If death came knocking at my door,
I would greet him with a smile.
I would invite him in for a drink,
And ask him questions only he could answer.
I would request two things of him.
I would want my death to be at my hands,
For I only know how I would like to die.
I would also ask if I could join him,
For a party within the depths,
Of his dark domain.
If you had known me
In the earliest days,
You would know,
That it was a time for happiness.
It was a time,
Where the grass was green,
And the trees showed their true beauty.
It was a simpler time,
When nothing was more precious,
Than the sounds of animals,
Raoming free on the countryside,
And the birds singing their songs.
It was a time,
When hard work yeilded more,
Than money could ever buy.
It was a sense of pride,
That could not be bought.
You had no need for money,
To experience freedom,
And there was no need,
For permission to travel.
You could walk wherever,
Your heart desired.
There was more space,
And beauty to appreciate.
It was a time,
When people truly lived.
