Falling For Death

Times Read: 535

In the Spring when things should be Alive and Cheery a young lady by the name of Angelica Devine was having the worst few months of her twenty one years. Angelica was lovely with her creamy white skin, her sea blue green eyes and her Auburn hair that waved and curled down to the middle of her back. She was well built with nice curves but not many paid attention to that for Angelica was the middle child in her family. Her father who loved all his children tended to favor his son Allan the eldest at twenty four. Their mother babied Belinda the youngest sister at Age fifteen. So even though they were all loved there were definitely favorites and if she hadn’t had her grandparents Angelica would have faded into the background but Angelica’s grandparents never let that happen for they saw much potential in her and Angel spent much of her free time with them till the year before this story began when her grandmother died. It had been a hard year for both Angelica and her grandfather but they had each other for comfort till the recent months when Angelica’s grandfather became very ill and was rushed to the hospital. At that point Angelica had to push herself to get through her classes for all she could think about is how she could possibly go on without her grandfather if she lost him. Angelica hadn’t gone to visit him not because she didn’t care but since her grandmother’s death Angelica had a fear of hospitals and this her grandfather knew so he also knew when she did show up the doctors will have said there was no hope so he was fine with her not being there. Angelica’s Dad took his father a laptop with a web cam and at night when Angelica wasn’t working at the coffee house while Angelica either studied or worked on her speech which the dean had asked her to give for the graduating class at the college. She was going to receive her first degree at the ceremony but knowing that her grandfather wouldn’t be there in person made this milestone feel hallow and the speech was hard to work on. Her grandfather saw this when she would hit a stumbling block and start to sob so he would speak soothingly and get her through it and when all was said and done this illness cost Angelica’s grandfather his crowning moment when she actually gave the speech. He had to watch it on the screen and he knew it was not even close to the speech she would have given had he been okay.

Angelica knew she wasn’t the only one who was affected by her grandfather being ill. Angelica’s father wasn’t doing much better than she was but he was doing all he could to get through things without losing his very thin control on his emotions. Angelica’s Father had a sister named Beverly whom everyone called Bev who was more dramatic than usual Bev had been spoiled all her life and now she believed she should always have her way. Bev wasn’t smart she had barely made it out of High school due to her many life experiences that had stumped her mental growth. Bev had two daughters Natty and Amy but they both had different fathers and now Bev was married to another man named Jamie and she had married him to get out of her father’s house because her father had started stifling her with rules. Natty had run away with a guy she knew when he got her pregnant and now she had two children and her husband died accidentally at work so they received money from the government but Amy was a different matter to keep Amy from being completely helpless their grandfather took her in since Jamie couldn’t stand Amy and threw her out of his home. It didn’t really matter since Bev had neither the time or the mind to take care of Amy but before anyone could help Amy she had followed her mother and gotten pregnant at seventeen by her boyfriend Corden but unlike her mother Amy kept Corden around and they lived off of Amy’s grandfather’s kindness and in the week before Angelica’s grandfather went comatose he had asked Angelica to watch over Amy and try to help her find some self worth. Angelica found this plead odd but she promised just the same. Angelica knew that Amy’s future worried her grandfather for he knew if something ever happened to him Amy couldn’t go to Bev because of Jamie so they would most likely end up at the mercy of the state because their grandfather didn’t believe Corden would step up and take responsibility.

Thursday night in the last few days of Angelica’s grandfather’s life Angelica got home from her shift at the coffee house and overheard her parents talking.

“Ben says that neither of us is the beneficiary of dad’s living trust and that the only one he can discuss any of the arrangements with is them, but who else would dad trust everything to?” Her father asked her mother quite baffled.

“I don’t know dear but how did Bev take it?” Angelica’s mother asked calmly.

“Terribly, she says she plans to fight the will.” Her father answered a bit exasperated.

“It’s a living trust does she not know that she would be risking everything?” Angelica’s mother asked amused.

“Probably not, but she is wearing me out, she keeps yelling at me. Honestly Mags this whole thing is wearing me out.”

Angelica went to her room without even saying hello. Once inside she shut the door and let out a huge sigh. Angelica went to turn on the web cam but there was no answer which concerned Angelica greatly but it wasn’t till a bit later when her father poked his head in that any hope she had came crashing down.

“Baby dad slipped into a coma today they don’t expect him to wake. You need to come to the hospital and say good bye there will be no more web cam and you know your grandfather would want that much.” Her father told her tenderly.

Angelica nodded numbly and remarked, “Okay Daddy but I don’t really want to..”

“I know baby but there is no hope you need to go for your sake and say good bye.”

“Then We’ll go in the morning?” Angelica asked softly as she fought back the tears that welled up in her eyes.

Her father nodded, “In the morning, nite sweetie try to get some sleep.” He shut the door softly.

In the morning getting up and getting dressed was a big chores but she made sure she was dressed both comfortable and nice. She put her hair in a ponytail it didn’t matter if her grandfather was in a coma she would dress nicely for him anyway. When Angelica met her father in the living room he looked as if he hadn’t slept in weeks. He gave her a small smile and they headed out. On the drive to the hospital it was very quiet mostly because Angelica and her father had no idea what to say to each other. Finally Angelica’s father spoke up about a block away.

“I am sorry for pushing you sweetie but really I believe you would hate yourself more if you did not say good bye.” He explained.

“I know you are right dad I would like to see him alone if I can I have things I want to say and I don’t want anyone to hear mostly because I think aunt Bev and Amy would make fun because they really don’t understand.”

Her father nodded, “I will arrange it then but I think I need to go to work. Take your time I will call Allan and have him there waiting to take you home when you are done.”

Angel nodded and they got out to go into the hospital. Her father led her through to her grandfather’s floor Angelica waited as her father arranged her alone time with her grandfather for her. Angelica noticed her father had been relieved to see that his sister or his niece was not there when they arrived and she knew that they were the actual reason he was rushing off to work. Before he left he kissed her cheek and gave her an encouraging look then he left her to her visit.

Angelica timidly walked into her Grandfather’s hospital room. The man in the bed was just a shadow of the man Angelica knew and loved and at seeing her grandfather like this she began to cry. She went to his bedside and touched his hand. She tried not to shrink away for it was nothing like the man she loved so very dearly. Finally after she gained control she said in a trembling and tear filled voice.

“Hey Granpa, I am here…” Angelica held back the tears trying so hard to be brave. “I am worried for Amy Granpa, you know Aunt Bev can’t handle her and with another baby on the way I really hope you took care of her in your will?”

