my preferances of the procurers of the double x chromosones.

Times Read: 527

so my day today. went to work. we got slammed, but at least thats money in the bank. got in the truck, blared the dethalbum 2, turned the track to i tamper with the evidence at odin's murder sight and started singing away. got about a block from my house, and got a flat tire. but no big deal. so i get home and came in to my room, relaxed and watched a movie, like i so often do. if you have not seen or heard about the movie the host, id recommend it.

heres a link to the site i watched it on.

http://www.movies-links.tv/movies/the_host/

but in other affairs, the lovely young lady i was talking to yesterday is utterly amazing. i find it rare that someone can captivate me without me knowing all i can from them in a single conversation. but as far as personality goes, she has a ton of it. i cant speak for most men, but i know that i value personality and humor fair above the physical and ascetically pleasing features of a woman. dont get me wrong, im a 21 year old man. i enjoy all that, but in a way im tired of the meaningless dances of the flesh ive participated in for too long.

but yeah, so there was my day in a nut shell.

the McManus brothers shot Williem Dafoe in the ass with a Zesus lightning bolt

07:24 Feb 23 2010
Times Read: 555

i didn't do much today as i had the day off. what i dd do though was watch a few movies.

1. Percy Jackson and the lightning thief.

i enjoyed this movie. while the concept is a little far fetched, i enjoyed how the movie related the likenesses of our age to that of the Olympians. and while this does not have to do with the actual quality of the movie, Uma Thurman was Medusa...does it get better than that?

along with an interesting cast and a well written script, the cinematography was breathtaking, the lighting top notch, and the set building was amazing.

overall rating: 4.5 stars out of 5

2. the daybreakers

i liked this movie also. but be forewarned, if you plan to see it, do not be planned to be wowed by ethan hawke's performance. sadly, yet another movie dulled down by his constant monotone acting. the rest of the cast meshed together nicely however, with williem dafoe at the ships helm.

as for the story line of the film, i have to credit them for originality. i wont spoil it for those who have not seen the film, but its an interesting take on things. i will say however, if you have studied any screen writing, or are just good at predicting endings, youll see it coming a bit.

my overall score: 3.5 stars out of 5

and that brings us to...

3. boondock saints 2- all saints day

while this film has been almost critical criticted as a bad film, i liked it very much. it does have its corny parts, and if you have not seen the original film, many of the jokes will be missed on you.

i liked this film for a few reasons. mainly the fact that many of the characters from the origional film play themselves, the awesome dialogue between the Mcmanus brothers, and the awesome sense of justice you get from watching this movie. also

............................................................................................................. SPOILER ALERT ..........................

................................................................................

there is a seen in the movie where the brothers are talking to rocko through some sort of dream. theyre at a bar smoking, rocko walks behind the bar, and a cat walks across the bar. again if you have not seen the first, this will not make any sense, yet alone any humor. also willem dafoe makes a cameo.

i would recommend this movie if you want a good drama/ action with tid bits of hilarious dialogue mixed in there.

overall rating: 4.3 stars out of 5

if you disagree with my rates, or would like to add anything i may have missed, or if you have a movie you think i need to see, please leave a comment below

I loved the first boondock saints...it will be disappointing if Skippy is in the second movie. just a lapse of logic i suppose. i do hope that it isnt so obvious to take away from the movie :D thanks for the ratings!

this song

18:19 Feb 22 2010

i am in total love with this one song.

the song is Savior by Rise Against. if your not familar with them you should be. they have a very unique sound to them. if i had expanded the number of bands i like on my profile to 21, they would be in there. other songs you should check out from them are "Reeducation through labor" and "prayer of the refugee".

here are the lyrics to savior for those who would like them.

It kills me not to know this but I've all but just forgotten

What the color of her eyes were and her scars or how she got them

As the telling signs of age rain down a single tear is dropping

Through the valleys of an aging face that this world has forgotten

There is no reconciliation that will put me in my place

And there is no time like the present to drink these draining seconds

But seldom do these words ring true when I'm constantly failing you

Like walls that we just can't break through until we disappear

So tell me now

If this ain't love then how do we get out?

Because I don't know

That's when she said I don't hate you boy

I just want to save you while there's still something left to save

That's when I told her I love you girl

But I'm not the answer for the questions that you still have

But the day pressed on like crushing weights

For no man does it ever wait

Like memories of dying days

That deafen us like hurricanes

Bathed in flames we held the brand

Uncurled the fingers in your hand

Pressed into the flesh like sand

Now do you understand?

So tell me now

If this ain't love then how do we get out?

Because I don't know

That's when she said I don't hate you boy

I just want to save you while there's still something left to save

That's when I told her I love you girl

But I'm not the answer for the questions that you still have

1000 miles away

There's nothing left to say

But so much left that I don't know

We never had a choice

This world is too much noise

It takes me under

It takes me under once again

I don't hate you

I don't hate you

So tell me now

If this ain't love then how do we get out?

Because I don't know

That's when she said I don't hate you boy

I just want to save you while there's still something left to save

That's when I told her I love you girl

But I'm not the answer for the questions that you still have

I don't hate you

I don't hate you, no

me vs a flying burger bitch

05:34 Feb 22 2010
Times Read: 567

well today started out good for me. did not sleep past my alarm, the cat did not attack me and there was food in the fridge. then i made the mistake of going to work. for those who don't know, im a fry cook at a small business here in Georgia. and no, its not fast food. i could go on to elaborate on that subject but ill just say that when you are using organic produce, free range beef for the paties, and baked in house bread it is not fast food. but moving on to what pissed me off.....

i love my kitchen and expect it to be clean at all times.

if it is not i am not a happy person to be around. so when i walked in and the the entire thing was a disaster area, i was pissed. then when the manager said he was leaving without cleaning up i was further enraged....but this still isnt what pissed me off....

what pissed me off where the actions of an unhappy customer. i made a mistake on her burger and added pickles to it. a mistake on my part but all in all not the end of the world...at least to me. for her, not so much so. a minute after the burger was delivered, i feel a sudden impact on the back of my head and turn to see said burger lying at my feet. i then see her screaming past the counter and begins to knock over the coffee pots and an assortment of condiments. now i do not know if she was having a bad day, or if she needed physiological help, but i have never seen such a bitch in all my days. if you happen to read this, please understand that cooks and chiefs take extreme pride in our food, and if there is a flaw, we will do what is necessary to fix said flaw. but please do it respectfully. because of her outburst, her next burger had many an extra toppings to it if you catch my drift.

moral of the story is: do not fuck with the people who prepare your food.

shadow fox-why is this my user name?

06:50 Feb 21 2010
Times Read: 582

why is my user name Shadow fox? it has to do with my fascination with the supernatural, mainly the Kitsune of japanesse forklore.

Kitsune are believed to possess superior intelligence, long life, and magical powers. They are a type of yōkai, or spiritual entity, and the word kitsune is often translated as fox spirit. However, this does not mean that kitsune are ghosts, nor that they are fundamentally different from regular foxes. Because the word spirit is used to reflect a state of knowledge or enlightenment, all long-lived foxes gain supernatural abilities.

of the different types of kitsunes, i admire the Genko the most. while a majority of kitsunes are viewed as omens of bad luck, pestilence, and death, the Genko is a black fox that is viewed as a good omen.

i use this as an analogy for my view one the darker things in life. when things may look devastating and hopeless, if you look a little closer you will see it may just be a blessing from the darkness.
