It is Halloween and snowing in Chicago. I legit dusted over three inches of white fluff off my car and pulled out my winter coat. Poor children, trick-or-treat is wet and freezing this year.
The Sinisterhood podcast covered the Bell Witch legendary haunting that sent a pre-Presidential Andrew Jackson packing. Hosts are the very funny Dallas area comedians Christie Wallace and Heather McKinney:

I have tons of art supplies and am proficient with a lot of diferent paint media, but I have been really feeling ballpoint pens lately.
I just bought a pack of cheap Bic for $2. It started with an online art trade but I have kept on drawing with them. They are portable and fast to work with, getting a range of lines and shading is not too hard, and I just learned they are waterproof so you can ink wash or watercolor paint over them. Using a napkin or paper towel to wipe the tip frequently prevents ink blobs. Drawing hair, fur or feathers look great.
Dear humble ballpoint pen, I apologize for looking down on you for not being fancy or expensive. You are everything you need to be: a technically advanced pen with a fine tip and good ink.

It's not the tool but the artist. My new Acrylic paintings were drawn out in sharpie first. Keep on discovering your tools. :)
I was able to see the documentary Memory: The Origins of Alien. So, I learned:
I. It helps but is not needed if you saw Jodorowsky's Dune first. (Great movie.)
II. The people in that documentary seem to pronounce Jodorowsky's name wrong the whole film, at the least it is being Anglicized.
III. I and everyone I know have been pronouncing H.R. Giger's name wrong our entire lives using an incorrect Anglicized version. (Entshuldigung, Hans! Meine schlecht.)
IV. It is awe inspiring how much work Giger did and how he just kept doing his art style even though it was way too freaky for most people especially so earlier in his career but generally still to present day.
V. Alien is still cinematic genius that holds up today in its ability to terrify.
I have not bothered to see Prometheus. My friends that saw it said it was crap. Maybe Alien holds up because it was not a CGI riddled mess like a lot of current movies. Ridley Scott was not the sole driving creative force at all. Alien had genius creative people with massive visual skils making the film together. They took risks but they also knew what makes a film valuable.

ALIEN is a crossover classic that does in fact still hold up today. Horror should be equal parts suspense and violence. Gore is overrated in the genre but some think that all horror needs gallons of blood. Why not suspense? This was more suspense than violence but full of jump scares and terror-filled moments. I almost dread that Disney wants to reboot it.
@LordSidious Disney is so formula, almost all their movies are basically the same movie. :p I would not bother with them touching the Alien / Aliens franchise.
One good point the doc makes about the suspense, the movie goes for 45 minutes before any action really takes place. That is master cinema!
Alien is one of my favorite movies!
@TheArtistRose. Def see the doumentary if you get the chance. Maybe it will become available online in the future.
Overheard the Quote of the Night:
"I literally hate this train station. It's a urinal combined with a crime scene."
I just saw a pop-up ad here for a free copy of the Book of Mormon.
I am willing to donate money to a Kickstarter to place ads on a Mormon social media site and offer people there a free copy of Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer, and thus promote the book based on actual history.
Many lost souls could be set free.
Overheard two young boys whom were walking past. One said to the other, "You cannot get tired, my friend, if we are to survive the Zombie Apocalypse."