After several minutes a nurse came in to the room to check Angelica’s grandfather’s vitals.

“Oh you must be Angelica?” the nurse asked.

Angelica looked at her puzzled, “How did you know my name?”

“Well I was usually on duty when you two would do your web chat and when I came in to take his vitals he would talk about all his grandchildren. I have met your older brother, your younger sister and your cousins but he said you would come and he may not see you because you didn’t want him to see you cry.” The nurse explained with a kind smile then she went on, “There is a journal he wants me to give to you, he said you were going to need it give me a minute.” The nurse went out to the station and a few moments later she returned with a leather bound journal like the ones in her grandfather’s study. The nurse handed it to Angelica and Angelica took it and hugged it close.

“He would work on it when you were either at school or at work.” The nurse told her.

Angelica gave her a tear filled smile then she looked at her Grandfather and asked, “Can I lay next to him?”

The Nurse smiled, “I supposed it’s all right just don’t disturb the wires and tubes Angelica.”

Angelica nodded and carefully laid at her grandfather’s side. She started telling him about the night she had the night before but she lost heart when he didn’t answer back and finally she laid her head on his shoulder and cried.

“Please Granpa don’t go, I don’t know if I can do all this without you.” She begged and as her tears fell she suddenly felt as if someone was watching. She wiped the tears away and looked around but there was no one there. It made Angelica very uneasy so she kissed her grandfather’s cheek and whispered,

“Love you Granpa kiss Grams for me.” She finally got up and left the room. As she walked down the hall she felt as if she was being watched but when she looked there was no one there. As she went to turn away she saw in the glass to her grandfather’s room there was a reflection of a young man in an elegant black suit and next to him was a man who looked like her Grandfather but much younger. The two men seemed to be looking down the hall at Angelica but Angelica looked where the figures should be standing and there was no one there so Angelica walked quickly away.

Out in the waiting room Allan sat waiting patiently for Angelica. When he saw her he smiled kindly and stood up. Allan was a nice looking man with grey eyes and sandy blond hair he was six five which was tall compared to Angelica’s five nine of course next to Amy who was only five, five Allan was a tower and Amy wasn’t the only one dwarfed for Bev was only five, five as well. Bev regarded Angelica with cool eyes which made Angelica uneasy then the petulant Amy spoke up.

“Oh so you finally showed up? I thought you loved grandpa?”

Allan scowled at Amy who was eight months pregnant with her second child and only seventeen. Everyone knew that Amy was still not the favored one even though she was just cared for by their grandfather. Amy and Bev resented Angelica for her close relationship with her grandfather but to Angelica’s face they were kind and cordial. Amy would have been exquisite if not for her patchy cheeks, rounded belly and of course the hot pink hair. Allan ignored her giving his sister a tender smile, “Hey sis dad sent me to fetch you.”

Angelica knew better than to banter with her whiny cousin so she walked to her brother and hugged him crying.

“It is good to see you Angelica.” Bev replied trying to sound cordial.

“I wish it were under better circumstances.” Angelica replied soft and sadly.

“I am sorry I didn’t make it to your graduation but I was here with dad.” Bev replied and the chill she was trying to hide in her voice appeared making her words sound hallow and cold.

“I am sure he was glad to have the company.” Angelica answered ignoring her aunts cool manners.

Bev rolled her eyes, “Well you would never know it. As it seems dad didn’t care about anyone.” The words were said harshly but since Angelica had heard her father’s discussion with her mother the night before she knew perfectly well what Aunt Bev meant. Angelica gave them a slight wave and led Allan to the elevator seeing she wasn’t going to get a civil word from either her aunt or her cousin. Once in the elevator and the doors closed Angel hugged her brother tight and sobbed.

“Calm down Angie it’s goanna be alright.” Allan consoled her.

Angelica pulled herself together just as the elevator doors opened and there stood their Grandfather’s best friend and lawyer Ben Codridge.

“Allan, Angelica good to see you kids.” Ben said with a warm smile.

Allan grinned, “Not really Ben.”

Ben’s face became serious, “Of course I am sorry. I hear he took a turn for the worse and now he is comatose?”

Angelica nodded silently.

“Well Angelica I have been hoping to see you can you come by my office in the morning? I need to talk to you?” Ben asked.

“Sure Ben, Granpa didn’t forget to put Grams wishes for her Cameo collection did he?” Angelica asked concerned. Her grandmother had left her an entire Cameo collection in the living trust but they were to stay at her grandfather’s house till he passed away.

“We’ll discuss it tomorrow I really can’t say anything here.” Ben answered uneasily.

This left Angelica believing that her aunt was trying to take the Cameos and that was why she was so hostile to her.

“Okay Ben I’ll have daddy bring me by.” Angelica answered.

Ben smiled and nodded, he got in the elevator and headed up to the floor they just left. Angelica looked at her brother and they walked out to his car.

“You want to come over to my house and see you niece and sister in law?” Allan questioned.

Angelica studied her brother for a moment and realized he really wanted her to visit, “Okay but you have gotta buy me lunch?”

Allan hugged her, “No problem, I’ll even get dinner if you stay that long.”

Angelica grinned at her brother, “O have to get home tonight Allan so no kidnapping.”

Allan pouted, “Oh come on we haven’t kidnapped you in months.”

Angelica usually got ‘kidnapped’ when her brother and his wife needed a date night mostly because Danica or Dani, Allan’s two year old daughter, only behaved for Angelica mostly because sometimes Rhayne would ask her to watch his daughter Veronica or Ronnie when he needed an emergency babysitter and Ronnie was Dani’s best friend. Angelica went over and played with her niece but she didn’t stay. Angelica had to get home to tell her dad about the meeting with Ben. When Angelica arrived home her father was in his study working on a few things but upon seeing her he put his work aside.

“Hey daddy.” Angelica gave her father a small smile., “How was work?”

“Okay I guess but they are giving me bereavement time so I can take care of my dad and it doesn’t look like I will be doing any of that. Ben said Dad took care of everything and only his heir can take care of the rest which I guess isn’t me since Ben won’t talk to me.”

Angelica bit her lip and paled, “That didn’t even occur to me when I talked to Ben today.” Angelica replied absentmindedly.

Mr. Devine gave his daughter a pensive grin, “What did Ben say to you?”

“He asked me to meet with him in the morning, I thought it would be about Gram’s Cameo collection.” Angelica answered.

