Fucking February

Seriously I just can't get out of the month of February without some medical disaster. Usually happening on the 14th but not entirely limited to that stupid day.

This year was 2 weeks later....

I've been sick for 2 months. TWO. FUCKING. MONTHS!

There is some super flu/bug flying around and it's just knocking people down left and right. I've been to immediate care twice and have gone through two rounds of antibiotics and a round of steroids. Even the Dr.s there told me that this thing has taken people two or three rounds before it finally gets knocked out.... Sucky.

Last Tuesday I was out running errands and just having a hard time breathing properly so I thought "I'll just pop over to immediate care, maybe get another round of antibiotics and a nebulizing treatment and be on my way...."

Boy was I wrong.

I got hooked up to check for vitals and discovered my oxygen saturation was down to 80%.... I was hypoxic and getting worse.

I was promptly told I was going to be taken to the ER and most likely going to be admitted to the hospital.

SO not in my plans! I was quite literally just finishing up some errands before going to meet my brand new, 3 day old, nephew!

I pouted the entire ambulance ride to the hospital.

I was given a few nebulizing treatments in the ER, and had an ABG test done.

Arterial Blood Gas test.... they legit stab you in the wrist and wiggle the needle around. However fast the blood splurts out in the the vial the determines how much oxygen is in your blood. The faster the better.... Mine was "Sludge"

I was admitted to the ICU where I spent 3 days with tubes up my nose, a mask on my face, fluids and meds being pumped into my arm, and being repeatedly stabbed until they felt comfortable enough to let me move to the normal floor.

It was a fight on my part and they would have liked to keep me another day... but my anxiety and fear of hospitals runs deep and strong, and 4 days is my absolute limit.

I was let out on Friday and told to rest, not over exert myself, and given a battery of prescriptions to take for the next two weeks.

I'm happy to say that I feel much much better, and while I initially didn't plan NOR want a trip to the hospital/ICU.... I'm glad I went.

I was told that waiting even another day and things would be "a complete disaster with possible permanent damage" SO!

This is the 2nd time I've had to be hospitalized with lung problems and this time went vastly better but the mental strain of doing this... again... is going to take some serious time and healing....

But on the plus side.... It's no longer February ;)

"What do we say to the God of Death?"

"Not Today!"
