Unless you've seen someone on cam, you never really know who is lurking behind a screenname. That person that you just talk all sparkles and rainbows about, might just be someone that you despised only a short time ago. Or it could be someone that you despise, but just love on another profile.
It happens a lot around here. Even without using tools to see things, its obvious. And yet people don't realize it because its easier to be oblivious, or just to get that extra honor, until the same problems happen. Then its World War 3.
But that old saying birds of a feather and all that jazz...
Within the 10 years I've been I've seen people come and go for different reasons. I've seen the same people fight over the same things so many times I've lost count. I've seen the same fights with new people just about as many times. Over the time I've become a Regent I've seen things that either made my skin crawl, make me wonder how people can befriend certain people, and see that dishonesty runs rampant.
People choose the type of experience they have on here. If you are friends with people who are constantly into problems or getting in trouble.. then you're experience is going to be problems and trouble. If you are hanging with people who constantly fight, then your experience is going to be probably less than stellar. If you are hanging with people who just trying to be internet badasses, then you'll be dragged into it and laughed at.
The experience I've chosen to have on here is one that is quiet, to enjoy those that aren't a pain in the ass, and continue to have laughs with some of the rockin' friends I've made in my early years. To donate my time in helping by accepting a role as an administrator. Which has also helped me with my experience because I can stay away from people who are either trouble or dramatic.
All that has taught me a lesson in professionalism- being civil to those that you dislike when you have to be professional. You really have to keep your personal feelings separate when dealing with some people on that level. Because it just really isn't kosher to end a message with '... and if you stop acting like a total douchebag, maybe you wouldn't have all the issues you do..'.
Hell, it's even hard to not say that to some people who have left comments in journals I've made regarding site issues. I just want to say '.. are you serious?! you're part of the damn problem are you are acting like you aren't. Eff off to Mars.' But there's that whole professionalism lesson and having a grown up attitude. heh.

There is a choir around here somewhere that you're preachin' to...LOL!
When I first got Tumblr, it was providing disquiet. When I realised I didn't have to see or read what was being said, I started to really enjoy the site.
Same applies to VR.
"Eff off to Mars", tho...♥
Like, when you realise it's all you, it's YOU who controls what you see and hear, then it's much simpler. I now see teacups and bunnies. They're lovely. My experience is therefore lovely.
It's literally just that simple.
hahah Zombeh. -throws hand in air- TESTIFY!
Exactly! People have a choice. They choose who they are friends with. They choose what they respond to. They choose what they involve themselves in. They choose what to read. They choose to act like an asshole. So on.. so on.. and so on.
So yeah.. lost track of what I was going to say, but you get the idea. hah.
Way back in the day when I finished school and got my job, I noticed how some aspects of VR, some of the things I had learned here could be applied to the workplace seamlessly. For instance, just like you said, you have to be civil to people you dislike. In the workplace, when someone is acting crazy over a price, or something else I don't have control over, I still have to remain civil, and keep a smile on my face. So much more than that translates from one world to the other rather well...and just noticing those types of things at first was sort of amusing to me, but it all started to make sense really. I don't know what I'm babbling about, maybe I'm getting at that no matter where you go people, and human nature is the same, no matter how long you stay there...you're going to see the same junk repeated. I've been here for eight years now, and have had my job for four years. Ten years is a heck of a long time! I'm glad that some people that have been here for such a long time are still here. :)
You've made some good points, Nevermind.
Even on a personal level this place has shown me different things. I've seen the actions of some and then I realized I was doing the same thing. It was like 'if I think this person is shitty, then people have to say the same thing about me'. I did not want to be lumped in with that kind of behavior.
So.. I've learned things on both a professional and personal level.
I guess I should give shout out thank you to those shitty people! Because they've made me become better one. hah

Yep, yep, and yep!
Which is why - in my time here - the negative has been very miniscule.
There are two words I really wish people would stop throwing around on here; cyber bullying and hacking.
99% of the time I see these two things used in a sentence on here, or an explanation, it isn't even close to what is going on. Those terms have turned into some kind of generalized statement that not only makes people freak out unnecessarily, but diminishes what they really mean.
It then turns into a situation like the boy who cried wolf- after awhile its hard to take either thing fully serious because of it being tossed around so freely.

Moonie, you cyber-bullied your way into my heart and hacked my feelers. I heart you.
Aww I heart you, too, my lil chickadee! ;) lol
Every time someone doesn't like you: It's cyber bullying.
Every time you give your password out and someone logs on to your account to do things you didn't intend: It's hacking.
If every single time someone didn't like me it was really cyber bullying... then I would be cyber bullied all the time.
Hell, I'd be the leader of the support group if that was the case. hah.
Or when you make fun of two women for being fat and they joke about how fat they are: They're cyber bullying you.
That's right!
On a side note.. actually a bit of a sexual harassment side note- You're so hot you make me wanna butter my thighs. ;)
And 9 times out of 10 those that are screaming Im being cyber bullied are the ones that started it and whats happening is they are simply getting dealt with.. and they dont like it so they scream Cyber Bully..
That whole 'started it and they are getting dealt with' sounds so playground-ish. But really 98% of the stuff that happens around here is because of playground-ish behavior.
I've said it before and I'm going to keep saying it, "Master the art of IGNORE."
So few people can ignore the petty bullshit that goes on here. They feel the need to "strike back," as if that's going to be the end. Just read the journals.
The truth is, it's never going to end, until you end it. Certain people are never going to change, so you must. Not change who you are, but change how you deal with said person/s. Even going as far as ignoring them altogether, no matter what they do or say.
I do agree with this journal entry. The term "bully" has become a joke.
mmmhmmm Zombeh, you are totally correct.
This is exactly what it reminds me of...

Oh yeah.. funny as hell in movies, but damn annoying for real.
I'd like to issue a complaint.
This hussy I know bullied me into sweet submission, and hacked my crack in the process.
Lick my cinnamon rolls, bish! :P

Sometimes I think there's only 10 people on this site, and they all have 1000 profiles.
