Uncaring yet slow caresses

Gentle but unsmiling touch

Sensation running in shivers

Too much is the cry, too much

Only coldness is left as hands move on

Heat expended grows colder still

The thought and the deed are quickly lost

And regret makes it's home in the chill

For moments of time it is easy to forget

In others it is hard not to sigh

And maybe a smile grows once in a while

But the best words we spoke were goodbye

A finger tracing coffee cup rings

Mindless in circles it scrolls

No thought of it's start or it's finish

A finger has no care what the future holds

A hand reaches for the warmth of a new coffee cup

Fresh watery rings replacing the old

A pretty pattern that means nothing more

And when replaced once again will grow cold

A foot gently kicks at a table leg

Uncaring and without any aim

No matter the table is needed right now

The foot slowly moves it away just the same
