Virtual Immortality Vampires Extended Life-Span.

Vampires are not immortal. But they are very long lived.
Vampires can live for hundreds, or maybe even thousands of years almost untouched by age and infirmity.
The secret is in a single gene which all humans possess, but is active only in pre-pubescent children... and adult Vampires.
The gene controls the production of a hormone called telomerase and telomerase is the key to virtual immortality.
In humans, as cells divide the chromosomes containing the DNA are replicated along with the rest of the cell. Each time this happens a portion of DNA on the end of the chromosomes called the telomere is lost. When the telomere is totaly worn away, usually after about fifty divisions, the DNA unravels and the cell dies.
In babies and small children a hormone called telomerase repairs the damage to the telomers allowing the cells to go on dividing long beyond the fifty division limit. Production of telomerase stops at puberty as the gene to produce it swiches off for reasons as yet unknown and we begin to age.
Occasionally, children are born with a reduced ability to produce teleomerase which is one of the causes of the disorder Progeria. They rarely live past their tenth birthday
One of the most profound effects of the Vampire retro virus plasmids is to switch on the gene which controls the production of telemerase and to boost its effectiveness with a version of its own in the packet of genetic material that fuses with the host's chromosomes.
So as the Vampire lives, cell division can continue almost indefinitely allowing cell damage to be repaired effectively leading to increased resistance to disease, efficient healing and of course youthful appearence.
Vampire Types

