But just for a teaser?

I may well have met Birra's and Morrigan's love child.

And I had to deal with a couple of ex gangbangers.

Tune in soon for further updates. I just hope I can get all of this down before the next streak 'o' functions starts on Wednesday.

Thank GAWD I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow, albeit at 10:30 AM, with the devoon Manuel....

Can you imagine? I made mention of the fact to Ms. Morrigan that if things kept up the way they were going, VR would have it's own version of "Big Brother". When there is nothing but slush and water, you will spin out of control ALOT...

And taking those things off the car before leaving work at midnight? Not so much fun, especially when there is still snow on the ground....

It never amazes me at how the panic factor kicks in no matter where you are...lol

In Florida, when someone even hinted at a hurricane, people went beserk. And god forbid we hear those "Hurrican biznatch will be making landfall in*****", intimating that said hurricane will be making a mess of Tallahassee shortly. People made a run for gas, plywood, groceries, batteries, etc. ALL at the same time. Can you say "Be Prepared"? The insanity of it all makes me cringe.

Then I moved up here, where rainy winters and occasional snow flurries are the norm. Today, the word started trickling down that it could be a rain/snow mix day tomorrow. So what happened?

Everybody made a run on gas, a run on groceries, and a run on batteries.

Leonardo DiCaprio Gives 'Red Riding Hood' the 'Twilight' Treatment

.

Amanda Seyfried in 'Red Riding Hood'

Warner Bros. Pictures The trailer for "Red Riding Hood" makes it seem the classic fairy tale has received the "Twilight" treatment.

This isn't surprising. The director of "Red Riding Hood" -- Catherine Hardwicke -- also shot the first installment of the world's most profitable sparkly vampire franchise. What might be surprising, though, it is that the idea for an amped-up fairy tale bursting with adolescent angst didn't come from her.

Instead, it came from Leonardo DiCaprio.

According to Hardwicke, who was recently interviewed for the Los Angeles Times, DiCaprio thought, "Wouldn’t it be cool to do a Gothic twist on Red Riding Hood, with the wolf being a werewolf, and just have a cool, sexy romantic thriller?" Soon his company, Appian Way, began to develop the idea.

Judging from the trailer, which you can see below, Leo got exactly what he asked for. By the looks of it, "Twilight" fans are going to be very pleased with the results.

It opens with Amanda Seyfried gamboling in an autumnal glade with a handsome young suitor, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), who sports an anachronistic faux-hawk. As they embrace, we hear Seyfried say, "I’ll do anything to be with you." And then, suddenly, the trailer makes a left turn into Gothic! There’s talk of killer wolves, there’s foreboding music, there’s Gary Oldman.

From what I can piece together, Amanda is in love with Peter though she's betrothed to Henri (Max Irons), another handsome young suitor in a faux-hawk. Someone in the village is a lupine supernatural killer, but, in spite of Oldman's glowering looks, no one is 'fessing up. Somewhere along the lines, Seyfried dons her red cloak and goes to grandmother's house.

So -- Is this flick like "Twilight?" Or has this trailer been edited to remind everyone of "Twilight?" On the one hand, the set-up does seem remarkably familiar, with one or both of Seyfried's paramours most likely werewolves. That sounds a lot like that other lycanthrope love triangle Hardwicke is associated with. On the other hand, there's a claustrophobic paranoia here that feels much more akin to horror movies like "The Thing."

So which is it? To find that out, you'll have to wait until the movie comes out in March 2011.

****my 2 cent's worth****

First of all, DiCaprio needs to stick to what he does best. He may think he is being orginal, but the premise has been done, and well. If he wants to capitalize on "Twilight", then be honest about it. Secondly, is Gary Oldman working his way through all the old time monster movies? What's next, Frankenstein? And third, does anybody besides me remember a movie called "The Company of Wolves"? Someone on the comment board at Yahoo mentioned Jack NIcholson's "Wolf", as it having been done, but I don't think the premise is the same. I do agree that the Grimm's tales were originally adult in nature, and therefore treating them as such makes for interesting movies when handled right.

I like Gary Oldman, and for that reason if for no other, I'll probably go see this. But comparing this movie to the Twilight saga movies is condemning it before it even has a chance. People will damn it out of hand before even giving it a chance to prove itself. And even with his outstanding performances in Shutter Island and Inception, DiCaprio is not my favorite person. He's arrogant, amongst other things, but he is riding high right now. I just hope he treats it with the reponsibility he should.

Gary Oldman as a wolf....meWOW....lol

Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig

Universal Pictures The makers of next summer's action epic "Cowboys & Aliens" can be assured of one thing: no one could possibly accuse them of false advertising. It's got cowboys. They fight aliens.