Her father nodded and smiled amused, “Hua that would make sense, you do know them better than most. I’ll take you in the morning.”

Angel smiled to see her father’s own smile, “I was just about to ask you about that.”

The man grinned and his eyes which were very much like Angels own eyes sparkled with amusement, “You know we really need to get you your own car.”

“But Daddy with mom’s company getting off to such a slow start we can’t afford it.” Angelica replied.

Her father sighed he knew she was right but she was doing so well in college and then she maintained her job at the coffee house during most evenings and then in her free time she helped her mom deliver things in her grandfather’s old panel truck which she had used some of her money to fix up for her grandfather. When she did that her grandfather made it useable for her and that’s when it became obvious that she was his father’s choice for his Heir she was always there for him and she would know exactly what he wanted she knew him better than even Amy who lived with him. Angelica had walked over and kissed her dad with a smile while he was reflecting on this information.

“Love ya baby, now go get some sleep it looks like Dani ran you ragged.”

Angelica chuckled, “No, she was fine. Sleeping has been hard for me since granpa went into the hospital.”

Her father gave her a sad smile, “Yeah I know what you mean.”

“Nite Daddy.” Angelica walked out of the study she went and hugged her mom. Angelica’s lovely mother was in her office working on a few details for her new project. Angelica spirited in gave her mom a quick hug and kiss then walked out. On her way to her room Angelica saw her younger sister Belinda who was trying to work in her homework but at seeing Angelica she used the opportunity to take a break.

“Hey sis how was Dani?”

Angelica raised a brow at Belinda, “Good, but perhaps if you could keep up with your studies you would know that.”

Belinda blushed at being caught, “What I don’t like math.”

Angelica sat down to try to help but the math was AP calculus not something Angelica knew well. Angelica gave her sister a sympathetic look, “Well I don’t know what to tell you maybe you should find someone in your class who can help you?”

Belinda frowned, “but everyone else is older than me in the class.”

Angelica hugged Belinda, “Then talk to the teacher it might mean extra time at school but I am sure Professor Daniels would want to help you after all you are his star pupil.”

Belinda groaned, “Okay.”

Angelica smiled as she tried to put a stray strand of her Auburn locks behind her ear Angelica leaned to Belinda and kissed her sister on the head in the middle of her silky mahogany locks then she made her way up to her room. As she sat down at her computer she pulled out the journal her grandfather had left for her and she started to read:

Dearest Angel girl;

I doubt I will see you again and I am sorry I can’t hold out for you but without your grandmother it is too difficult. Your father says he was so proud of you when you got your degree and I am so proud of you there are no words to describe my joy at seeing you not only getting that degree but working and maintaining your average at the top of your class. You are definitely a cut above my girl.

By now you may have talked to Ben and if you haven’t this may come as quite a shock. Before your grandmother died she and I decided that you should be the Heir to our living Will and Trust. You are wondering why? Well it’s simple there is no one we trust so much to do what we require of our heir besides you dear one. Your aunt would have taken everything and left everyone in a jam, your father has too much on his plate as it is, I don’t see Natalie enough, Amy is too much of a child and with her and Corden having another baby it just proves they aren’t ready for the responsibility. If Allan had come around more often I might have considered him but he has enough to handle with his wife and darling Danica. Belinda is way too young and that leaves you. I know you would want to argue about it but sweetie you have been there for me all year, gotten me through the grief of grandmas death. I know you will see we are right about you and you will do what I need ask of you. Ben has our Will and Trust and he will give you instructions on what I need from you and don’t be afraid of your Aunt Bev just tell her how it is for it is time she spent her time making her life worth living instead of running from her past. Don’t forget to make sure Amy is taken care of. You know how Flighty your Aunt can be and I don’t want Amy and Twilla left out in the cold.

You won’t have to worry about anything I took care of it all just make your grandmother and I proud and if you can find yourself a good man to give you a few children and be happy with. I love you Angel girl and I am always in your heart to carry with you always.

Love,

With all my heart,

Your Grandpa Devine

There were other entries but Angelica was exhausted and crying. She knew she was sure that letting her grandfather go would be the hardest thing she would ever do. As she sobbed on her bed she felt the same feeling as she did when she was lying next to her grandfather but she looked around, she realized the feeling wasn’t terror it was just unsettling as if something was trying to comfort her. When she closed her eyes she saw the man that was in the reflection at the hospital but now he was clearer. She could see his long ash blond hair was pulled back but it was definitely passed his shoulders. He had kind but sad sky blue eyes and there was a tenderness that drew Angelica to him.

“It is going to be alright Angel girl you’ll see.” He replied tenderly in a rich baritone that sent a delicious shiver down her spine but the words calmed her. As she walked towards him the dream shifted and all she was left with was an image of an Ankh with wings.

In the morning Angel’s father hurried her saying, “Sweetie the hospital called and said I need to get there right away. So come on sweetie I will drop you at Ben’s office.”

Angelica nodded sadly but she got dressed and ready quickly. Once again the drive was quiet. Once the car stopped Angel gave her father’s cheek a quick kiss and she hopped out.

“I might have Allan get you okay?” her father replied.

Angel nodded and her father drove away. Angel sighed sadly knowing what was wrong she just knew. She walked into a law firm at which Ben was a senior partner. Angelica walked into Bens reception area where his secretary Velma greeted her kindly.

“Angelica dear how are you doing?”

Angelica shrugged, “I am not sure right now. Is Ben ready to see me?”

Velma gave Angelica a tender smile, “I will let him know you are here.”

Velma picked up her phone and called into Ben’s office. Angelica looked around unable to settle her nerves. After a few minutes Velma pulled her mind back saying, “Go on in Angelica dear.”

Angelica nodded and after a deep breath she went in the office door. The office was done in rich reds ad mahogany wood. Ben stood to greet her but Angelica saw on his face that he was going to tell her what she feared to be true. He wore a look of compassion and sadness that made Angel want to fall in a heap and cry.

“Angel girl I just got off the phone with the hospital. I am sorry but your Grandfather died last night.” Ben replied carefully.

Angelica sat down slowly, “I figured, Daddy got a call so he dropped me off.” Angelica had to pause to keep her composure, “I suppose you should go ahead and tell me what Granpa wants me to do?”

Ben raised a brow at Angelica, “The journal?”

Angelica nodded, “Yeah the nurse gave it to me yesterday. I started reading last night.”