Vampires come in three distinct families. This site deals with the classic blood eating Vampire family
which I call homo wampyrus.
The other two families are also briefly described on this page along with the divisions of homo wampyrus which I have chosen to call 'types'.
Homo Wampyrus
The eaters of blood
Homo Wampyrus
This family is split into 'types', each type has it's distinct and separated physiology, anatomy, life-style and feeding pattern.
Of the thirty-six documented types, these four are more common than the rest put together.
((Homo Wampyrus Draco
The classic 'Dracula' Vampire))
Homo Wampyrus Draco
The classic 'Dracula' vampire. Made famous by Bram Stoker in his novel over one hundred years ago, this vampire is very much like the notorious Count. (Apart from being evil, see Truth & lies.)
This is the most common type of True Vampire and occurrences are spread the world over with concentrations in North America, Britain and western europe. Wampyrus Draco is human in appearance but with sharp retractable canine teeth in their upper jaws.
The Draco Vampire has a medium to poor tolerance to sunlight and will perish if caught in the sun for more than a few hours. Because of the outwardly human appearance, they are able to integrate easily into human society often acquiring honest jobs as night watchmen, club bouncers or similar in order to make ends meet.
They most often acquire blood through human friends acting as donors in the belief that the Vampire is actually a Sanguinarius human although as with humans there are those who would rather take what they want by force. Unfortunately it is these violent few that have set up the stereotype for the whole Homo Wampyrus species. In recent years movies like 'The lost boys', and 'Blade' have made the Draco Vampire 'Cool' and encouraged tolerance among humans even to the extent of seeking out Vampires in order to become one themselves.
((Homo Wampyrus Nosferatu
aka wampyrus rattus The 'Rat' Vampire))
Homo Wampyrus Nosferatu
The deformed Vampire. Also known as the 'rat' Vampire because of it's teeth. Named after the Vampire in the 1922 movie 'Nosferatu' who's Vampire design they strongly resemble.
They are less common than Wampyrus draco but are still surprisingly numerous.
With the Nosferatu, the change from human to Vampire has not been easy. The individual's immune system has fought the infection every step of the way forcing the virus to mutate in order to survive. The result is a Vampire who is disfigured and twisted in appearance. The typical example has a high domed head which is usually bald and criss-crossed by a network of livid veins, the face is long, thin and drawn with deep creases and deeply sunken eyes. The ears are often large and pointed or membranous and the nose upturned revealing the nostrils. The hands too show the signs of the Nosferatu with long tapering fingers, often with an extra joint, and sharply pointed and discoloured nails.
The Vampire will stand with a stoop or hunch as to stand upright pains the Vampire's twisted spine and can cause a slipped disc or worse.
Because of their looks, Wampyrus nosferatu are secretive and loners, rarely mixing with humans or even other Vampires.
They obtain blood through stealth, often from sleeping humans or even from farm animals. Like Wampyrus draco, Wampyrus nosferatu's distribution is world wide with concentrations in Africa, South America, The Caribbean and Japan. (it is thought that the Puerto Rican 'goat sucker,' El Chupracabra is an excessively deformed Nosferatu Vampire with a chip on it's shoulder.)
Nosferatu Vampires are moderately sensitive to sunlight and can tolerate it for hours at a time on a dull day, they are capable of a small range of shape-shifting capabilities the extent of which varies from individual to individual.
((Homo Wampyrus Sauria
The 'Reptile' Vampire))
Homo Wampyrus Sauria
The 'reptile' or 'lizard' Vampire. Not actually reptilian at all, the reptile Vampire is so called because it's teeth are all pointed and resemble those of a reptile such as a large lizard.
Wampyrus sauria is the most social of the four main Vampire types, mixing freely with humans and able to withstand sunlight for extended periods on an overcast day or indefinitely with the aid of sunscreen and sunglasses. (you see, Hollywood gets it right sometimes!)
With the exception of the teeth this Vampire has no other visible Vampiric traits enabling it to go undetected among humans. (as long as it keeps it's mouth closed! )
They tend to be flamboyant and outgoing and are often skilled business men leading to a vast wealth amassed over their extended life span. However, they are also prone to depression and are the Vampire I most commonly see as victims of suicide.
The Saurian Vampires are rare in europe but relatively common in the americas and australasia with concentration in China, Japan and certain parts of the former eastern USSR.
In contrast to their social habits, the instinctive feeding habits of Wampyrus sauria are the most brutal of all the Vampires. The attacker will rip large pieces of flesh from the victim, usually from the thigh, upper arm or throat and devour it after which the blood is drank from the wound until the victim dies. In modern times this rarely happens as like other Vampires, Sauria prefers to buy it's blood or obtain it from willing donors which are cut with a razor rather than teeth.
((Homo Wampyrus Chiroptera
The 'Bat' Vampire))
Homo Wampyrus Chiroptera
The 'bat' Vampire. The rarest of the four main Vampires, the bat Vampire (not to be confused with the Vampire Bat) is found mainly in Africa, New Zealand and south America with slightly larger populations in China and India.
Outwardly this Vampire is quite human in appearance other than a slight point to the ears and a tendancy towards a lantern jaw.
Socially they mix well with humans but dislike crowds preferring small groups of friends, sometimes including other Vampires although often not.
Of all the Vampires, Chiroptera is the most sensitive to sunlight, experiencing blistering and intense pain after even momentary exposure.
They are the only Vampire able to fully shape-shift into another form, a large bat-like creature.
Their ability to do this is governed by racial origin, lenghth of time as a Vampire and availabilty of food.
Psychic Vampires
The enery drainers
Psychic Vampires
Psychic Vampires are humans who have some telepathic ability and use this ability to draw the life force from others.
They come in two types, Intentional and unintentional.
The first type actively seeks out victims with whom the Vampire will attempt to interact in such a way as to provoke strong emotions, sexual intercourse is the most common. The Psychic Vampire will then use the time when the victim is at his or her most vulnerable to absorb the mental energy emanating from the aura. Other Psychic Vampires prefer to attack victims whilst asleep, often causing vivid nightmares upon the emotions of which the Vampire feeds. The victims will feel drained of energy and inexplicably tired after an attack, however death from Psychic Vampire attack is rare. Outwardly the Intentional Psychic Vampire is a normal, ordinary human being although many choose to become haemavorous as well, imitating the more common human blood-drinkers described above. Psychic Vampires are not immortal but are victims, nor do they suffer from the downfalls of True Vampires such as allergy to sunlight or allium.
Unintentional Psychic Vampires feed in precisely the same way as their more malevolent cousins. The only difference is that they are completely unaware that they are doing it. They will feel refreshed after sex whilst their partner lies in a stupor. They are morning people, having fed while they slept on other members of the household who will complain that their housemate is far too chirpy in the morning.
Sanguinarians
The Human blood drinkers
Sanguinarians
Humans who through choice or urge have become partly haemavorous.
Some style themselves after true Vampires or Vampires of myth or popular fiction, some are ordinary people for whom blood-drinking is an exciting diversion in their lives and some use blood as an aide to sexual excitement.
Whatever the reason for being a Mortal blood-drinker, a huge culture exists to support them. Most choose to advertise for blood doners or purchase it from blood banks if the laws in their country allow it. They take enormous care to ensure that the blood is not tainted with HIV, Hepatitis or other potentially harmful impurities.
The correct or preferred term for a blood-drinking human is a Sanguinarian.
Do Vampires fear religious symbols Noo.

