New Blood - 3

Her heart skips a beat as she hears the knocking continue. She stands and stumbles slightly. Seems her legs haven't quite woken up yet. She takes a breath. Willing her legs to move, she edges toward the door. Not knowing how long she was out, she figured the boy was back to check why she hadn't come downstairs.

She opened the door quickly, trying to come up with some sort of explanation for her absence. When she finally realized she was staring at 6 figures, all with masks on their faces and wearing red robes. Her breath caught in her lungs as a bag was thrown over her head and she was being carried out of her room.

She wanted to scream, but the initial adrenaline and panic that surged through her veins was making her body unresponsive for anything she wanted to do. She listened carefully as they hoisted her downstairs. Every step they took forced the air out of her lungs. Finally she heard murmurs, but what they were saying she couldn't quite make out. All of a sudden, there was a floating sensation as her body was dropped on the hard floor. Pain shot up her side as she landed funny.

They tear the mask off. Blinking, she adjusts her eyes to her now bright surroundings. She is in a white room. Candles mark every corner and crevice, giving the appeal of a seance. The hooded figures are surrounding all the walls. She's in the middle all alone. She can sense all eyes were on her. It seemed as if they were waiting for something.

It took her several tries to stand. She imagined it was probably due to the relationship she just started with the floor only moments ago. She turned around, taking in her surroundings. Bright white room, almost as if it were bleached. Around 20 or so figures in robes, who were all patiently waiting for something. Neither one spoke or moved an inch. She remained quiet, as if her voice would almost raise the dead in this kind of silence. The hair on her arms began to raise as time slowly ticked by.

It came at her slowly, a sort of humming, which seems to reverberate off the walls. It took her several moments before realizing the people were humming, all in unison, as if they were one. Her heart beat was pacing faster. As one, they all moved towards her in a fluid motion. Slowly and gracefully. They made no sound as they're feet hit the wood flooring beneath them. She could feel her pulse racing harder as they got closer and closer. Finally with only a foot apart from everyone, they stop. The humming soon after fades into the background.

Her head is buzzing. She closes her eyes and takes a breath to steady herself. When she opens her eyes again, she notices they are all holding daggers in they're hands. Her eyes grow wide as she holds back a scream...

New Blood - 2

Phantym's eyes grew wide and she bolted into the her room and shut the door. She was so embarrassed, she was sure her face had gone redder than the walls. She checked the mirror on the cherry wood vanity that sat next to her bed. She was surprised to see her complexion remained pale. She took a moment to gaze at herself. She frequently stared for extended periods of time, as if trying to understand the girl who was staring back at her.

She let out a sigh as she walked away. Remembering that she left all her belongings in the hallway, she proceeded to go get them, figuring the boy was now sitting in the commons and wouldn't see her. Scooping up the bags, she dragged them into the room.

Completely wiping out all her energy on the staircase, she figured the unpacking would have to wait, instead deciding to plop on to her bed and relax. She closed her eyes, allowing the rhythmic sounds of her breathing to calm her nerves. Slowly allowing her muscles to relax, she sinks further and further in the bed, fading....

She's in the middle of the woods. A fog has set in and there is a slight crisp chill to the air. She's walking, not really knowing where her feet are taking her. Just allowing her body to do as it pleases. She walks...

Looking down, she realizes she is barefoot. Even though she can feel the cold, her feet remain warm, as if perhaps a numbness has set in without her realizing it. She keeps walking...

The trees begin to thin out, she sees a light. The closer she gets to the light, it seems to warm her. She is frightened, yet not knowing just why it frightens her. As if her body knows if should be frightened. She closes her eyes.

Eventually she stops walking. She opens her eyes, confused as to why she stopped. She looks up, she's standing in a large front yard. Looming over her is a house, completely engulfed in flames. She hears nothing but hooves clapping against the ground. She screams....

Phantym opens her eyes with a start. At first she doesn't know where she is, groping blindly around in the darkness. She sits up and only then realizes she is completely covered with sweat. Her breathing is fast and her heart feels as if it will burst through her chest. Her body aches.

It takes her a few moments to realize that someone's knocking on the door...

New Blood - 1

"Why did I have to pack all this junk," exclaimed Phantym, as she ascended the stairs leading to her dorm room. Being new blood in a coven sure made one feel jittery and excited. She was nervous to start her new life with her fellow coven members, ready to start her training in whatever was to come. But what she wasn't ready for was the long journey from the taxi cab to the front door, let alone the 6 flights of stairs she was now facing. Each step that went by was even more gruesome than the last.

Finally reaching her door, she set her bags down, making sure to give a slight kick to the pile for all her suffering. she straightened up, wiping the sweat that now formulated on her brow, and reached for her key. The key looked pretty plain enough, etched along the side in old-English font was inscribed 72. She took a breath, capturing this moment in her mind before twisting the key and hearing the lock click.

She pushed the door open, which emanated a baleful screech that made her cringe. "This is it!." Leaving her luggage in the hallway, she walked past it and examined her new living quarters. She was greeted with a cozy looking bed with a red comforter and throw pillows to match. The whole room had beautiful dark wood paneling with old victorian red and black wallpaper. Sconces lit up the walls like fireworks. Curtains billowed down to the floors, giving off a romantic touch.

Overwhelmed by her surroundings, she stared in awe for several moments. She didn't even realize the figure that was present in the doorway.

"A hem." came a voice that jerked her out of her stupor. Surprised, she spun around so fast she almost overbalanced herself. There was a man in the doorway. Tall, handsome with dark brown hair, and the eyes of midnight. He was smiling, as if amused by her reaction.

"You alright?" said the man, "Was just coming to welcome the newest member to the family. I hope I didn't disturb you."

"Oh no, not at all." Phantym's heartbeat was racing a mile a minute. "Please do come in."

"Actually I'm heading down to the commons area, just figured I'd pop by and say hello. You are welcome to join me if you wish." He gestured down the stairs. "Although I'm sure you probably have some unpacking to do." He glanced down at her pile in the hallway.

"Yea, I should probably get situated first. But perhaps I'll come down later and see everything." she added.

He smiled at her, "Cool, sounds good." He started to leave. She couldn't help but watch as he started to descend the stairs. Then he turned around. She snapped her eyes back hoping she wasn't just caught. "Oh by the way," he added, "next time you should try using the elevator at the entrance. Save you the trouble of scolding yourself." He smiled as he continued down the stairs.