Ben smiled, “He told me there will be letters of advice and encouragement and there should be headings for them. He wanted to help you understand even when he wasn’t here to help you.”

“Okay, so tell me what I need to do and I will get it done?” Angel asked as she geared up to the task before her.

“Well as his lawyer I took care of the funeral arrangements. He did however request that you put together some music and photos like you did for your grandmother’s funeral.”

Angel nodded as she wrote things down in her day planner.

Ben went on, “There is a list of instructions and I have a list of assets for you. I also believe your grandfather had you sign on his bank accounts?”

Again Angelica nodded then she grinned and remarked, “Yeah he said that it was to make it easier for me to help him get his errands done.”

Ben smiled, “I am sure but it was also to name you as his heir. I know you aren’t thinking about this now but next month we should discuss you making up your own living will.”

Angelica let out an overwhelmed laugh which helped Ben realize how mind blown Angelica really was.

“I know you are young Angel girl but your will would keep your grandfather’s estate in tack if something was to ever happen to you. We can revise it when you are older so no pressure.”

Angelica let out a sigh, “Alright Ben if you think it is necessary.”

As they went over the fine points of Angelica’s grandfather’s Will Angelica’s Aunt Bev burst in the office with a frantic Velma behind her, “I want to contest this will!” she screamed.

Angelica snickered at her aunt who gave her a serious frown, “Shut up Angelica, you have no right!”

Ben cut Bev off, “Bev if you do this you would lose all rights to anything your father or mother might have instructed Angelica to give you. It is a clause in the Will. I know you didn’t read the whole thing and I am guessing that your husband hasn’t either?”

Bev went pale and she stammered, “Wh… what clause?”

Ben gave Angel a grin then he showed Bev the clause that stated that anyone who contested the Will would forfeit their rights to anything that might be in trust for them or given to them by the heir. Bev slumped into a chair helplessly.

“But how could daddy just do this to me? He knew we can’t live on Jamie’s disability as it is he loaned…” Bev stopped and looked at her niece with wide eyes.

“Auntie just leave we’ll forget you were even here, don’t worry about the loan I will see that it is forgiven. Tell Uncle Jamie he missed something. I will send you the information for the funeral as soon as I can.”

Bev nodded silently then she got up quite disoriented and left. Angelica turned to Ben and grinned.

“I guess Granpa saw that coming.” She remarked.

Ben laughed, “I believe you are right Angel girl.” Ben paused to compose himself, “Okay then Angelica have your ride take you over to your grandfather’s house so you can get the truck or one of the other cars. However I suggest that for now you take the truck I still need to have the cars looked at.”

“Are they part of the inheritance too?” Angelica inquired.

“Oh no, I have already taken care of all that Angel girl. Some of those cars haven’t ran in years. Your grandfather wanted to fix them but he never found the time.” Ben explained.

Angelica nodded with an amused smile she knew which cars her grandfather intended to work on but he always put it off.

“Angel, did your grandfather tell you why he wouldn’t leave their money to your aunt?” Ben questioned carefully.

“No.” Angelica shook her head.

“Your grandfather was a brilliant man and his assets are enough that you can do everything he asks and still be set for life.”

Angelica was so stunned all she could think to say was, “wow”

Ben nodded, “Indeed, he was a hard worker and he invested in others like me. I wouldn’t have this office if your grandfather hadn’t lent me the money on the understanding that he would be a silent partner and upon his death I would pay his heir, you, what his partnership is worth or keep you on if you wish?”

Angelica gave this some thought, “I wish I could have Allan join you Ben you know he is a lawyer and he is looking for the chance?”

Ben smiled thoughtfully, “If that is what you want. That would take care of the promise to help Allan.”

Angelica grinned quite pleased, “Yeah Ben do that if you can then maybe you could have him work on my stuff with you for experience?”

Ben nodded approvingly, “Alright why don’t we start him off as a junior partner so he has something to work up to?”

“That’s a good idea.” Angelica nodded in agreement.

“So what do you plan to do about Amy?” Ben Questioned.

“First I want to talk to Corden and see what he is goanna do, see if he has any plans. I will set up an appointment with him after the funeral.” Angelica answered.

Ben gave her an approving nod, “Sounds good so I will see you Wednesday at the Funeral home bring the Music and pictures. Oh and tell your brother to call me tomorrow.”

Angelica grinned, “Sure if he isn’t out in the reception area right now.”

Ben raised a brow with a slightly devious smile, “Really well lets go see shall we?”

They both walked to the door and Ben opened it to see Allan sitting waiting soberly then Ben smiled at Angelica, “Angelica you are brilliant.”

“I think Granpa thought so too.” Angelica said with a grin.

“How did you know?” Ben asked curiously with a nod to Allan.

“Daddy told me he might send Allan and lately he sends Allan nine times out of ten. I think Daddy is on the verge of a breakdown.” Angelica answered sadly.

Ben nodded then he turned his attention to Allan, “Allan lad, would you come into my office for a few minutes I need a word with you?”

Allan got up and went to them looking at his sister puzzled. Angelica just shrugged so Allan followed Ben into his office. Angelica sat down and waited. Velma grinned at her and Angelica blushed then looked away. A while later Ben called over the intercom to Velma asking her to bring in the packet for junior partners and Velma answered. As Velma grabbed the packet she smiled at Angelica then went into Ben’s office. A few moments later she returned and fixed a gaze on Angel.

“You know your brother is over the moon in there?” Velma told her.

Angelica smiled, “That’s great he deserves it.” Angelica said quite pleased.

“Your grandfather would be so proud of you Angelica.” Velma replied kindly.

Angelica smiled but she was slightly sad. She looked away trying to let the pain of knowing her grandfather was now gone flow away. A few minutes later Allan and Ben emerged from the office and Allan looked on top of the world. Angelica saw Ben was beaming as well. She got up to greet them, “Are you ready to go Bro?”

Allan hugged Angelica and softly said, “Thanks sis, I don’t know what I could do to ever repay you.”

“What bro, between the two of us you could be of more use to Ben then I could.” Angelica replied but she was smiling at Ben over Allan’s shoulder.

“She is quite right Allan.” Ben replied.

Angelica grinned at Ben she knew if he had ever sat down with Allan he would have been impressed. Then she wondered if that was exactly what her grandfather had intended in the first place just like the clause in the will for Aunt Bev. Allan and Angelica bid Ben fair well and set off for their grandfather’s house. On the way Allan gushed over the new job Angelica just listened smiling. When they got to the house Amy was on the phone but she came out to Angelica.