Vampirism has been around since the dawn of man, long before the birth of even the oldest surviving organised religion. Christian crosses and other religious icons hold no fear for Vampires, after all a cross is only a symbol of faith and not the faith in it's self. However, if the human who is brandishing the cross is sufficiently strong in their faith, if the belief in the icon's abilty to repel the Vampire is absolute, then the Vampire can feel this in the human's psyche. Most vampires find this strong mental conviction unpleasant and will leave in search of less fervant prey. The human, of course, believes it is the cross that has repelled the Vampire and as a result their faith is strengthened further.
Although most Vampires have little time or interest for religion, some use religion as a smokescreen in order to appear more human and so fit more succesfully into human society.
That means they like them just as much as any other Human in this god forsaken world.
Ok guys Here the facts on Vampires cast no reflection.

Even Vampires cannot change the laws of physics! However, some Vampires, particularly the Nosferatu group, are able to affect the human mind to some degree.
This enables them to alter a human's perception and effectivly 'become invisible' to them at will.
There you go. theres the facts ok,
Do Vampires have super strength? Ok guys here the TRUTH! on that one.

Vampires enjoy a more efficient metabolism than most humans. Because of this, their bodies are able to perform more efficiently too.
Most Vampire's strength is no more than any human could achieve, the difference is that a Vampire has this strength without effort of training whereas a human would have to spend long, hard and regular hours in the gym to achieve the same results.
Some Vampires are able to use a degree of shape-shifing skill to adjust bone pivot points, muscle attachment ratios and tendon strengths to obtain powers beyound that which is achievable by their original bodies, however, this is rarely worth the effort and pain to perform.
Which is the facts there to..
Do Vampires sleep in coffins.
10:19 Jan 27 2009
Times Read: 554
Why would they? Coffins make very uncomfortable beds.
As explained above, Vampires are not dead or Undead. The coffin fixation is purely an invention of folk law and novelists. These days some Vampires make a point of having a coffin shaped coffee table or something of that sort as a kind of 'in joke' with their friends. The coffin is very much the 'flying ducks' of the Vampire community. Kitch, tastless but fun.
and that is all so facts.
Yes yes i know Vampires are dead (or undead) But i believe that is a lie to.

The misconception that Vampires are the dead somehow brought back to life stems from two places. First, one of the early symptoms of the onset of Vampirism is a prolonged state of catatonia or hibernation. Click on The Change in the main menu for more about this transformation.
In the past, this state with it's cooling of the body and slowing of the heart to less than five beats per minute was often mistaken for death and the 'corpse' duly buried. Upon awakening, the Vampire finds to his horror that he has been buried alive and proceeds to dig himself out. Naturally the Vampire's friends and family think he has come back from the dead.
Secondly, and more relevant to modern times is the fact that when a human succumbs to Vampirism, he or she withdraws from his or her previous life and hides or moves away, often without a word to friends or reletives. After some years the family and friends of the missing person assume that they are dead.
Years later curiosity overcomes the Vampire and he or she seeks out old aquaintances who are startled to find that not only is their dear departed still alive, but they appear to be no older than when they went missing all those years ago.
And the is the facts there to..
I do not Believe That Vampires are immortal.

Although almost true in the sense that they live to a very old age. Vampires can, of course be killed in all the same ways that a humman can with the exception of resistance to some poisons. The misconception that vampires can not be killed by conventional means may stem from their greater pain threshold, their considerable strength and the fact that their blood clots much faster and wounds knit at an accelarated rate.
A bullet in the chest (missing the heart) will often kill a human just from the shock and blood loss, whereas a Vampire would be able to keep going whilst the wound is sealed with a clot to prevent bleeding to death.
Vampires are also much less susceptable to desease than humans with even HIV unable to get a hold on the Vampire immune system.
The oldest Vampire that I an aware of was 'turned' at the age of 26 in what is now Thailand in approximatley 345bc. She killed herself in 1973 having spent well over two thousand years alive.
Apart from accidents, the most common cause of Vampire mortality is suicide. It takes a strong will to watch all those around you grow old and die, over and over again.
and that is the facts. We can make them Immortal by living each day and passing it on for every life that we had known.
The Truth about Garlic repelling and hurting Vampires.

