I finally filmed my first speaking role about a week and a half ago, for a new supernatural web series called "Raising Kayn" (raisingkayn.com) that will be available online on Sept. 4th. The producer is trying to sell it to the BBC, as I write... I play the (recurring) role of the firm (okay, bitchy ;-) but caring college Dean (Dean Herman), who tries to keep the main character on track. After I got out of hair and make-up I walked by the camera man and his assistant twice, and ended up standing in front of them before they even recognized me! I looked like a rather stern librarian! lol.
Saturday I took the kids and we did some extras work for director/producer Spanky Ward on a short film called "Mr. Rist". Turned out to be a good thing I took the kids...my daughter got her first speaking part! She got to point and scream (in the cutest 11 year old evil look ever), "Get him!". Spanky had her try yelling "Kill him!"...but she couldn't do it and keep a straight face! Of course we all were laughing when she tried...so it wasn't that big a deal ;-). I didn't know there was any running involved...but apparently the script called for us to be a running/angry mob...I haven't ran that much in years! The only thing that made up for it was beating my 13 year old son, every shot, except the last! He's been going on and on the last few months about how there was no way I could out-run him...it was really nice to prove him wrong ;-).
Tonight I did some extras work for a feature film (being made by Raising Kayn's camera man), as part of the crowd in a club concert scene. The band, Side Dish (a local band) was REALLY good...the song "Two Clicks to Meltdown" was fantastic. I downloaded it off their ilike.com site as soon as I got home. I was definately the oldest extra in the scene...and jumping up and down doesn't really work in high heels...so I sort of bounced ;-).
Tomorrow I have an audition for a family feature film as a "bombshell, gold-digging, mother"...I'm not sure I fit the "bombshell" description, but I'm gonna give it my all! Wish me luck ;-).
