Kneeling In Prayer
A poem dedicated to those who lost their lives in Beslan, Russia (September 1st- 3rd 2004)
We’re kneeling here in prayer,
Surrounded by madmen with guns
And handmade bombs
Which they threaten to use
If anyone steps out of line.
We’re kneeling here in prayer,
With so many other children,
Some weeping, all scared,
Many praying for our lives,
While the madmen threaten us.
We’re kneeling here in prayer,
Waiting to be let go,
Waiting to be set free,
Waiting to escape,
From the madmen with guns.
They shout at us, threaten us,
Scare us and make us cry,
But some of us make no sound
And just wait among others
Kneeling in prayer.