“So are you goanna kick me out?” Amy asked hostilely.

That is not the plan but could you tell Corden I need to have a talk with him after the funeral?” Angelica questioned calmly.

Amy blinked then she looked at Allan, “She’s not kicking me out?”

“Not at this point but Amy you need to go back to school and or get a job.” Allan replied sharply.

“I am pregnant Allan you can’t expect me to get a job right now.” Amy growled.

“Amy, Allan didn’t mean right away but Granpa isn’t here to pay your bills anymore, you are going to need to make your own way or Corden will need to step up either way till you’re eighteenth Birthday I am now your legal guardian and you need to listen because I am not Granpa and your life is going to change. You have been warned. All the bills will be going to Ben’s law office and I will see what you use. If you indulge you will lose privileges, the TV will go followed by the phone.” Angelica replied seriously as she looked at the phone in Amy’s hand.

Amy looked at the phone and then she said into the phone, “I’ll talk to you in a bit.”

The person on the line said something so Amy handed the phone to Angelica.

“Hello?” Angelica answered.

“Hey Angie, I completely intend to take care of Amy and the kids.” It was Corden and he was calm as ever perhaps even a bit friendly.

“Okay you have two weeks to show me how you intend to do so Cord. Pick a day in town weeks and call Allan who will be handling all my appointments in these matters.” Angelica told him.

“How about that Friday? It will give me more time to make sure I have it all together.” Corden asked.

“Here talk to Allan.” Angelica handed the phone to Allan who proceeded to set up the appointment. Angelica looked to Amy, “he seems like a great guy Amy you are lucky.”

Amy was taken aback she hadn’t expected this. Her mother had her convinced Angelica would toss her out as soon as she could.

“Well I cam for the truck. I have a bunch of errands to run so if you need me just call, you still have the number right?” Angelica went on.

Amy nodded silently.

“Good well relax and I will make sure you get the details for the funeral.”

“Oh kay.” Amy replied.

Allan handed the phone to Amy as he and Angelica went to the vehicles. Angelica got in the panel truck and she drove off to take care of some of the errands she had. After all that she didn’t want to go home so she went to her best friend Mina’s house. Going to Mina’s was a mistake for Mina lived in a world that she believed revolved around her. Mina never said that to anyone out loud but when someone tried talking to her the conversation was always about her even when it started about someone else. Normally Angelica was alright with this she thought that Mina’s life would distract her but Mina made it worse she hadn’t meant to but it was just the fact Angelica didn’t need to put things on hold she needed for someone to hold her while she let some of it go. Angelica left Mina’s and went down to the Bar Rhayne worked at. Rhayne was Angelica’s best guy friend and the fact that his daughter was best friends with Dani was a plus he knew what was going on because Rhayne kept up with Angelica. Rhayne was self reliant most of the time but he knew who his friends were and Angelica had been on that list since the day they met. When Angelica walked into the bar Rhayne looked up and gave her a strange look but then his look shifted swiftly as he went to her and pulled her into a tight hug.

“Angie what are you doing here tonight I figured you would be at home hold up in your room or something?” He was pleased to see her but he knew this was unusual.

“I guess you know Granpa is gone?” Angelica asked with a grin.

“Yeah sweetie Cori called and told me earlier she asked if Ronnie could go over and keep Dani occupied luckily I needed a sitter tonight so it worked out. How are you holding up?”

“I am overwhelmed I found out I am the Grans Heir so now I have all this responsibility.” Angelica told him and he saw she was overwhelmed.

Rhayne wrapped her up in another bear hug and replied soothingly, “It’s goanna be okay, I know it doesn’t feel that way but I know you will get through it.”

Angelica relaxed and she cried on his shoulder a bit but when he let her go she felt like she could go on again, “Thanks Rhayne, I don’t know what I would do without you.”

Rhayne grinned and it went all the way to his sky blue eyes. Angelica thought of what a great man he was, Rhayne was nearly her ideal tall, well built with long golden blond hair but Rhayne would never think of Angelica like that their friendship was too important to him and Angelica knew it. They hung out while Rhayne worked but he would crack jokes to make Angelica laugh every once in a while Angelica would catch Rhayne looking at something just beyond Angelica but when he realized she was trying to see what it was he would say suspicious customer. By the time Angelica headed home she was smiling which was exactly what Rhayne wanted.

When she got home her dad smiled to see her mostly because he was glad she got home safe. Angelica gave him a smile back.

“Hey baby where have you been?” her father asked.

“Went to see Rhayne after all the craziness at Ben’s office first I went to Mina’s but you know how she is and it just made everything worse. Had I just gone and saw Rhayne I might have been home sooner.” Angelica explained.

Her father grinned, “Rhayne is more like family though sweetie.”

Angelica’s smile dropped a bit, “Yeah I wanted him to go to the funeral and he didn’t think he could make it.”

“I am sure for you he will try anyway. So I heard what you did for Allan, that was a very wonderful thing to do.” Her dad remarked.

“It just made sense I think Granpa wanted it that way.” Angelica replied.

Her father studied her for a minute, “Are you going to be okay this is a lot to take on?”

Angelica nodded, “Yeah, I didn’t think so at first but I realized I am not doing this alone he is with me every step of the way. You know he didn’t chose you because you were already overwhelmed he couldn’t break you?”

Her father looked at her then he looked at a picture of his dad, “Sounds like dad of course it sounds like you as well so I am sure it will all be fine.”

This conversation was making Angelica uneasy, “Well night dad I have a million things to do tomorrow and I still have work tomorrow night.”

She walked out as she heard her father say ’nite sweetie’ she went up to her room and fell into bed. As the day hit her she cried herself to sleep. In her dream the young man was there again and he spoke I a rich and tender Baritone that both soothed and comforted Angelica.

“It’s alright Angel girl Granpa is with Granma now and he is happy. He wants you to be happy too.”

Angelica wanted to touch him but again the dream shifted as she went to reach for him and he was suddenly gone. Like before she was left with the image of an Ankh with wings. Angel awoke startled but she couldn’t recall why so she went back to sleep.

For the next few days Angelica spent her time either at work, working on the funeral music or the pictures for the slide show The funeral home offered, or she was out getting the errands done to have everything in place for after the funeral. She had accounts set up for different members of the family but there were agreements that had to be met for these accounts to become other than savings. She met with the gentleman from the funeral home and they agreed that Saturday would be the day for the viewing then the interment would happen on the Monday following. Angelica, Ben and Allan agreed on the invitations and the programs for the viewing. Then Allan made the arrangements at the hotel for the family to be of help he had them block off several rooms for that weekend.

