Thoughts are things. The following video is real footage of one of the most controversial psychological experiments ever conducted. Of course, these types of studies aren't allowed anymore, making what we can learn from this video incredibly valuable. People percieve a certain inherent value in authority. We don't stop to think that those IN authority may themselves, have a complete lack of ethics, morality or common sense. This experiment was supposed to last for 2 weeks. It had to be stopped after 6 days. Question Authority.

I just knew from the first few lines of your journal entry that it was going to be this studya and I just had to come in and check. Milgrims Study was another cracker :)
A very wise social worker once said to me "power is something that we should never fully feel comfortable with because its at that point we can and will begin to abuse it"
Wow..!
For me, the question is also whether one has the mettle and the strength of character to stand up to the abuse of both implied, and actual authority.
In some circumstances, doing so has little risk in terms of physical harm or restriction of the real freedoms in life, as in internet websites. In others, such as protesting the elections in Iran, there is significant danger to life.
If people cannot be brave enough to stand up to those Little Hitlers, then what chance have we got when another real Hitler character (and there are many around now in the world), comes along?
Exactly, Stabb. You identified the precise reason I made the entry. The level of apathy and disenfranchisement in the world and time I live in is disconcerting.
I've seen this before and as Stabb has said, we must each of us make a stand, apathy is a springboard for all kinds of evil.
The chilling question..."What kind of prison guard would you be?"
Even the "prisoner" had to answer with an "I don't know." I think that really brought it home.