Based on a graphic novel from Platinum Studios -- the publisher of the original "Men in Black" comic -- the title is so straightforward one might assume that it's a joke. But as the just-released trailer shows, this movie isn't playing the concept for laughs. It has some seriously big names behind the camera, including director Jon Favreau ("Iron Man"), producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, and executive producer Steven Spielberg. And it has two of the toughest leading men of their generations -- Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig -- in the starring roles.

Here's the exclusive first look at the trailer for "Cowboys & Aliens." (Viewer discretion advised: Contains violent content.)

Watch the trailer in HD >>

In "Cowboys & Aliens," Daniel Craig wakes up in the middle of nowhere with no hat, no boots, and no memory of who he is or how he got there. He also discovers a metallic band on his wrist that he can't remove. He winds up in the frontier town of Absolution, where the citizens live in fear of the powerful Col. Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford).

It turns out Craig is a wanted criminal, but before he can get carted off to jail, alien vessels swoop in from the sky, incinerating the town and abducting the locals. And the only weapon that has any affect on their ships is the device on Craig's wrist. So Ford and Craig have to team up to find out what these technologically advanced attackers are and if there is any way to stop them.

What's surprising about the trailer is how much it looks like a straight-forward Western. Except for Craig's device, there's nothing in the first half of the trailer to suggest there are any science-fiction elements to it. It comes across in the performances as well; there is no winking to the camera here. Craig has an icy intensity that recalls Steve McQueen in "The Magnificent Seven." And Ford looks to be as energized on screen as he ever has been.

In a way, this pairing makes for an interesting symmetry for Harrison Ford. 21 years ago, he shared the screen with the original James Bond, Sean Connery, in Steven Spielberg's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." And now in this movie, Ford is the elder figure who gets paired up with the 007 for a new generation.

"Cowboys & Aliens" also stars Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Paul Dano and Keith Carradine. It opens on July 29, 2011.

Ridiculous. You know, of all the travelling I've done I've rarely ever had a problem with children on planes. I've even had trips where I was seated next to some other family's youngster when the family was forced to be split up.

I generally had spent the flight talking to the child, coloring in coloring books, or reading a story with them... I mean, they're kids. Understand the experience from a baby or toddler's point of view...

Yes I have had the flights where the crying baby has kept me awake... that is no one's fault - not the airline, not the child, usually not the parents... jeebus people, be mature, empathetic humans and deal with it...

My running around for the day is done.

I have shucked out of my wet clothes, the first load is in the laundy, my home is warm, dry, and coming together comfortably...

I have two new cross stitch kits to work on for a customer.

*sigh*

Sometimes, life hands you a gimme....

And last night, after working a horrendously heart wrenching memorial service for a wife and mother of two who died of colon cancer in her 40's, dealing with the cluster fucks of all days manager wise, I come home to a husband who not only put me in the shower, and brought me coke, but took me to see "Megamind" and out for dinner afterwards.

Oh yeah, and popcorn...lol

Exorcists wanted: apply to Catholic Church

Fri Nov 12, 4:55 pm ET

.WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Wanted: a few good men to cast out devils.

Overwhelmed with requests for exorcists, U.S. Roman Catholic bishops are holding a special training workshop in Baltimore this weekend to teach clerics the esoteric rite, the Catholic News Service reported.

The church has signed up 56 bishops and 66 priests for the two-day workshop that began on Friday, seeking to boost the small group of just five or six American exorcists that the church currently has on its books.

"There's this small group of priests who say they get requests from all over the continental U.S.," Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, Illinois, was quoted as saying.

"Actually, each diocese should have its own" exorcist, he added.

Paprocki did not say why there was increased demand for exorcisms, which he noted were rarely performed.

While solemnly regarded by the Catholic Church, exorcism is a staple of Hollywood fright films -- most notably the 1973 film "The Exorcist" -- and regarded by many as superstition that lends a chill frisson to festivals like Halloween.

Catholic Church law stipulates that only properly trained priests can perform the rite -- and then only with the permission of their bishops.

Possible signs of demonic possession include scratching, cutting, biting of the skin; profound displays of strength; and a strong or violent reaction to holy water.

"Dark Shadows" will be Johnny Depp's next movie (Reuters)Source: Reuters Thu Nov 04, 2010, 7:56 pm EDT Comments

Buzz up!

emailimdel.ici.ousdiggfacebook...

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Johnny Depp's next movie will likely reunite him with director Tim Burton for a big-screen incarnation of the gothic vampire TV soap opera "Dark Shadows."

The duo's collaboration has been more than three years in the making -- Depp was obsessed with the series as a child -- but Warner Bros. has now set an April start. Depp will portray Barnabas Collins, a vampire living in a Maine manor who is searching for his lost love.

