It's our choice not theirs!

This is a political rant so feel free to pass on by. I live in Eastern Kentucky, I don't feel the need to hide it because if you're dumb enough to come here looking for trouble, there are more than enough folks to give it to you. But anyway this is where the US Senate Race between Republican Mitch McConnell is up against Democrat Allison L Grimes. I keep reading news reports where this poll or that one has him up 4 points or her up 4 points and then lots of folks making comments on the reports how one or the other is so much better for us. Then there are always the commenters who feel the need to describe the Kentucky voters as ignorant, welfare bred drags on the society. They of course all know better than we do about who needs to be voted into office.

Let me tell you something (at least here I can) You "educated and so much smarter" comment makers, who have never even been to KY much less into the hills in Eastern Kentucky where folks struggle to live, You have no right to say a damn word about who we chose to vote for or why!

I will say upfront I'm a registered Democrat though about as conservative as one you'll ever see. The democrat party that exists now, bears little resemblance to the one I first joined. But I cast my vote every election day even though I live in a Republican controlled area of the state.

Let me explain how I see it from in Eastern Kentucky. I draw my retirement and after working hard for 30 years for it, you can kiss my ass if you don't like it. Yep I started working a few years before McConnell was first elected to office, so I've actually been here the whole time.

Now I'm sure I don't have the educational level of many of those who make the comments but then I needed to work after high school so that's what I did. But I still read and understand more than they will credit me for I'm sure.

The election boils down to just a few things here, which one of these politicians will be able to represent the folks in Kentucky the best. Look at the two running and that's pretty easy to figure out.. Grimes is in her first term as Sec of State and other than change the heading on all official paperwork from her office from the State Seal of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to Her full name in large bold letters followed down below by a small state seal in a thin and pale font (has to get her name out there you know) that's pretty much all she's done in her job as a servant of the people. * I have one to prove it* Yes she's one sorry excuse for an elected official if her performance so far is the example. IF she's elected she will be a junior senator with no power and will have to make promises and compromises to everyone else in the Senate so other than following along with what the power players in her party tell her to do that's it for her. One of her favorite ads was to quote McConnell about how he wasn't responsible for bringing jobs to KY and how she would do better. How? The job of a US Senator is to represent the people that elected him in Washington in matters that affect us there such as being for or against bills that would make it harder for jobs to locate in the area they represent. It is the job of state & local officials to woo and win jobs to their state. Does she really think we're all that dumb?

McConnell is a republican and so automatically will go for the profit before people, that's just their nature. BUT he has been in the job for 30 years and has built up relationships both good and bad but I suspect he's now owed more favors than he owes and that's good for Kentuckians. He also maintains offices here in KY where citizens can approach him for help when all other avenues fail. Sure he cannot always help everyone but at least he's approachable via his local office reps. He is also a possible for head of the Senate a much more prestigious and helpful position than junior senator who has no power.

So all those folks outside Kentucky who want to tell us who to vote for because we're all ignorant, in-bred, welfare cases go get stuffed. We will chose and we will live with it, good or bad, just like we've always done.

I have one more thing to say based on Ms Grimes latest ad running constantly on tv, she has a man from Mayfield Ky there telling how McConnell never did a thing to help them when General/Continental tire shut down and shipped their jobs to Brazil and Mexico. I grew up in Mayfield KY and my father worked at General tire for many years until he became so fed up with the stupid Union that he quit and we moved back to Eastern KY where unions don't do so well. See according to him, the Union's made the company keep employees that were dangerous to their fellow workers because of their incompetence or refusal to follow the rules and yet couldn't' be fired without the union going out on strike. He swore he would never work in a Union controlled business again and he didn't, even though he had to work longer and harder at other jobs. So before you blame jobs moving south on a politician you might want to look at all the reasons, my dad saw it coming nearly 40 years ago long before the US Gov did anything to make it easier. There's more than one reason jobs moved south and the unions played their part as well.

Sorry for the rant if anyone bothered to read this all but I'm so fed up with the bullshit. In all honestly until term limits are imposed, it's always going to be the best of a bad choice.