In fact most haemavorous Vampires are allergic or at least sensitive to the entire allium family which includes onions, chives, leeks, shallots and of course garlic. The degree of reaction varies from individual to individual but it is with garlic that the problem lies. Garlic contains a chemical which causes constriction of the throat and larynx leading to breathlessness and in extreme cases death through asphyxiation.
Vampires are only active at night I Say thats a Lie
10:07 Jan 27 2009

It is true that the Vampire condition makes them extremely and painfully sensitive to sunlight, or more precisely ultra-violet radiation. However this does not mean they cannot move about during the daylight hours. Humans have evolved as diurnal (daytime) animals but, despite poor night vision and a strong urge to sleep, we still spend a great deal of our night-times fully active. The same is true for Vampires in reverse. As long as the Vampire takes care not to expose his or her self to full on sunlight they are quite capable of acting out a life style approximating that of their human neighbours. Given a choice, most Vampires would choose to sleep during the day and use the night-time hours to feed and socialise but this is in no way a rule. For most Vampires it's a matter of choice and factor 40 sunblock or More then 40!
Do Vampires only feed on blood. I say No.

Haemavorous Vampires, those that feed on blood, are by far the most fascinating and varied, however there is another kind that feeds on the life-force generated by every living thing and especially humans. Most of these Vampires, known as Psychic Vampires are outwardly indistinguishable from humans and many do not share other Vampire weaknesses like aversion to sunlight of garlic. Many Psychic Vampires feed on the life-force or 'psychic energy' of those around them without ever knowing that they are doing so and remain blissfully unaware of their true nature.
My Thoughts on If Vampires are evil.10:01 Jan 27 2009
Times Read: 563
Most Vampires were human once and therefore have the same capacity for good and evil as any member of the human race.
There are evil vampires of course, just as there are evil humans but Vampires are also as capable of as much good as humans.
Vampires are often portrayed as evil because of the nature of their food but Vampire drinking blood is no more evil than a lioness tearing a zebra to pieces for to feed her cubs.
In today's society, most Vampires discreetly advertise for willing 'donors' or purchase from blood banks in those countries that allow it, therefore avoiding the need for any stereotypical neck biting.
No i do not see them as Evil but for those of the world of the Christian trams they Believe that anything that if it has to feed on Human Blood it is Evil. For God made man to feed on Roots and Two toed hoof is what we should eat as a Human. So to me a Vampire is one that most feed upon the Ash of Man. which means Blood of life in the true Bible.
So that mean to all of those Whom do not know Vampires are altered Humans and that is the TRUTH!!
Vampires cannot be born as active Vampires, although there are certain circumstances where a person may be born human then develop Vampirism as they mature. Vampires are 'embraced' or turned by the introduction into the bloodstream of certain pathogens via an exchange of bodily fluids.
The full details of the fascinating changes that happen during turning are explained at length in The Change. that is the facts of the Vampire world.
My Thoughs On Vampires If They Do Or Don't Exist.

Ask any given number of people whether they believe in vampires and the overwhelming response will be in the negative. There are two main reasons for this. The first reason is fear. Not the fear of the common man for Vampires but quite the reverse. As we are all quite aware humans are prone to mass hysteria and violence against anything they cannot understand. Because of this, Vampires over the millenia, have feared the human race and what it may do if the existence of Homo wampyrus were confirmed as scientific fact. Vampires therefore keep themselves well hidden and do all they can to propagate the Vampire as a myth and Hollywood invention. One classic example is the popular fantasy role-playing game by White Wolf, Vampire: The Masquerade. This game describes a rich history of Vampire 'clans', each with it's own back story and complex interactive culture; all presented as a made-up gaming environment. In reality, the book is based on fact with only some embellishments to make it 'more exciting'.
The second reason is connected closely with the first. Remember, Vampires are people too which means any survey will include a proportion of Vampire participants who will naturally vote 'no' in order to discourage belief.
So YES!! i Believe that Vampires are there just doing what they have to do live in peace with the world around them.
People Picking on others and my thoughts on it.08:58 Jan 27 2009

^,..,^ One most enjoy life in anyway possible no matter what the form or status of ones life. Even the undead know that life has its own meaning, One what does it has to live for. Either to be hunted as feed for the people of the night or to live a healthy life being loved by those of eturnal life. That is how i see thing and not like others whom are trying to put others down. And Friends or Covens shouldn't make fun of one another, It is wrong, and unhealthy of them. If they have to pick on others to try to bring themselves up.. They are unhealthy. So i only hope those whom are of the world of the night and day can just live their life in the way they want with out people being so hateful. Its just plain unhealthy, And if you thank about it why would anyone that is of the world of the night want to feed on something that is unhealthy. ~*~Serenity~*~
