Ok, during the last massive outbreak of "Swine Flu" in 1976 some 46 MILLION Americans were vaccinated and only 532 linked cases of GBS with only 25 GBS deaths (out of a total 1098 GBS cases that year). So thats what less than 0.01% lol



The normal annual flu kills 36,000 people in the US each year, I think the compared risk is acceptable.



When there is a major outbreak, like in your area, and vaccinations are available. Keeping a child from getting them based solely on a less than 0.01% risk, to me, equates to child abuse.



In medicine side-effect risks aren't given much attention until they reach .5-1%, a 0.01%- risk is nothing.

The daycare told me that they are suggesting 2 vaccinations for the Flu this year for children. My only issue is the Swine Flu shot is new ... it hasn't been around long enough to get all the kinks out. And since the outbreak they've probably been rapidly producing it and there's no guarantee that it has been done perfectly and not just them getting it done as quick as possible to get it out there.



So I'm going to talk to her dr asap.

Ugh! Sounds like you need to put your foot down - do you have primary custody/joint custody or sole custody? It may be a good idea to look into that if they persist in making your life difficult.
