These memories that I hold so dear
The links created, year after year
They are my own
They are the chains that bind
This path I wander is my own
Upon this scarlet land I roam
The chains I carry, make me fall
I search the sky, I hear life's call
The key, a whisper in my ear
A haunting song I cannot hear
I am consumed and do not see
My freedom, not so far from me
A deadly cycle, I fall through
The information, always new
I know the answers
And yet my eyes are shut
The chains called choice, they bind my hands
Am I a boy? Or be I man?
I rise again, but do I plan to fall?
A chain of memories, but that is all they are.
My feet, cemented to the ground
The sands of time, they do surround
The gift of sight, I choose to use
This stone is but dirt beneath my feet
The chains that bind, they are not real
Stark reality, so much we feel
Bindings unreal, they can't be seen
We cannot be bound by handcuffs made of sand
The bindings loosed, the arms are free
The mind is open, eyes can see
A key discovered
The chains that bind are accessories by choice
The chains lay broken, time has passed
You gaze around, you free your mask
No longer do the bindings hold so strong
Time is a choice, but nothing lasts forever
Upon the broken bonds you gaze
They weren't so strong, you stand amazed
The strength of sand created by your mind
They were your choice, they were not mine
The chain of memories, the chains consume
Your time has flown, its left the room
You need not be a captive to your thoughts
Emotional sandstorm, a clear mind is needed to break the bonds
Alas, upon this dune I stand
The chains are broken, made by man
Your memories free, the future calls
No longer must the truth remain a whisper
A lesson learned, the time has come
Manacles beaten, no need to run
With confidence, your legs you may extend
The time has come, to carry on
The bindings that may hold you fast
The frustrations felt, may be your last
The mind does not bind with carnal rope
Memories treasure, they need not be, your chains.