The Day of the viewing the little chapel was packed. Angel was glad to see all of her grandfather’s friends and family. She greeted them all as best she could. When it came time for her to be seated she walked down the aisle but she stopped as she glanced at her grandfather’s lifeless body. ‘I can’t do this’ she whispered softly but suddenly she didn’t feel alone and that feeling urged her on. She sat in the front row as Heir apparent her father sat next to her. Her mother was beside her dad and then Allan and his family then Belinda on the end. Across the aisle from Angelica sat her aunt Bev, her cousin Amy who held her daughter Twilla and Corden sat next to her then Natty sat next to him with her two children. The service was beautiful and several people got up to talk about the late Roderick James Devine. Angelica listened to them tell stories about the man she knew as Granpa and while everyone around her was surprised by some of the stories Angelica would just smile because she would recall her Granma or Granpa telling her the stories themselves. Finally as his heir Angelica had to get up and speak.

“I didn’t know this man as Roderick; to me he was Granpa my eternal rock.” Angelica paused to wipe away a tear, “Today we have heard how great and generous Granpa was but for me he was the one I turned to when my classes got tough or when Granma died.” Tears welled up and she paused again. She finally took a breath and went on, “The last year was so hard for Granpa he had lost Granma his love but still he was always there to get me through and I owe him so much.” Angelica cried, “Recently I graduated with my first degree of course I was at the top of my class because for the Grans anything less was not good enough but that was what I needed. He didn’t pay the tuition although I guess his money might end up paying for it but that’s not what he taught me. I learned from him that working hard and investing it in others is very fulfilling.” Angelica paused again and she closed her eyes to fight the torrent of tears then she felt a tingle go down her spine as she felt as if she was being held till she was able to go on, “I will miss Granpa so very much but he is in my heart always. I don’t know how I will make it through this loss because this was big, this man was so much more than anyone knew and I hope he always knew I loved him so very much. If he was here he would thank you all for coming to see him off and so I thank you for being here for us it makes me glad to know Granpa was so very loved.”

Angelica left the microphone as she made her way back to cry. After the service many people offered their condolences then everyone waited as Bev, Amy, Natty and her two children went to say good bye to the body. After them others followed and Angelica just watched them silently. She watched sadly as her father fell to pieces. Allan handed their father his granddaughter and then he bid his grandfather fair well then so did Belinda. Once everyone had gone into the banquet hall for the buffet Angelica got up and took a beautiful white rose from the arrangement she had ordered. She kissed the petals and laid it in the coffin then she stood there. After she took everything in she wiped her eyes then she gently but firmly shut the casket. As the lid latched Angelica felt as if someone was near her. She looked up but the chapel was empty. She gave the coffin one more glance then she walked into the banquet hall. The luncheon was nicely set up and she gave her bother a small smile and a nod of thanks he smiled and nodded back. Angelica went to the food tables but she wasn’t very hungry so she only took a few things to nibble on. Her father watched her concerned then he went over to Allan when it became clear that Angelica just seemed to be a mess.

“Son could you try and help me keep Angelica busy this weekend she is looking hopeless and I am worried?”

Allan looked over at his sister then back to his father, “Sure dad, why don’t we get her in a room next to ours and I’ll have Dani keep her busy?” Allan remarked.

“That’s fine I guess don’t be pushy though I am not sure what Angelica is ready to handle and heaven knows your grandfather put a lot on her plate.” Their father commented.

Allan knew his father well and he knew he was trying to make Angelica look like she couldn’t handle the responsibility, “It may be a lot dad but Ange is handling everything better than anyone could have but she has been so busy his death probably just hit her and feels more real now we all knew it was going to be bad for her.”

Their father gave Allan a look which changed to a sad smile, “He was a great man I don’t know how I am handling his death either.”

Allan hugged his dad, “It’s goanna be okay dad, I miss Grandpa too.”

The rest of the luncheon was a blur for the family. Bev made a few scenes for the on lookers but Angelica barely noticed. Allan had been right her grandfather’s death was now more real and it made her feel very lost and alone. Allan had found time to mention to Ben about his father’s conversation because Ben told him to keep a look out for things like that. Ben wasn’t surprised by this but he made note of it.

“Just keep Angelica’s spirits up Allan, as you well know everything else is taken care of your father can’t do anything now.” Ben replied.

“I know, but you told me to keep you informed I had hoped this wouldn’t happen but I guess Aunt Bev causes her scenes and Dad feels a need to control.” Allan shrugged.

Ben laughed softly, “They do have their traits.”

“So we will see you at the Entombment?” Allan asked.

Ben nodded, “Yes, all of the senior staff is to attend,” Ben paused and looked at Angelica, “You know it would be nice if Angelica had a beau going through this alone is a hard thing if she had someone it might be easier.”

Allan grinned, “We kinda hoped she would marry that friend of hers Rhayne because Dani loves Ronnie his daughter and we know Ronnie adores Angelica but they are just tight friends.”

Ben gave that a thoughtful look, “You know book Rhayne and his daughter a room for the weekend maybe we can get him down there so at least she has a friend with her?”

Allan nodded, “Will do Ben.”

Once in the Car Allan Called Rhayne, ”Hey man missed you today you know Angel could have used your support.”

“I had to work last night Ange said she understood.” Rhayne answered back.

“Sorry I didn’t mean it like that, forgive me I think Grandpa’s death really hit her today I know it’s a lot to ask but would you come down to the hotel for the weekend all expenses paid? That way Ronnie and Dani can have some fun and you can help Angel out a bit?” Allan asked hopefully.

“I was planning on coming anyway made the arrangements for the rest of the weekend off so sure that sounds fine Allan.” Rhayne answered.

“Well great! I am sure Ange will feel so much better with you around.” Allan replied very much relieved.

“So who told you to call me?” Rhayne asked.

“Well Ben actually wondered Dad is starting his control issues and Ben wants Angel to feel as if she has some support.” Allan admitted.

“Well she’ll have it then won’t she?” Rhayne remarked, “See you later man I am trying to pack Ronnie up.”

“Sure later then.” They hung up and Allan looked at his wife Corrine, “He is coming.”

Corrine smiled, “Oh good, that will just make it easier on you after all you are grieving too.”

