The Princess...

05:00 Sep 30 2016
Times Read: 359

I see Her, The Princess, she looks like Snow White,

In blue and red and gold,

the bow in her hair flutters in the wind,

She has no home, no food,

Her eyes, mascara black and raked with Her tears,

She cries, She is begging.

Her prince must rescue Her, the gallant and true,

from where She sits on the gravel and stones of the street,

She holds a cup, well made and boutique, all the better

for the clank of a few spare coins,

the mice that climb on Her do not sing or speak,

Her hands raised, She is begging.

I see Her, Her eyes shine to me,

but this prince has seen too much of lies

I see Her tattoos, covering her form, ink well crafted,

money well spent,

I see Her clothes and shoes clean and smooth,

no scuffs from where She is begging.

And now She sits homeless on the street with no food,

no love and no hope, mascara raked with Her tears,

with a glance She can tell she'll get nothing from me,

so She looks down the path for another white knight,

Another dumb prince to exploit,

to lift Her up from where She is begging.

I look down the way, other men sit there,

none of them pay heed, for they've seen it too,

much longer than me, they know the game,

the damsel in distress is in distress for a reason,

almost always brought by Her own hand,

the hand that is raised, She is begging.
