If a religion is making you so miserable you're depressed because of it's teachings- is that really good for you?

A fear of hell is going to ruin your life.
Is a religion based on fear worth it?

I'm not judging, but I wonder why. If I were to worship something it would be worth it. Love & light is worth it, not a fear of hell and condemnation of everything unlike your teachings.

Hopefully they find love, light, truth... they're looking but clinging to the wrong pieces of the truth.

Why would anyone fear hell if they are true to their religious beliefs?

I always thought people who believed in their God and followed Gods laws then you are promised a place in heaven, they are also taught that God is love, light and truth. Why would they fear damnation and hell? Seems they are not sure of their own faith.

But if I was seriously trying to follow a faith I doubt I'd keep that faith if it was dragging me down.

I don't think the person I'm talking about is sure of their faith. They are focusing too much on how it relates to others and not themselves

That's good. I believe in "God" but it's not a he or magical man in the sky or any sort of being. I believe God is everything