Allan gave his wife a sad smile then he looked in the back seat at their daughter Dani who had her headphones on watching a movie on their DVD player. He smiled and went back to looking out his window at the traffic as Corrine drove.

The car in which Angelica sat was silent as it had been for many months now. Angelica looked out her window silently crying. Belinda worked to finish her term paper, their father tried to get some work done on his laptop in the front seat as their mother drove. As the silence stretched on Angelica wished she had driven with Allan and Corrine because even Dani’s chatter was better than this dead silence and with Danica it was harder to cry. After hearing Angelica sigh for the tenth time her father realized the drive was very uncomfortable so he spoke up.

“Angie the service and the luncheon was quite lovely you did a wonderful job.”

Angelica looked at her father and he saw the tears in her blue green eyes, “Thank you daddy I did it for Granpa. I just wish I could have done a whole lot more.”

Her father gave her a loving smile then Belinda looked from her sister to her father, “I have to finish my paper or I would have helped more.”

“I know Bel.” Their father replied. He saw Angel disengage herself and look back to the window and he knew Belinda had given her sister a dirty look so he went on, “Bel you had better finish that paper so we can relax at the hotel as a family.”

“Okay daddy.” Belinda responded as she went back to work on her paper. The car settled back into it’s unsettling silence.

Once they arrived at the hotel where Allan had saved them a parking spot since he arrived a bit before them. As they pulled into the spot Allan opened Angelica’s door. Angelica looked up at Allan and grinned.

“Thank you bro, it’s nice of you to open the door for me.” Angelica got out.

“Anytime sis.” Allan replied as they walked to the back of the car to get the luggage.

“Where is Dani and Cori?” Angelica asked as she looked around.

“They went inside already, they are waiting with our bags.” Allan answered as he helped pull the bags out of the car. They went into the hotel as a family when they got in Angelica and Allan went to the front desk while their parents and sister went to join Corrine and Danica. Allan took the keys except for Angelica’s and he distributed them among the family as Angelica paid for the rooms. She realized instead of sharing a room with Belinda her room was adjoining Allan’s. She was so busy giving this thought that as she walked towards the elevator she walked right into a young man around her age. When she looked up at him she thought he seemed familiar.

“Oh I am sorry, I wasn’t paying attention my mind was elsewhere.” Angelica replied.

The man gave her a charming smile and again he suddenly felt familiar with his kind sky blue eyes which were clear and bright when he smiled at her, “It’s not a problem you seemed to be in deep thought.”

Angelica recognized the Baritone voice and she looked at him. He had gorgeous long ash blond hair that went down passed his shoulders. He wore black jeans and a black hoodie with an Ankh that had Angel’s wings attached to it. Angel looked at the symbol puzzled.

“It’s a sign of the Angel of Death.” He explained.

Angelica looked into his eyes nearly in tears, “Why would you want to wear that?”

He gently caressed her cheek his eyes saddened, “I don’t want to tell you that now. You seem to be a bit upset by death.”

Angelica looked away, “My Granpa died this last week and we are burying him on Monday.”

The man gave her a kind smile, “It’s going to be okay. I am sure it doesn’t feel that way now because it feels so new.” He told her in that familiar baritone that seemed to soothe and comfort her.

Angelica looked up at him and blinked, “Why do you say that?”

The young man smiled he then told her, “Those I care for call me Drew, Angel, if you need me I am around.” Drew walked away as Allan walked over to them and it left Angelica both curious and puzzled.

“Who was that?” Allan asked curiously.

Angel looked at her brother, “His name is Drew but I am not sure where I know him from.”

“That’s odd, well come on everyone is headed up to the rooms and Dani wants to swim. You want to swim with us?” Allan asked.

Angelica nodded absent mindedly as she watched Drew enter the Solarium, Allan guided her into the elevator. Angel walked to the rail and since the elevator was glass she could see into the Solarium and right at Drew. Drew turned to look at Angel and gave her a decadent smile. Angel smiled back and they watched each other as the elevator went to the top floor. Angel walked along the edge till she arrived at her room but once she got in the room she quickly changed into her black Bikini with her black cover up along with her black flip flops. She grabbed her small bag with the key and walked out of her room. She looked back down into the Solarium but Drew was gone which disappointed Angelica. Angelica sighed and made her way to the pool. When she entered the pool area sitting there on a lounge chair was Drew in a pair of Black swim trunks that had the Angel of Death symbol again. He was relaxing listening to his iPod with no shirt just like a perfect underwear model would look and Angel nearly drooled at seeing Drew’s tone and muscular chest with a six pack. As Drew looked over and gave her his decadent smile once again that sent a quiver down Angel’s spine.

“See I told you I would be around.” He remarked teasingly.

Angel changed her drooling stair to a raised brow smirk, “Are you following me?”

Drew laughed and Angel just wanted to crawl into his arms then drew remarked, “Actually I should ask you that but since I knew you would be here I thought I would make myself available to you.”

Angel blinked, she had to consciously keep herself from going over to him since she knew her brother and his family would be in there soon. Angel went over to a group of lounge chairs a bit away from Drew and she made sure towels were placed on a few of them. She went to the closest one to Drew and she pulled off her cover up and set it on that chair. Drew watched her with a dazed grin knowing she was showing off for him. Angel, being five eight with dangerous curves was unbelievably hot. Angel grabbed her hair band from her bag and pulled her wavy auburn hair back securing it in a ponytail. Intrigued by Angel Drew put his iPod away in his bag and he jumped in the pool getting Angel wet on the way in.

“Hey Now!” Angel squeaked.

Drew surfaced and smiled sheepishly, “Sorry I need a serious cool off and quick.” Drew gave her a quick look up and down.

Angel blushed but she smiled from a slight feeling of satisfaction but then she tried to recover, “I wasn’t trying to…”

“Oh I know, you are just getting ready for your brother and his family who I am sure will walk in at any minute.” Drew replied as he pointed to the door. As if on cue in walked Allan and his wife with their daughter Danica, who upon seeing Angelica ran to her, “Auntie!”

Angelica grinned at her niece, “Dani no running around the pool sweetie.”

Danica slowed to a walk but when she was at Angelica’s feet she held up her arms. Angelica picked her up with a smile, “Better.” Angelica cuddled her niece close. She looked down to see Drew was swimming laps and he glided through the water with the grace of a shark. Angelica took a breath then looked back up at her brother and sister in law as they strolled over. Allan saw Drew in the water and recognized him as the man who caught Angelica’s eye when they arrived, he then looked at his sister and grinned.

