It feels like Monday is coming out from a long tunnel instead of just the beginning of my work week. On Friday we discovered a big wound on our cat's stomach and we were in the vet ER until 1 in the morning. Thankfully while the wound was pretty large, it wasn't deep, but he still needed nine stitches and is in a lot of discomfort.
We cannot figure out exactly HOW he did this to himself. We've narrowed it down to one possibility but it's pure speculation as we witnessed nothing, he left no blood or fur to indicate where it happened, and if he did injure himself in the way we hypothesis it involves a feline level of fuckery to attain. I think this is the most like a cat he has ever been. There's nothing he could have injured himself on unless by extraordinary unfortunate chance.
I probably am talking gibberish at this point because I've stayed with him throughout the weekend. When he gets up, I get up. The little angel has an ability to escape his cone so I have to make sure he's not managing that and chowing down on his stitches.
That being said, I cannot believe what a good boy he is. He didn't fuss at all with the vets and lay there willingly as they shaved and scrubbed his wound. He's a shy cat, but he's so incredibly sweet it breaks our hearts. He's also very good at taking his pills and lets me brush him since he can't reach to groom himself right now. We're really happy he's home and doing better.
