The rain turned over to snow. Snow so dense it quickly covered everything in a flawless white veil. The streets look airbrushed with white and grey. We hurried to throw on our winter gear to take the dog for a walk, the poor guy had been so patient all afternoon as we went about our human tasks and boring chores.

We make different tracks, hopping forward or walking with feet splayed out like a clown, entertaining each other while the dog trotted along. We walked around twice, noting with surprise that the snow covered our footprints so quickly. Back at home, I go back up to the studio to finish some work and I can hear him downstairs, admonishing the puppy for being a toy thief.

Salad wraps for dinner. Mmm.

Salad wraps sound tasty!

Being in the South where snow is a rarity, when we actually get a little we love it. We get all bundled, take the little not so little out to play, then we come in get dry, into warm cozy pj's and drink hot chocolate together while watching a movie. We ended up last weekend with about 2 and half inches. It was so beautiful to see everything white and such a joy to watch the kiddo make a snow angel. I helped him build a snowman, to which he seemed shocked of my expertise. LOL! Being that I home school him, there are no "snow days" but it does give opportunity for some "unschooling" and fun memories!

Getting cozy after playing out in the snow is one of the best feelings!

Salad wraps sound delicious, what do you usually put in them?

Rice, beans, veggies in general and sometimes an additional protein. It's kind of a "anything goes" dish!

Our freezer is dying. Thankfully it is dying during the ass crack dawn of winter so it's not an emergency yet. We'll need to get another one and this is yet another reminder to do more pickling.

Pickled green beans are the best God damn thing ever.

Also, can y'all stop being cunts? This is a great place to hang out, don't ruin it for yourself.

Ohhh! Ive never had pickled green beans! This sounds like something I need to try!

I hope for the day that those that act like cunts check themselves instead of wreck themselves!

If you like pickles and you like green beans you will love them, lol, I guess that's obvious but you know what I mean hah

LOL! I do know what you mean. I like pickled okra and I like pickled beets, both in moderation of course... and I love pickles so I could see it being something I would try.
I swear your journals make me hungry often! lol

I see nothing wrong with that. I have never seen someone unhappy while eating something tasty.

Ugh, I am cranky today and I don't know why. In being cranky I feel less tolerant of people doing or saying the same things as part of a pattern. Inside I know it's just someone needing to vent but because it's the same complaints over and over I am tired of hearing it.

I'm going to view it as a chance to practice patience and grace because I sure as hell know a lot of people who have held those things for me and all my bullshit, lol.

The thing is I don't need to DO anything about it, the person just wants to vent and I'm a safe person to talk to because I don't repeat their words to anyone. I think my brain gets caught up thinking they come to me to solve their problems when they aren't doing that at all.

Anyway, time for breakfast.

I wish I could opt out of anxiety. Who doesn't? I've been keeping my eyes on the movement and development of the bird flu since the beginning of 2023 and there's not really any more time to sit around, in my opinion. We pushed ourselves to garden and harvest more and that's paid off but we'll be going bigger this year as well. If this spills over, which it seems like it is, there will be massive shortages, prices will skyrocket, and shelves will be empty. If ever there was a push to learn vegan cooking, it's now, except vegan alternatives will also skyrocket in price, simply because they can.

I don't see the point in being an alarmist or panicking, just being ready and being aware. I think my anxiety springs from wanting to do more now, when I can't get it all done at once.

anxiety is awareness of what negative aspects are around you.
You're partly correct. I've been having anxiety since collage and Impatient people tapping their fingers acting like I was a fast food restaurant anxiety comes in all forms even from abuse experiences,
it's also a sign of early on stress in you're life right now

You're body also requires meat so make vegan meat you can't go with out it we where born into a wicked world by deceivers and liars not all healthy food is healthy as well I learned that through my collage experience even though people don't believe me when I said I went to collage and was gonna get my paper works also making you're own guarding pots is cheaper.

then buying them for the most part if you want big ones for bugs and birds to get into them some bugs really love straw berries that's why they spray them with chemicals

Anywho have a good weekend.

There are plenty of sources of protein, iron, and essential vitamins that aren't meat based, so while we will be scaling back on our consumption, we are very aware and happy with the alternatives that will keep us healthy :)

Having this younger dog is such a blessing. We end up doing more together because of him. Last night we made cat mint tea to stay warm and took the dog out to the yard to play ball. We were bundled up to keep the cold and intense winds out and the dog couldn't care less about the temperatures. I can't imagine how difficult it was for him to be on crate rest for six weeks and he was such a sweetheart through all of it so seeing him run free and happy again is a delight.

We're planning our garden now. It's only January but it keeps our spirits up to plan what and when we'll be planting.

It's like an episode of Chopped in this house right now. We have so many odd leftover ingredients to use so I'm brainstorming all the ways to incorporate them into various dishes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can make a decent frosting using Greek yogurt. Last night I reduced and strained some strawberries into a nice jam that I'll fold into that frosting and put it on... Put it on what? I don't have that part figured out yet lol