Angelica spoke up, “Hey bro how’s it going?” she asked calmly trying her best to smile.

“Come on Angie this is me you don’t have to pretend with me.” Allan said tenderly.

The smile on her face slipped and Angel let out a soft sigh, “I know Allan it’s just lately if I act fine dad doesn’t try to baby me. I think he is worried about me because I didn’t do so well when Granma died and I had Granpa then to get me through.”

Allan deflated a bit to a serious look, “I know, he asked us to try to keep you busy at the funeral today.”Allan told her.

Angel frowned at her brother then she handed his daughter to him. She then jumped in the pool and swam far away from them without another word. As she held on to the pool edge in the deep end she tried not to cry but as her emotions bubbled to the surface it was hard to push them away. She started to see that the more she looked at everything the more alone she felt in this. Behind her the sweet and sensual baritone of Drew’s voice caressed her and the pain subsided a little.

“I am glad to see you aren’t going to make your father’s plan easy for him but don’t be upset at Allan he is on your side.”

She didn’t want to look at him because she knew if she did all she would think of is him and the pain would just fade more, “I know Dad is just feeling out of control but maybe I don’t want to be busy maybe I want to miss Granpa, maybe I just want to miss them both.” She could feel Drew’s presence willing her anger and pain to subside. “Why are you here Drew?”

“You don’t want to know that right now Angel girl believe me.” Drew replied somberly.

Angel turned to look at his face and as she thought the somber sadness and anger started to melt away. Drew gave her a charming and tender smile and Angel couldn’t help but smile back.

“So why do you think they are trying to keep you busy?” Drew asked soft and tenderly.

Angelica sighed, “My Granpa died.”

“I am sorry that you are hurting he must have been wonderful. Do you want to tell me about him?” Drew asked kindly.

A sudden sadness hit Angel and she looked away as tears welled up in her eyes, “He was wonderful and the best of men. I am a middle child in my family and my parents tend to push my brother or baby my sister but me…” Angel paused as she let the pain flow then she went on, “Daddy pays attention every once in a while but Gran and Granpa always were there for me.” Angel looked up at Drew and she noticed he was taking in everything she said so she asked kindly, “Why did you want to know?”

“I’ll explain that later Angel but just please understand I am here because you are loved. Now, maybe you should give your brother another chance I am sure he is just concerned for you.” Drew gave her a knowing grin.

Angel looked at him for a long moment, “You know I feel like I’ve known you forever?”

Drew smiled decadently, “I thought it was the other way around.” It wasn’t a question it was a statement and it puzzled Angel but before she could ask about it Danica walked up to her aunt.

“Auntie catch me!!” Danica jumped into Angelica’s arms.

Angel caught her and when she looked up to apologize for the interruption Drew was already swimming again so Angel looked at her niece.

“Nice jump sweetie.”

“Will you swim me over to daddy?” Danica asked sweetly.

Angel grinned knowing full well this was a play to get her to talk to or interact with her brother. She glanced at Drew as he glided through the water them she sighed and she swam over to her brother.

“Nice Bro, sending Dani over to get me back over here?” Angel frowned at Allan.

“Awe come on Angie I promised dad.” Allan defended.

“I am just fine Allan.” Angel Lied but Allan’s grin told her he didn’t buy it so Angel sighed, “It’s just raw and I really just need some time to sort it so please Allan don’t push.” Angel put Dani back in her father’s arms and she swam to the stairs then she made her way to the Jacuzzi. It was quiet for a little while and just as Angel was about to lose her calm Drew got in the Jacuzzi with her.

“Aahhh now that feels good don’t you think?” he asked.

Angel got that familiar quiver and she gave him a glance and then she looked away again.

“Darn now not even my boyish charm is working.” Drew Remarked.

Angel glanced back at him and she saw his charming smile.

“Why me? Why did you pick me to stalk?” Angel asked finally.

“I didn’t pick you Angel, to tell you the truth someone who loves you very much asked me to help you.”

Angel sighed, “Great, I should have known you didn’t really like me. So who paid you? Daddy?”

“I wasn’t paid Angel and I do truly like you but I don’t usually do things like tis so I am really kinda out of my element here.” Drew replied honestly.

“Fine then who sent you then?” Angel asked slightly annoyed.

Drew let out a nervous and frustrated laugh, “You wont believe me.”

Angel looked at him puzzled, “Why?”

Drew sighed then he looked at Angel, “Have dinner with me and I promise I will explain everything then?”

Angel wasn’t sure why but she replied, “Sure.”

Drew smiled gratefully and nodded, “Good, well I have a few things to do before then so in the lobby at seven Angel girl.” Drew got out.

Angel blinked and just watched him as he went over and grabbed his stuff then he turned to her, “Don’t forget, seven.”

Angel Nodded and Drew smiled and walked out. As Angel tried to put the conversation together her sister in law walked over and got in the Jacuzzi, “A hot date hua?”

Angelica saddened, “Acctually someone asked him to talk to me.”

“Wow who would love you that much?” Corrine asked.

“Corrine! Stop drooling over my date and go take care of my brother.” Angel Growled.

Corrine’s smile fell slightly, “Oh chill I am very happy with who I am I just don’t get to be around friends a lot anymore.”

Angel felt slightly bad she realized that her sister in law has been a bit isolated since having Danica, “I am sorry Cori I don’t think I am the one to hang with right now.” Angel replied sadly.

Corrine took Angel’s hand, “ I know you miss them both Angie just remember we are here for you okay.”

Angel gave Corrine a sweet smile, “I know and thanks but maybe I just want to let it go my way.”

Corrine grinned and nodded, “Okay but hey I think you should give that hot guy a chance after all it couldn’t hurt could it?”

Angel blushed and looked away then she got out of the Jacuzzi and grabbed her towel. She looked over at her brother who was playing in the pool with his little girl and for a moment Angel got lost in a memory of her father and her when she was little. Angel knew her brother would be just as great a father as their father had always been and suddenly she worried that all this loss was hurting her father too. She grabbed her cover up and as she did a silver necklace slid to the ground. Angel picked it it up and found it was an Ankh with Angel wings like Drew had everywhere but there was a difference there was a red rose wound around the Ankh. As Angel looked at it she suddenly felt safe so she put the necklace on and then the cover up. She walked out of the pool area calmly and she walked to the elevator feeling better than she had in a long time.......