Now that Depp has made his decision, the other projects he was flirting with will have to find new actors, unless of course they can be wrapped up by April. For example, Depp's name has been mentioned in connection with Kathryn Bigelow's "Triple Frontier" as well as with Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Depp and Burton last worked together on "Alice in Wonderland," one of the year's biggest hits. Depp returns to theaters on December 12 with "The Tourist

Alot of the comments on Yahoo were along the lines of they hoped the two of them went in a different direction, instead of rehashing the orignal story line, which had already been done to death. There was so much more to that show than JUST Barnabus Collins, and hopefully this movie will make better use of the plot than the first two movies did, although I loved those as well.

TRANSYLVANIAN PORK AND SAUERKRAUT BAKE

2 pounds sauerkraut, fresh or bottled, not canned

1/2 cup converted rice

6 slices of bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces

1 pound kielbasa or other smoked sausage, sliced one inch thick

1 pound ground pork

2 medium onions, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoons paprika

2 teaspoons caraway seeds

1 1.4 teaspoons salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1 cup sour cream

1 (14 oz ) can Italian tomatoes, cut up, juices reserved

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, soak sauerkraut in cold water to cover for 10 minutes. Drain, rinse well, under cold water, and drain again. One handful at a time, squeeze out excess liquid from sauerkraut.

2) In a medium saucepan of lightly salted boiling water, cook rice 10 minutes. Drain, rinse under cold water, and drain again; set aside.

3) In a large skillet, cook bacon and kielbasa over medium high heat, turning often, until bacon is crisp, about 5 minutes. With a slotted spoon, transfer bacon and kielbasa to paper towels to drain. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon fat from skillet.

4) Add ground pork, onions, and garlic to skilet and cook, stirring often to break up lumps of meat, until pork loses its pink color, about 5 minutes. Pour off excess fat. Add paprika, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring, 1 minute; remove from heat.

5) In a lightly oiled, deep 2-quart casserole, spread a third of the sauerkraut. Layer on half of pork mixture, half of rice, and then 1/2 cup sour cream. Top with half of remaining sauerkraut, the repeat layers of pork, rice and sour cream. Cover with remaing sauerkraut. Pour cut-up tomatoes with juice over all.

6) Cover tightly and bake 1 hour. Uncover and bake until casserole is bubbling, about 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Too bad Scott doesn't like saurkraut (or cabbage in general) and I can't eat garlic anymore. This sounds really good. So if someone does try this, please let me know how it tastes....

On the fact that the guy who invented facebook is not only homely, but the devil incarnate...

Of all the people, friends and unknowns who read my journal, two very important women left comments on that original entry. I treasure the fact that they did, and I appreciate the comments they left behind.

Of the rest, I received a sympathetic note from the Rat, who could empathize from personal experience with her family.

But then today, I received this:

I just read your post about face book and Im almost in tears honey child........Not about a Losing a love due to drunk driving...but something extremely different (but loosing a love)

I can't even begin to write it down.............but I will say that you sharing your story made me really think about the aspects of the relationship and other things........

This is what I sent back:

Message To: BubbleGumClaudia

You should have seen me trying to write it all down. No one else knew about that except my mom (dead), my dad (dead) my grandma (dead) my uncle (dead) and my cousin and I. I probably should have let it out years ago, but I had buried it so deep that it took seeig her name in my facebook page to jar it all loose. As soon as Scott got home from work that night, he put his arms around me and said "tell me".

So I did.

Then I told ya'll...lol

It hurts- and I have since sent her the following:

Luanne Askew Kendall October 31 at 1:31am Yes, Debbie you know me. And no, as far as I know Steve doesn't do anything on a computer. His daughter is here (http://www.facebook.com/carsonsmommy26)

and his son is here (http://www.facebook.com/taylor.askew1). If you want to get in touch with him, that is probably the best way.

Luanne

And I got this in return:

Debbie McCluney October 31 at 9:47am Report

Wasnt looking to get in touch with him for any specific reason, just trolling around on facebook one day, and thought, hey?? wonder if steve and luanne are on facebook. found you, did not find him. will look at the kids pages though thanks for that. how have you been?

I guess I'm just too sensitive- but after burying it all down so deep for so long, jarring all this shit loose just makes it feel like a fresh wound. And quite frankly, I really don't want to talk to her anymore. EVER.

*******************

You people here mean the world to me. All the people I know and am close to have provided me with ample solace, comfort, and commiseration when needed on a variety of events. I value the comments even from the people I don't really know, because sometimes I can find the one thing I need to help make it right from the most unlikely of sources. Men, women it makes no difference to me who advice and comfort comes from, cause you never know what will help the most.

Thank you.

Hun , I understand how you feel , I lost my Daughter , it wasn't a love but I loved her dearly she was my little angel , and for someone to send that message to you , was heartless and you don't need her. We love ya and are here for you .no matter what.

Like I said, treat Debbie as spam. Obviously, she doesn't realize how much the situation hurt you and how traumatic it was. For people like that, that are oblivious to other's needs and feelings, just delete them from your life. That is one good thing about having friends online. :)

*Hugs* Wuvs ya!!!
