Weathered Dreams
21:58 Feb 22 2010
Times Read: 729
I feel as cracked as an old weathered step.
Washed and worn by countless rains
Pounding feet leaving behind
The dirt and scars of their passing.
These thoughts I pondered
As I watched the rain fall
Splashing upon the wooden steps
The dirt trailing off in rivulets of mud.
How sweet it would be to wash it all away
The pain and sorrows of my human life
Until like the weathered step I’d become
Swept clean and ready to begin again.
My cracks now filled with the putty of friendship
My heart reopened to the possibility of love
My arms open to new experiences
My mind no longer closed.
